I just ran into the same issue and found your video while searching for the part. My dryer is back in operation! Thanks for making this video, sir.

Man ive tested everything, bought a new thermal fuse, bought a new motor and just got installed and it still wont start, im about to check the timer switch
Edit: Dude my timer had the exact same issue and that one piece was broke in the exact same spot as yours, after being a month without my dryer, replacing the motor, replacing the thermal fuse and testing everything with a multimeter I did exactly what you did and it works now, you are mad scientist

Love it..... My depression-era dad would say something similar- "how can I fix this without spending any money?" Growing up, Pop would look at something, fire up a cigarette, go back in his little shop area, and come back out with whatever was needed. Good job! Subbed!

Oh my goodness! i imagined that there were all kinds of wires and parts in the timer! i was 5 minutes away from scraping the dryer when i saw a video of a guy opening it up and cleaning the terminals. so i opened mine...i didn't have the same problem.... then i saw the picture of yours and the inside was the same as mine! and sure enough.... there was the tiny piece! i did just a you did...!!! it worked! i still can't believe it worked! That i fixed it myself, because of your video! I'm dumbfounded. Thank you so so so much for posting this!

I did exactly the same to fix mine: the outmost metal piece doesn't contact the adjacent one when tested with the meter, which is hard to spot with naked eyes!

Most of all I appreciate your tenacity and resourcefulness. Often if we take a little time and apply our wits we can avoid throwing away items that might otherwise live to see another year! The timer motor is running on my kids dryer, but not advancing. I'll be curious to see why. Thanks for taking the time to share.

like your ambition. I have an '86 kenmore gas dryer that needs my attention on a similar issue. It correctly calls for heat, but the control knob simply doesn't lock into position. I'll take your approach and see what I can find. what controls the dampness. I presume it's the item with the two metal strips seen attached to the inside of the drum. I'll check continuity on that as well.
    thanks for the motivation.

In my case I simply removed the timer (the round disk) and it works perfectly. The button was very hard because the white gear of the timer barely moved and therefore did not make contact. No matter how much I scraped the terminals, it was still the same. Now it works perfectly, but without the timer.

I have a timer like that for a Whirlpool dryer (230 VA). The knob is broken and it sweeps, then I have to rotate the center pin with a plier. If I uncover the timer, how can I identify which is the start position or zero position of the knob? I mean the start position of the central pin since the knob is broken. Thanks for any help

And the reason that the small plastic "ear" broke off the cam is because when people are setting the timer to the cycle they desire ,almost everyone will turn the knob back and forth (left and right) as if it's a channel dial on an old style TV set... Please Folks, when setting (turning) the Timer ALWAYS turn the timer in the same direction as the timer automatically advances to while running..Usually Clockwise...Don't wringe the timer back and forth...
