This is probably the best anime from the 70s

Flowers of the field
Do not toil or spin
Quietly they yield
Swaying with the wind
In the evenings fair
After summer rains
Hear them whisper in the air
Countless, without names
That won't be my destiny
Born with the roses strength and pride
To face the torrents of high tragedy
For want to bend, scattering wide
Versailles' roses
How they did bloom with dignity
Versailles roses
How beautifully they died
I'll endure this hell
Living for each day
'Til some blasted shell
Has the final say
In some future time
Too far off to see
The flag of our Commune will climb
Once more in Paris
That will be our destiny
Bourne of the roses' strength and pride
To face the torrents of high tragedy
For want to bend, scattering wide
Versailles' roses
How they did bloom with dignity
Versailles' roses
How beautifully they died
