Side note for the people here actually enjoying the game, you can get rift crystals from people renting your pawn and repairing rift stones in the open world, i dunno if there's a third way but it's not a premium currency, art of metamorphosis is even the cheapest item you can buy with rift crystals so don't listen to the people complaining about the "micro transactions" they exist but it's not necessary. Some good tips and a basis for how you want to think about party comp. My only slight concern with a sort of meta forming around making your main pawn either warrior or sorcerer is that it would mean the rift would be flooded with those vocations and pawns not of those vocations, ie; the crucial mages, would become less common to find and hire...

My mage is currently running high palladium, celerity (hopefully upgrading this soon to high celerity), fire affinity, and high halidom. My party travel for days at a time without needing to rest. Don’t even need the mage to have any offensive skill, cuz celerity basically helps with the party dps buff already. Idk why they decided to make this move buff your movement speed AND your actions. Cuz holy, the fighter and the thief in my party, the moment they get buffed, melts anything they see. All I have to do is keep an eye on my mage pawn and make sure to tap him every now and then to help him recover stamina, and he will carry the whole party.

  • @anotherfacelessname9270

I'm an archer and I have the heavenly shot skill, so my party comp is fighter, warrior, mage and myself currently. Although, I find that fighter, fighter and mage works better since the pawns are better at using fighter and mage than any other vocation. Also, since I'm in the back dealing massive damage, I like to have two tanks drawing aggro from the bosses; and and vocation can fairly easily deal with trash mobs.

Pick thief as main pawn, give him a bit of gear, all damage skills but legendary one that is the one that makes him dodge for free one attack and he will be both pretty much since he dodges often and most of the time will be running the legendary skill, so they will be unkilleable and do an atrocious ammount of damage. As it was on the first game, helm splitter (or whatever the english name was, the skill that you jump and do an attack roll in the air) is absurdly strong for pawns

First thing first: there's no "best pawn" for the simple reason that you have YOUR pawn + 2 other pawns.
So if there was a "best pawn" then you would have 3 times the same pawns which would be useless.
In reality the best thing if you want to focus on pawns for allies: support pawns like "Tank", "Healer/Support", "Sorcerer/Archer" (with good stuff abilities). Dmg fighters & Rogue will bring less to a majority of comps cause most players will play dmg dealers in a way or another.
The 2nd best thing is "Specialisation" which is super important, you can make a pawn to make farm easier, heal in combat and so on... so better try to use things that other pawns arent doing.
The 3rd is knowledge that is great to give usefull tips / tricks for combat (all those medals) + ofc quests but it's less important. (medals also give a good idea if the pawn discover a lot of the map or not which is a great advantage to find chests and so on)

My go to is fighter pawn from the rift making sure they’re set up as a tank with provocation and shield summon, my main pawn is a sorcerer with meteor equipped (u get it from finishing spellbound quest, GET IT if you don’t have it!!), mage from the rift making sure they have mostly healing and buffing abilities set up when picking one out, and then I usually play as mystic spear putting the invincibility bubble on everybody as much as I can and sapping stamina as soon as I run out or sometimes I play as magic archer just for fun and extra healing/revival. I can really be about any vocation with that setup and it’s easy mode as long as everybody’s stats look good (good weapons and armor equipped. ALWAYS compare pawn’s stats and skills equipped when picking one out). If they don’t have fighters set up like tanks and mages set up like white mage/healer/buffers, they’re playing the game wrong. If someone managed to transfer the provocation augment to a warrior, they can make awesome tanks as well, but unfortunately they don’t have shield summons or whatever the advanced form of shield summons is called…

Got through the whole video... my main question seemed to be intentionally avoided... What about Trickster?
Every time you mentioned other classes for the Arisen, you never mentioned Trickster... Everything we learned pre launch made it feel like it falls somewhere between Tank and Support, so if we play the Trickster are we taking the Tank Slot from Fighter/Warrior, the Support Slot from Mage, or does that depend on the build/skill loadout we choose?
Do we need a Trickster addendum later on since maybe you haven't put enough time into it yet? Or are you just labeling it as "advanced strategies" from the get go and thus ignored it for 21m?

I play warrior, big slashy boi. My main pawn is a sorcerer, big zappy girl. So for pawns I pull from the nether are a fighter and a mage. The fighter pulls aggro and can launch me onto larger beasts and my mage drops heals the whole time. I’m level 34 and I’ve only legit died one time with this party configuration.
It’s also super important to constantly upgrade your main pawn along with your MC. Don’t worry about dropping gold for yourself and your pawn because the game seems to rain gold.

keep an eye out for pawns with augments from vocations other than the one they're currently using. That generally means they're the pawn of somebody who knows how the game works and has set them up in a useful fashion. Like a mage with the increased intelligence augment from sorceror, that sort of thing. Stuff that makes sense for the role you want them to play as opposed to random augments slapped together.

Genuinely I have a hard time recommending anyone take an archer pawn. You would think they would be hard coded to prioritize taking out flying/hard to reach enemies so you can focus on the things on the ground as a warrior or fighter, but as someone playing my party's main tanky chunky melee boy, my number one frustration is falling asleep to harpies when they should be plucked out of the sky in moments.

Similar to people recommending fighter over warrior pawns. In theory they would be right but in practice both thief and warrior are leagues better than archer and fighter in my experience. Warrior pawns have alot less trouble holding aggro and making foes flinch/knocking them down which fighter is OK at until you run into anything stronger than a goblin/wolf. Thief is stupid busted early game like they kill shit so fast its almost too good I feel disappointed that I wasn't able to participate cuz they wiped everything out lol.

I Macey main a mage because of 3 reasons. 1: I like to easily change buffs and remedies based on the situation. 2: Your pawn's personality seems to have a significant effect on how they perform their role and I want my mage to be consistent not just in their spells, but how they use them and how they use their specialization. 3: Many people I ple have the same thought you do on hiring mages. Mine gets hired ALLLLL the time as a result and I'm swimming in RC.

They really did a lot more damage to make mage and sorcerer feel distinct in this one than in the original, and Palladium is a major component to that. I felt a lot more squishy but a lot more DPS oriented once I switched to sorcerer.

Just find the particular fighter build you like and then you're set and never really need to change it. Fighter just seems much less situational compared to mage in that regard.

No brainer for me to have a hireable mage pawn with looks and just the right tools to be useful in every single scenario. Also I'd say early on being a fighter is way better, and even having 2 fighters is better than one fighter and a thief. But at around lvl 20s, you can definitely have a combo of each of single vocations. Fighters are not to be underestimated in the damage department either, just they're a little more gear dependent. Also Imo, there is such a thing as TOO much damage, don't over level your team in such a way where you're ending battles too quick, or at that point, you've switched mentality to trying to win the game, instead of adventuring.
