      It's an upper-class thing. Upper class British people for example don't say "please" at breakfast - just "pass this" and "pass that". Must be something they learn at boarding school. Note that this information could be 100 years out of date because it's based on reading old books.

      Word...ever since this commercial, I now ALWAYS say in the man's accent depicted here, "Please pass the Polaner All-Fruit!" regardless of what's on the table. And now that I am an old, unless there is a fellow old my table, people have no clue what I am talking about and usually respond with an annoyed confused tone, "You mean...the jelly?"

    I just bought some Polaner All Fruit when I happened across it in a supermarket, just because of this commercial. So it's still selling products 27 years later. (It is pretty good.)

    I was just a child at the time, but I thought this commercial was hilarious!
    Polaner knocked it out if the park with this commercial. It worked, because I still remember their... jelly... years later. 🤯

    The guy that says “Would you please pass the jelly ?” was an actor named Jason Byce.
    Sadly he passed away in 2005 at the age of 60.

      Ok, the actor was Jason Byce, thank you... good research. But many people are missing the point that he is clearly imitating Jethro Clampet from the TV show "The Beverly Hillbillies". That actor, Max Bear, and Jason Byce in this commerical do look similar, and thick accent at a "high scociety" luncheon is right out of the premise from the TV show.

      The best damned voice acting in the whole commercial.
      This guy is so memorable from when I was growing up that I actively looked for these commercials (as I’m sure everyone did) but then I read he passed away several years ago.
      I usually couldn’t care less about celebrities but this guy is different. This one hurt.

    I remember this commercial on TV all he time in the 80's. They really do make such good jelly. I use the blueberry jelly as a topping on blueberry pancakes and their cherry, raspberry and strawberry jelly make a great fruit topping on cheesecake

      It is not Jelly. That is the reason it is called Polander All Fruit. That is the reson I went to the store to buy it. There was none on the shelf. It is healthier than jelly, and it tastes better. I don't understand why people find ways to turn healthy foods into unhealthy ones.

    Watching a vintage Grey Poupon commercial video made me think of this, too. RIP Cool Jelly Guy.
    If I ever get a Rolls, this is going in the glove box (along with my first pair of driving gloves- I’ve been driving for 34 years + lol) and a bottle of Grey Poupon.

    I was living in LA during the time of this commercial and also the Grey Poupan one. My roommate and I would crack each other up with "Would you please pass the jelly," or "Pardon me,..."

    This commercial is enough to make a security guard in the United Kingdom person burst with laughter! 40 years old I am and the most tightly wounded person in my town and this commercial will change that in a second!!! Funny as hell since the age of 7! Amazing! I watch this video in public just to make me look like a laughing clown so I don't come off as so uptight! Great stuff!!!
