It intrigues me when Latinos try different cultural cuisine, or pretty much everyone, I was intrigued when I saw a tourist from Mexico try russian food during the 2018 world cup
Hispanic does Not mean Latino, hence why they are two completely different terms. Real Hispanics are Spaniards aka the descendants of Hispania aka Spain. and Real ethnically Latino people are those of prominent Mediterranean Italian descent and of prominent Mediterranean Latin European origins in general. Americans and the erroneous Anglo language have misappropriated and culturally bastardized the Italian Latin European terms and identity which has contributed to the cultural erasure of actual Latin people and the proper historically accurate usage of the Italian Latin term Latino. Native Americans who were colonized by Latin European countries have absolutely nothing to do with being Latino, the same way everyone in “Anglo” America are not all Anglo Saxons, it would be equivalent to calling the indigenous Americans of North America “Anglo Saxons” simply because they were conquered and ruled by the English people. It’s an abhorrent cultural/ historical mutilation to call non Latin people of south Central America and Mexico the false, misappropriated term Latino/Latin”. You can Not be part of an origin, history and ethnicity which your ancestors factually are Not historically responsible for.
All of the African foods seem familiar or are THE SAME because Africa colonized Spain at one point in time and brought over all their food. Like Horchata is African, Tamarind is African, paella is Jollof rice, Cassava is Yucca.
I don’t know who started to the rumor that you shouldn’t chew. Issa lie ….Ive been Nigerian my whole life…lmao.. I can assure you if you don’t chew you might choke. If there was ever a situation whereby you wouldn’t need to chew then it would be when eating fufu (umbrella term) with okra stew…due the texture ..it lubricates your throat and slides right down. (Even then I still chew) …Every other stew paired with fufu requires chewing…I beg …don’t injure yourself 😂 CHEW!! also moi moi looks bad or good depending on who makes it. They just brought it to you looking crazy. It’s a party dish so you usually find it at weddings ..birthday parties etc. it’s made from ground beans ..tomatoes..scotch bonnet peppers..and some other stuff. You can pair it with other stuff …I’ve rarely eaten it alone. It is steamed similar to the way tamales are steamed though. Glad yall enjoyed the food though. I hope you get to try other Nigerian dishes …we have SOOOO many from our many different tribes too.
I think it’s very important to emphasize that Pounded Yam is NOT Fufu, they DO NOT taste the same, smell the same and the texture is equally DIFFERENT. The only thing they have in common is they are ALL swallows as we call them in Nigeria 🇳🇬, and this includes Eba, Semovita, Amala, Starch, Elubo, Tuwo etc. Btw I don’t think it’s fufu you guys ate, I can bet it was pounded yam. We DON’T eat swallows with stew, they are eaten with soups.
Its easier for them to classify all swallows as fufu. They don't know the difference so its allowed for them. The main thing for all swallows is the soup you use with it.
@@dolaisaiah6748allowed for who? We really need to stop this habit of changing the name of things so people can understand. It’s time people start to take the time to respect and take the time to learn. Also I see it as an American thing to call every type of swallow called fufu. It’s not done anywhere else.
I think it’s a Nigerian thing to differentiate fufus = swallows. We don’t have the word “swallows” So most of African call it fufus I’m Congolese and we call all of them fufu we have fufu banana = fufu with plantain base , fufu gari = Gari and etc
My nose scrunching everytime i hear "Fufu and stew". I get that in the west and Asia, soups gotta have that more watery consistency. But every African i know calls the accompanying dish for fufu tofu a "soup" instead. Whether fufu, pounded yam, her loving twin, aka poundie i think, they all go with sOuP varieties from across the African continent. NOT STEW😅😅😅
Sometimes the moi-moi can be taken with jollof rice AKA Red rice according to you. Moi-moi can also be paired with a thick tomato sauce or vegetable sauce. Great with garri as well
You guys are right the moi-moi is usually part of a dish as a side. Goes well with the jollof rice or white riceand stew.. Alsk a correction Jackie Apiah is not Nigerian, but she stars in lots of Nigerian movies .
I don't know if they got a Nigerian to help with this but the Moi Moi could have been presented much better. Anyways, this was nice to watch. Love the different reactions from the team.
Anyone in Seattle should go check out Bantaba African Restaurant in Lynnwood. It's Gambian food, and their jollof is an absolute symphony. OMG that place is so good.
Fufu can be made from a myriad of things: semolina yucca yams potato flakes etc. Moi moi is a delicacy and time consuming to make. Nigeria has quite literally the best and most delicious varieties of foods on earth. The fruits also are absolutely divine!!
A description and make up of the meals would really help people trying our foods for the first time. E.g. explaining to them that Moi-moi is made up of blended cowpeas, mixed with spices and seasoning and steamed. In my opinion, they'd have better appreciation of the meals.
helloo fellow 12 year old nigerian in U.k anyways moi moi isnt actually eaten with other stuff i mean sometimes with fish and u can have different types of soup or stew with fufu there is alson "garri" or "eba" u an also use that instead of fufu i recommend trying fufu and ocro soup or fufu and wait i forgot the name anyways . @Iamreallyhungry it's funny how I've only ever had this at home. My cousin learnt how to make it, from her hairdresser. I've never attended an event where this was served. Lol. I can't try most Nigerian dishes because they contain fish, so that takes away a lot of stews. And I don't like plantain when it gets too ripe and mushy. It's too sweet for me when it gets ripe. I can snack on fried plantain all day.
The appearance is unnerving because it’s not good from your country. It’s not unnerving to people from Nigeria. If you’re going to try the food: try the food.
Calling native Americans the false term “Latino” is the first lie. ONE, HISPANIC DOES NOT MEAN LATINO. HENCE WHY THEY ARE TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TERMS. NOR ARE THE MAJORITY OF SOUTH CENTRAL AMERICANS AND MEXICANS EVEN “HISPANIC” AS IT IS A MISNOMER SPANISH TERM. REAL HISPANOS ARE THE PROMINENT DESCENDANTS OF HISPANIA AKA SPAIN. SOUTH CENTRAL AMERICANS AND MEXICANS ARE NATIVE AMERICANS WHO WERE CONQUERED AND RULED BY SPAIN. AND REAL ETHNICALLY LATINO MEN AND WOMEN ARE THOSE OF PROMINENT MEDITERRANEAN ITALIAN DESCENT. I REALLY WISH THAT NORTH AMERICANS AND OTHER INDOCTRINATED COUNTRIES THAT HVE BEEN FALSELY INFLUENCED BY THE ERRONEOUS ANGLO LANGUAGE WOULD LEARN AND RESPECT ACTUAL HISTORY AND ACTUAL HISTORICAL CULTURAL IDENTITIES AND THE SOLE PEOPLE WHO ARE ACTUALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THEM. THE FALSE TERMS “HISPANIC” OR “LATINO” ARE NOT UNIVERSAL TERMS FOR NATIVE AMERICANS WHO WERE COLONIZED BY LATIN EUROPEAN COUNTRIES, IT IS INSTEAD ERRONEOUS TERMS MISUSED BY UNEDUCATED PEOPLE AND BY THOSE WHO SUFFER FROM PSYCHOLOGICAL CULTURAL DETACHMENT ISSUES. REAL LATIN/LATINO MEN AND WOMEN ARE THOSE OF MEDITERRANEAN ITALIAN DESCENT! “Latino/Latin”?! No. REAL ethnically Latino men and women are the prominent Mediterranean descendants of LATIN EUROPE, specifically those of Mediterranean Italian descent. And we have typical Mediterranean features, That is what ACTUALLY being ethnically Latino represents. Hence how the place Latina Italy got the historical Latin name *LATINA* because that is where the REAL Latino culture and ethnicity comes from! Southern Europeans ARE the REAL ethnically Latino people. Indoctrinated Americans, mostly North Americans have adopted the Anglo languages false linguistic influences of the misappropriation, mutilation and cultural R@P3 of ITALIAN Latin terms and identity. Anything else calling itself “Latino/Latin” is a historical Falsity as You can NOT be part of an origin, history and ethnicity which your ancestors FACTUALLY are NOT historically responsible for. Indigenous Americans, mestizo Americans, Castizo Americans, pardos, Zambos and those of sub Sahara African descent of south Central America and Mexico who were colonized by Latin European countries have absolutely NOTHING to do with being ethnically Latino. That is ALL “Latin” America was named to mean, to mean the part of the Americas that were conquered and ruled by Latin European countries in opposition to “Anglo” America which was conquered and ruled by Anglo Europe. It ends there. Claiming to be “Latino” has become trending propaganda to appear more desirable for social status for social advantage amongst those who suffer from psychological cultural detachment, only uneducated people from indoctrinated countries tolerate and encourage this delusional nonsense. It is the cultural R@p3 and cultural erasure towards actual Latin Mediterranean people. REAL Latins are racially Mediterranean people who share much of our DNA with the Middle East, North Africa and other Mediterranean groups such as Greece and Albania. Genetically we do Not share the same genetic DNA as northern or Central Europeans due to the Mediterranean which has always been the contributing factor to our racial differences. THE TERM LATINO COMES FROM THE LATINI TRIBE OF ITALY! LATINO IS SINGULAR FOR LATINI AS LATINI IS PLURAL! THE SAME WITH LATINA BEING SINGULAR AND LATINE BEING PLURAL! THESE ARE ALL LATIN TERMS FROM ITALY AND ARE STILL USED TODAY IN THE ITALIAN LANGUAGE AND IN ALL ROMANCE DIALECTS SPOKEN IN ITALY! AND THESE LATIN TERMS HAVE BEEN USED FOR ALMOST 3,000 YEARS IN ITALY! INDOCTRINATED AMERICANS/ ANGLO LANGUAGE SPEAKERS HAVE CULTURALLY BASTARDIZED AND MUTILATED ITALIAN LATIN TERMS AND IDENTITY!

REAL LATINO PEOPLE ARE ITALIANS/ LATIN EUROPEANS. AMERICANS/ THE ANGLO LANGUAGE HAS MISAPPROPRIATED AND BASTARDIZED ITALIAN LATIN TERMS AND IDENTITY
@elettramia6380 can you please make it shorter and not yap
Most people in the diaspora have Nigerian ancestry!!❤❤❤❤
The moi moi looks too dry but I love their reaction through out the entire video 😂
Thanks for trying out our dishes. Its get you enjoy 'em too.
She said it’s the best rice she’s ever had ❤
All of the African foods seem familiar or are THE SAME because Africa colonized Spain at one point in time and brought over all their food. Like Horchata is African, Tamarind is African, paella is Jollof rice, Cassava is Yucca.
Awwnnnn…. Thank you guys!!!❤❤❤
Did I just hear "fufurella" from Alex? 😂😂😂😂😂
So it’s evident that carribeans have similar taste buds like some Africans
It's actually the reverse, look at where the ingredients come from
I don’t know who started to the rumor that you shouldn’t chew.
We don’t have the word “swallows”
So most of African call it fufus
I’m Congolese and we call all of them fufu we have fufu banana = fufu with plantain base , fufu gari = Gari and etc
I'm Nigerian and with the reaction from y'all, I'd be sooo jealous if I wasn't 😌. And yeah, our food is pretty spicy 🤭.
The Moi Moi is best served with Jolof Rice assuming you dont want it with Garri or Agege Bread Sef.🤷
Great Video ❤
My nose scrunching everytime i hear "Fufu and stew". I get that in the west and Asia, soups gotta have that more watery consistency. But every African i know calls the accompanying dish for fufu tofu a "soup" instead. Whether fufu, pounded yam, her loving twin, aka poundie i think, they all go with sOuP varieties from across the African continent. NOT STEW😅😅😅
Finally. I thought I was the only one seeing this😂😂
Loved the video but I cringed there. Nobody is eating fufu with iour kind of stew, which is just a tomato sauce.
Thats not every african its only Nigerians that use it incorrectly. Go to Ghana and everyone knows soup is watery and stew is thick.
3:09 it's not stew .. it's vegetable soup 😂
If you think Nigerian Jollof Rice was good, wait until you try Senegalese Jollof Rice
It is a joke: Senegalese jollof rice 🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱
Why is it a joke ?@@calitomms22
Byeee😂
Did I just hear you're funny ‘fufu’ 😂😂🤣
Why is all the shallows regarded as fufu ?💔😭
That was pounded yam aka IYAN🖤
Sometimes the moi-moi can be taken with jollof rice AKA Red rice according to you. Moi-moi can also be paired with a thick tomato sauce or vegetable sauce. Great with garri as well
Yes moi moi isn’t typically eaten by itself. There’s a few options for what to pair it. My favourite is pap and garri
You guys are right the moi-moi is usually part of a dish as a side. Goes well with the jollof rice or white riceand stew.. Alsk a correction Jackie Apiah is not Nigerian, but she stars in lots of Nigerian movies .
The way they react to the swallow makes reminds me of the swallow I had at this event just this week ❤
Loved watching this, they were very receptive
Kennya is correct. Moi Moi can actually be a side to rice, can be eaten with bread too. But a really good (imo, the best pairing is a pap dish.)
I NEED TO SEE THISSSSSSS❤️❤️❤️❤️
You are right? Moimoi is paired with many varieties of food, from soakie (garri) to others.
You're right...moi moi is usually paired with rice or a peppery sauce if you're eating it on its own
Fufu can be made from a myriad of things: semolina yucca yams potato flakes etc. Moi moi is a delicacy and time consuming to make. Nigeria has quite literally the best and most delicious varieties of foods on earth. The fruits also are absolutely divine!!
Fufu is made from one thing: cassava. The others are other types of swallow. Fufu is a kind of swallow
I literally eat fufu with any kind of stew I make. You could even make butter chicken and fufu.
Caribbeans please take note, even the Latinos pronounce “plantain” the right way 😅 5:37
On behalf of the Caribbean contingency, we rebuke you! 😀
Screaming, Yes we rebuke and cast out that demon!@kwamephillips3767

Fufurella got me rolling,😂😂 what??😂😂
Moi moi has a lot of partners- Bread, pap, custard, jollof rice, white rice,
Fufurella🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you we love a lot of spice
A description and make up of the meals would really help people trying our foods for the first time.
E.g. explaining to them that Moi-moi is made up of blended cowpeas, mixed with spices and seasoning and steamed.
In my opinion, they'd have better appreciation of the meals.
Senegal originated jollof rice.
How do you know you guys originated it is it because it’s was written on the internet because Nigeria won’t travel to Senegal to learn anything
Even though the way it's cooked is different, do y'all want us to mention the things that other west African countries got from us ?
Rest jor
try the moi moi with bread you go enjoy life😉🤤
helloo fellow 12 year old nigerian in U.k anyways moi moi isnt actually eaten with other stuff i mean sometimes with fish and u can have different types of soup or stew with fufu there is alson "garri" or "eba" u an also use that instead of fufu i recommend trying fufu and ocro soup or fufu and wait i forgot the name anyways . For jellof rice u can have with salad pure perfection ty for ur time bye
I got to try more of the soup with yuca but hands down mushroom rice is NUMBER ONE. ❤
Aww Monica's here!!
Jollof (basmati - don’t judge me) rice, fried chicken, fried plantain and coleslaw salad 🔥🔥🔥
I’m not Nigerian but love that combo
I'm Nigerian and you just described the rice combination at every event😂😂😂😂
@Iamreallyhungry it's funny how I've only ever had this at home. My cousin learnt how to make it, from her hairdresser. I've never attended an event where this was served. Lol.
I can't try most Nigerian dishes because they contain fish, so that takes away a lot of stews. And I don't like plantain when it gets too ripe and mushy. It's too sweet for me when it gets ripe. I can snack on fried plantain all day.
I always say the true spicy eaters are Africans/nigerians. My Indian and Latino friends think they can handle spice until they try Nigerian food 😂😂😂
The appearance is unnerving because it’s not good from your country. It’s not unnerving to people from Nigeria. If you’re going to try the food: try the food.
0:01 Girl no one better than Cameroon🇨🇲 for me but yeah Nigeria indeed has very good food✨️
Fufurella really 😂…the girl in green sweater is more open minded to the food👍….Notin beats Nigerian jollof#proud Nigerian🇳🇬
0:02 I detect NO lies😩🙌🏽🤞🏽
I love love Monica. She is really the vibe.
Try pounded yam and Egusi you will love it 🇳🇬🇳🇬
Whoever you guys ordered the food from likes spicy meal. I cook these meals with less 🌶 peppers. THE Moi moi does not need a lot of peppers. The red rice is called jollof rice.
Why will you give them just moimoi🌚 no pap no custard to pair with bread atleast 💀
The chewing is your choice though, im Nigerian i chew mine. From since when i was a kid 😅😂

Normally you swallow the fufu and chew the vegetables, that is why it is called a swallow food, however some people chew it
