    What Is Technical Analysis?
Technical analysis is a trading discipline employed to evaluate investments and identify trading opportunities by analyzing statistical trends gathered from trading activity, such as price movement and volume.
    KEY TAKEAWAYS
Technical analysis is a trading discipline employed to evaluate investments and identify trading opportunities in price trends and patterns seen on charts.
Technical analysts believe past trading activity and price changes of a security can be valuable indicators of the security's future price movements.
Technical analysis may be contrasted with fundamental analysis, which focuses on a company's financials rather than historical price patterns or stock trends.
    Understanding Fundamental Vs. Technical Analysis
    Understanding Technical Analysis
Unlike fundamental analysis, which attempts to evaluate a security's value based on business results such as sales and earnings, technical analysis focuses on the study of price and volume.
Technical analysis can be used on any security with historical trading data. This includes stocks, futures, commodities, fixed-income, currencies, and other securities. In this tutorial, we’ll usually analyze stocks in our examples, but keep in mind that these concepts can be applied to any type of security.
Technical analysis operates from the assumption that past trading activity and price changes of a security can be valuable indicators of the security's future price movements when paired with appropriate investing or trading rules.

    110'% agree.
When I started out 4 years ago I had no rule based strategy; no risk management nor any trade management.
In short: i didn´t have a trade plan, back/forward tested - and got my @ss kicked like everybody else in this phase.
Worked though it (horribly painful experience!!) and ended up becoming reasonably consistently profitable.
At that time I was watching 10 markets at the time and it it took me 7-8 hours of screen time and taking way too many trades.
Exhausting, made good money but it was not the life I wanted.
    Fast forward (past 2 years) - it´s a HARD process (!!!):
    a) I now trade only ONE pair (eur/usd)
    b) for max 3 hours (London/NY overlap)
    c) same boring setup all the time
    d) risk 2% with a 1R breakeven 2R profit management (= lose $2k, break even, or make $4k on a $100k funded account)
    e) only 1 trade per day
    f) close my laptop as soon as I am in a trade - with SL, BE and TP set.
It took me AGES to believe that making great money this way was even remotely possible, but it IS!
I average a 45% hit rate with a 1:2 RR, and it is golden....
Nowadays, trading is NOT my life - it´s just what I DO 3 hours a day (plus a couple hours a week to review my trades) to enable me to do a SH@it load of other fun things I want to do, whenever I want to.
    Keep it simple.
    It´s all in your mind.

Sucks that risk management videos always do worse than the strategy ones, I know first hand how important risk management is from trading without a stop loss on indices to over-leveraging and nearly blowing accounts. Thank you for helping me improve from that. 🤝

I reckon it’s the phrase “risk management” that people are turned off by. Once I understood that any strategy that you create that backtests 50% or more successful can make you a tonne of money… that’s when I found “risk management” extremely interesting!! Thanks again for the vids.

I'd really like to thank you, I am now surprisingly profitable, thanks to your advice, particularly highlighting strict risk management. consulting a probability table, at a 50% win rate the trader faces a 9% probability of having 10 losses in a row when trading one instrument. It seems prudent to have a risk plan which can handle an event which happens less than 1 time out of 10. The table I´m using does not go past 10 consecutive losses but I imagine having 25 consecutive losses, as you mention in your video, might happen 1 out of a 1,000 times or maybe less than that.

Great video... sure wished it is done for a longer period of time.
But while it is very unlikely to lose 100 times in a row. It is possible to have many more losses in a row than wins in a row in 300 trades that can wipe out your account with coin flip trading. This is especially true thanks to spread and the fact that it is twice as likely to hit a 1% stop loss than a 2% take profit.

Really love your work! However, there needs to be some discussion on the understanding that a 20 pip move is more difficult than a 10 pip move. So as the ratio goes up your win rate will go down. This has nothing to do with a coin flip.
So this makes the choice to increase the ratio very tricky. Would love to know your thoughts

    I love your videos.
I understand that risk management is important, but I have "experimented" a bit with cryptos and I was often stopped out because the volatility was too high, i.e. I had first 1% minus before I had 0.5% profit.
If I had set my stoploss at -2%, I would have made profit because the chart first went down 1.5% and then went up 3%.
How can I solve the problem of being stopped out too early but still not losing 20% in a big crash?

You can try the 50/50 method using a one or two period Stochastic on hourly.
At the opening of the session go long if below 50. or go short if above 50.
Another idea: Go long and short at the same time, the winning side should be twice as big as the loser.

Hey Arty. You're my go to guy with trading..
However, a 1-2 percent trade on $20 seems impossible to trade on. I mean it's doable, just loooooong. I have to face it that I couldn't do that on a $20 account. The numbers add up, but are just seemingly miniscule to see a large enough dent in my mind. Makes sense on a $1k or a $10k account as the numbers add up quickly.
However, things begin to change with 10 pips on a compounded account when its 10% of an account being risked on every trade with a 1/2 ratio. Then it seems like progress is being made. But there is more risk and get less chances over time when the stop loss is hit. So there is a balance between higher risk vs patience.
Do you have advice (besides don't do it) on how to manage this type of trading? I know it's risky, but perhaps increasing an account quickly at the start can eventually lead to implementing a 1-2% strategy. What are your thoughts on accounts? Apologies if this seems counter intuitive to all your videos.
