    Brilliant Tutorial, I struggled to follow the Ali Express I structions and diagrams, but using this video, I was sorted instantly. I am using it to terminate the charge of RC 4 and 5 cell Nihm packs, so 7 volt upper with 6.8 volt lower is working superbly. Thankyou

    Well explained👋 Your channel is my go to section on RUclips whenever I need to check reviews on such modules. But I just have one question on this XY-DJ. Can I connect a solar panel on the NC and an AC charger on NO of the relay? I did this on my YX-850 ups module. It worked for a month but eventually burned the relay. The current was only 5A, both from solar panel and AC charger. I was thinking of automatically charging my battery via AC charger if power from solar panel is not available. Thanks in advanced 😊

I want to know if I can connect the solar panel on the Vin and the batteries and the load in parallel on the OUT Port. • @robojax
      @robojax  4 года назад +2

      You are welcome. Yes you are right it should work. I mentioned it because people don't know about Stat Of Charge (SOC) or a battery and other parameters. If you know all parameters of the battery, then you can use it and it is not automatic. Lithium batteries need different current at different stage of charge. So if you can handle that, use this otherwise this will reduce the life of battery.

      Actually this Module is Not a charger at all. All it does is read the voltage and Connects the charger to the battery. It doesn't control how the battery is being charged. There are two main types of chargers. PWM and MPPT. MPPT are used for deep cycle, lithium and a few others. PWM are basically for car battery types. I won't go into why and how they work. There are several videos and sites that explain all that. All this module does, is connect those types to the battery as I said before. The MPPT chargers already come with overcharge protection (discharge protection not so much), so if you want to use it for that then that's an option but the actual proper charging is handled by the MPPT.

    This module have one fault in Mode U-2, when detect for first time low limit voltage start to charge, if reach high limit voltage stop to charge, and will start to charge again when detect low limit voltage, but if time is reached before than high limit voltage, then stop to charge, but never start again to charge when detect low limit voltage, you need to power OFF and ON the module, or reconfigure again Mode U-2 to reset the module, or dont start to charge never more in mode U-2.
    And is possible that have the same error in all modes that use timer.

    I understand the reason for switching the AC supply but would be extremely worried about the very short creepage path between the relay's coil terminals, which are at battery potential, and the relay's contacts which, in my case, are at 240 volts. There is not enough separation .

    • @robojax
      @robojax  4 года назад

      for 220V even 1mm is enough. Only when it is above 1kV then space matter.

    • @JUANKERR2000
      @JUANKERR2000 4 года назад

      @@robojax Thanks for your reply. The 1 mm that you suggest is the distance in dry air that can be bridged by 1 kV in the form of an arc. I believe that the accepted separation of switch contacts in air is 3 mm at 240 volts, 'though I stand correction if I am wrong. On a PCB there is the risk of tracking, particularly if the surface is contaminated and/or is in the presence of high humidity which is why the better type of switched-mode AC/DC power supplies feature a slot in the PCB between the primary and secondary sections of the circuit. Big Clive is at pains to warn us of insufficient separation, either on the PCB or in their transformer windings, in his video strip-downs of dodgy USB plug-in adapters. In any case thanks for a useful lesson in the use of the module, I've had one for some time and was in the dark as to its features.

    If I use an AC Adapter (Output 19V---2.64/3.43/3.16/3.68A) is a Left Side Input 6V-40V still required? And is that Left Side Input (6V-40V) AC or DC? I'm assuming the Output (0-60V) is DC because it's obviously going to the battery. Is it Input on the left (AC or DC?) or AC Charger Input on the top right? Is it a choice, one or the other, AC Charger Input or Input on the Left?

    Watched your video (nice) and was wondering will this work as a discharger for Li-ion 18650 cell(s)?
    Would like to place a single cell in discharge mode and have the unit cut off the charging voltage to the cell at 3vdc. Does this have that low a setting didn't see the setting for cutoff discharger voltage set to 3vdc?

    • @robojax
      @robojax  3 года назад

      Thanks. this module doesn't know anything about discharge. But it can watch the voltage. Lithium battery has state of charge and when voltage goes below 3.2 or something like that, is considered discharged but it varies by the manufacturer of the battery. so Yes. this can work if you set proper voltage. But remember this can't control the current and that is very important. otherwise you battery will get damaged. See this video to learn about battery charging ruclips.net/video/0mOqpCfAdy4/видео.html or about battery protection ruclips.net/video/3dwA8A8VrrE/видео.html

    OK - I have 19V going in and Alligator Clips on the battery side. Nothing is connected to the three screws on the Relay Area. I set the parameters for U-2 as follows - Lower Limit 12.8V, Upper Limit 14.4V and to run for 20 minutes. The Battery Voltage is 12.77, so I expected the XY-DJ to begin charging to 14.4V, however, it only shows 12.5V and hasn't changed from that for the last 10 minutes. What's wrong? Can you help with that?

    • @robojax
      @robojax  3 года назад

      instead of the battery connect a bulb. see if it turns it ON. unless the wiring is incorrect, or power supply is bad. if you set the limit to 14.4, and battery voltage is lower than that, it should charge.

On the RIGHT SIDE, if I'm using an AC Adapter (Description: Input 100-240V - 1.5A, Output 19V - 2.64/3.42/3.16/3.68A), is an Input on the LEFT SIDE still required or does the AC Adapter on the RIGHT SIDE become the Input?

    I'm in the U.S.A. All your wires on the right side are Black, and that's confusing for learning purposes. In addition, the connection of the Light Bulb as it relates to a Battery is totally not in view. We really can't see anything when you are making this connection. The Battery is not in view either. I have a Laptop Battery Charger plugged into the wall that changes 120V to 19V, and that is connected to the LEFT SIDE INPUT of the XY-DJ. So 19V is supplied to the LEFT SIDE of the XY-DJ. With that in mind, on the RIGHT SIDE, the diagram suggests that a separate Charger needs to be plugged into the wall (120V) as well. In this case, a light bulb, and the positive wire needs to be cut and placed into the COM PORT (the center screw) of the Relay. Then the positive exits the Relay from the Lower Screw Terminal and is connected to the Battery Positive Terminal Wire, and that finally connects to the Battery Positive. Battery Negative on the XY-DJ just connects directly to Battery Negative on the Battery. Is all this correct? Please let me know. At present, I have never connected to the Relay Ports.

      @@robojax I connected a light bulb on the Battery Output Terminals. I get nothing. Also, the meter reads 00.00 Volts. When my Battery was connected, the meter was reading the same voltage as my Battery - 12.77V. I guess it was back feeding the Battery Voltage onto the XY-DJ Meter. On the LEFT SIDE, I have 19.3V on Input. Without any outside wire connection to the Relay, is it connected to Battery Output on PCB? If so, the Relay may be causing 00.00V on the meter and no output whatsoever. Is that a possibility. Again, do I need two items plugged into a wall outlet to make this Charger/Discharger work? One for Input Power and another for the Charger on the Right Side? Let me know. Thanks.

      No you can't. UPS works with AC and this can sense only DC. if you sense DC from an adapter, it has capacitors and the power will turns OFF in about 1 or 2 seconds.
