This was great - I appreciate your attention to detail and the magnification of the LCD display. All I know about the EX5 is from watching your videos. I wish I had more time to master it. Absolutely love it.
Scored an EX7 last week. Popped a new battery in there and time to learn. Your videos help a lot getting a quick understanding of the machine! Thank you :-) Loving the self-modulation, even though I still have to learn how to control it. Reminds me of the Korg 707 crossmodulation mode :-) Also: subscribed :)
The damn Montage should have this capability along with a modified A-3000 type of sampler, VL-1 physical modeling and the formant synthesis from the FS1R. Yamaha leaves great technology behind instead of just building upon it.
Thanks for watching! I agree. The new workstations are powerful, but they're taking away features with every generation instead of adding features or improving...
good tutorial, but even better job dusting ur ex5 lol, that shit is clean! And question, the self modulating fm fdsp setting is per oscillator, correct? There is no option for modulation one oscillator with another, right?
Hi, thanks for watching! Haha, yeah, 4k videos tend to look embarassing if you don't clean up your gear before shooting. ;-) In my opinion, the 4 "operators" are stacked, a simple a>b>c>d algorithm. You can try yourself by setting up 4 sinewaves and turning on self fm for one after the other. the sound will get more distorted with each step (and also sound exactly like it would sound on a 4 operator fm sound like the Reface DX). I also created some patches which take advantage of this behaviour by applying a pitch envelope to one of the "operators".
Hi! I have a EX7 and I would like to know if is possible to increase volume of a part in performance mode with Modulation Control. Nice video and Thank you!
Hi, there are two ways to solve this that come to mind. You could use an external midi controller and assign 16 knobs to CC 11 on their respective MIDI channel. Or you edit all the patches used in your performance to listen to a specific knob / mod wheel for volume changes. (AWM volume is what you're looking for, then).
great video man! please, learn insert sample of other keyboard`s and where find voices to sample for ex5... you unic today with tutorial of keyboard... thanks!!
Thanks for watching! The best place atm is the EX5 Facebook group: facebook.com/groups/45885016014 and there's also www.ex5tech.co.uk . If you search on Google you'll also find some shops that sell sounds. And there's my web page, www.floydsteinberg.com, too :-)

Thank you very much! The EX series is something special, they take years to explore fully.
Great help getting use of the FDSP thanks 🙏
You're welcome! :)

Good! Just a small detail - 8:56 - it's not Release, but Decay.
Thanks for watching and commenting, Daniel! I just said that to check if you're paying attention, er-hum, cough cough. ;-)
@@mr_floydst No problem! Your videos are perfect, very well done, and it's nice you share your deep knowledge.

@@mr_floydst thanks man!!!
Good work :-)
Thanks! :)
Yellow Submarine ftw.
:-) I was quite surprised to see this on sale in 2020. Seems they sometimes create themed series of toy cars they'll sell for a year or so.
