Not my preferred mounts, but what an epic ride. A great bunch of guys. Beautiful country. I think Evan Firstman said it best when he explained his background at the climbing school. Skills and desires for a certain activity often are formed at an early age and transfer over to other forms of sport later in life. Well done you guys!
No room for any negativity here. Adventure has a different meaning to each person. Even these 15 men experience the same adventure in a different manner. We all have a different way of experiencing adventure, that is what makes it an adventure.
The Continental Divide really is the trip of a life time. This video is one that inspired our trip on the northern half from Glacier to Denver on a DRZ400 and two KTM EXCs. Were are releasing our video series right now. Come check it out if you want to see more of the great Divide. #CrustyCrusaders
People primarily do it on bicycle so you could probably do it on a TW200 and still have a blast! There are a good amount of miles where you have to get on state roads at like 55mph so that's something to consider. @@andrewpquinn
Looks like a great trip. Thanks for the video., I usually ride solo, lets me decide when, where and for how long I'll stay, Do a lot of fishing and camping that way, really enjoy taking my Tenere offroad as well.
i enjoy the vid of people who do the same thing on smaller bikes without all the equip and backup. while trying not be judgemental, i prefer the less elaborate trips, they show you that you dont need all the stuff money can buy.
I came for the cool video. I left at 09:00 because of the unnecessary "music". Why do some video producers want to screw-up otherwise great videos with crap music.
The editor wants to show off his/her "skills", that's why. MANY times I've come across otherwise great YT vids which are destroyed by totally unnecessary and distracting "music". So I'm with you 100%.
Thanks McQuico!! I'd say do it. That bike changed my life. You can email me through my website and we can talk about details if you need any ideas. I don't have all the answers, but I know people who do! www.therideofmylife.net.
yes big bikes off road is tough to say the least but this is a big trip with probably big pavement mls to get home at the end which is no joke on a drz650 or smaller. Its a free country and life is an adventure all about making memories with friends and family. So if you eant to take your bmw tenere ktm african twin klr drz whatever do so and at the end of the trip some guys would change there bike for the next trip some wouldn't whatever floats your boat.Just enjoy. All that said that a big bloody group of guys!!!
Average age of these guys? Loved the vid! I'm 73 and just bought a 2018 Kawasaki 400 ABS KRT (the incredibly great-looking one) Edition. The devil made me do it ; )
Not sure why there are a few negative comments. It 's like they say in the hiking community....HYOH or hike your own hike. Some folks (haters) seem to think every undertaking has to be the way they envision it or it's not legitimate. I say bullshit to that way of thinking. I thoroughly enjoyed your video and would have considered giving my left nut to have been on that trip. The video shots were some of the best I've seen. You guys killed it. :)
Outstanding Video. Great story, excellent video quality, beautiful scenery. I've emailed in hopes of contacting one of your riders. Living vicariously my desires to be back out west.
Those mad men are the Kiwis! Don't tell anybody but one of them is famed superbike Champion Aaron Slight. The camera work and editing was Emmy Award winner Jared Davis. He IS the Epic Nomad!
Looks fun. I've never been on an adventure bike. I understand that standing is necessary while riding in the dirt. Seems like at least one guy is standing in almost every shot on pavement too though? Is it me or are they overdoing it a just a little bit? Tongue in cheek guys. Like on my Hog I have to rev the engine at every stoplight to remind myself and everyone around that I am indeed riding a Harley!
Oh, I see you use motors on your bikes. I assumed it was pedal power. Great either way, I imagine (former BMW 900 rider; current rider of titanium-framed cyclocross bike).
Can you please PM the climbing guy's name at 35minish mark? Thanks in advance. My father in law was a wild child/climber from the south west back in the day. I hear stories of him surviving a big drop off of half dome that made it into a book. He was caught by his belayer but it was pure luck due to him being harnessed into some trees instead of the rock that he had already fell past.. That Crazy Jumping Jack was great and fucking crazy calculated SOB! I'm currently trying to plan a trip of the TAT in part in memory to him and the other to my own Nana that passed(Well with some detours to make it our own) East to West. Thanks again for the post.
Does happen sometimes, even if you have crash bars installed. Just need to get that one bolder between those bars. Ask me how I know... That’s when a support truck with donor bikes/parts comes in handy. And a satellite phone, of course. Takes less than an hour to do the surgery, even in the wild.
Hello....nice video. I am from mexico. I am planning to do it. It is possible to have the route in GPX to load it on my gps. Do you know where I can find it. Regards Giovanni
I noticed something that struck me as odd between thirty and thirty three minutes in to the video. It may not be odd to you but I have never seen a tire do that. watch the blue BMW's front tire. the tire will shift side to side exposing the rim. Did not notice any other bike doing that. Am I correct to assume the tire should not do that?
It's not so much the money to do it because people ride this on bicycles. It's more like the time to do it. That is where most people will say no way. The job, the kids, the wife, the former wife, the house, the car, the bills, the pills, the time.
Ben Brookman Hey Ben! Thanks for watching. The tires are Continental TKC-80s. By a considerable margin, the best off-road tires for these bikes. This route was the continental divide. Zero technical abilities needed and not challenging beyond the endurance needed to ride for eight or nine days, straight. It's like riding through a postcard!!!
Great footage, but a little less swagger please. You're riding a bike down a road where you could take a Cadillac - with support - and an army of guys. Great ride, have fun, but this whole thing would be a lot more palatable with a little humility.
sorry, i love all of these stories. but this just seems like a bunch of older men with a TON of extra money "playing" adventure. way too structured. it's like going on a paid tour instead of backpacking through an unknown country.
Eric Preble you nailed it! It IS a bunch of older men, and yes it's a tour totally structured with maps and campgrounds designated for each evening where the camp has already been set up, with catering tents upon our arrival. Is it an adventure? Of course not. But it's a way for people to dabble in the experience to see if they like it, with very little risk or learn a little bit so we don't get our asses handed to us if we ever try to go it alone. I consider it like going to a rock climbing gym, instead of actually rock climbing. But I got a tell ya, it was freaking awesome!! The tour provider was a RawHyde Adventures, Castaic California. Www.rawhyde-adventures.com
Adventure? Follow the Leader to the lunch wagon. Id like this stuff but I can wipe my own ass and read a map and set up a tent and cook. To many people. To each his own adventure. Kool ride. Some funny shit on the wipe outs. I ride a Beemer 13 R1200RT cruzer but for that I ride a Honda XR650R. Crash no worries. It's not 20.000 bike! Plus I would do it by myself or a few friends.P>S> No big hammers needed. TARD! GS Duel sport tires/Dirt?? DIRTY BIG BIKES NO BALLS NO GLORY NO BRAINS!!!
Always a few idiots on here who don't understand, sit at home doing shit all criticising videos on here. To be honest I love the video, music, guys and the bikes. I have a GS1200 and do what I can off-road UK. Brilliant piece of work. Keep doing it.
I thought this would be full throttle shredding adventure video. All those rock music and badass voise talking. They are riding like 20mph. Even my 96y old grandma could do better. Nice bikes, but wayyyy too heavy for them beginners. They should start 650 gs or so...
Looks fun. I did it on a bicycle, no motels, self supported, alone and it was a great adventure. Tailwinds to all fellow wanderers.
Not my preferred mounts, but what an epic ride. A great bunch of guys. Beautiful country. I think Evan Firstman said it best when he explained his background at the climbing school. Thumbs up! a thousand times thumbs up on this video. Thanks for taking me along via video production on an amazing adventure ride. I wanna go!
Nothing better than good friends and great trails! Great job capturing this Adventure!!
It was such an awesome trip. The people and personalities on this adventure were some of the best, ever
now that's something to add to Bucket List been all over the USA but did very little back roads to get there.......really enjoyed this...thxs
Great video, great music, great bikes, THANK YOU!

Terry Waldrop Thanks Terry! Couldn’t agree more! Apparently a couple of keyboard warriors bought some bikes somewhere along the way.
😂🤣

I've been watching your channel too! Lots of fun. Great to see someone not taking themselves seriously.
Cool to hear that people are doing it on some smaller bikes. I can't really afford a big GS, plus they scare the crap outta me!
People primarily do it on bicycle so you could probably do it on a TW200 and still have a blast! There are a good amount of miles where you have to get on state roads at like 55mph so that's something to consider. @@andrewpquinn
Thanks for the heads up! I was thinking about a KDX200 you see those on Craigslist all the time. @@motospud2253
Great stuff, cool editing, beautiful varied landscapes, perfect background music sync, good story & travel experience..
Awesome video, thanks a million! Really enjoyed the story around 35mins at NOLS.
Looks like a great trip. Thanks for the video., I usually ride solo, lets me decide when, where and for how long I'll stay, Do a lot of fishing and camping that way, really enjoy taking my Tenere offroad as well.
You guys would LOVE riding in South Africa!
Looks like a lot of trouble riding your adventure bricks. I love the way the tires go way up in the air when you fall. Love the production well done!
Outstanding!

Absolutely fantastic trip guys! What a great country the US is .... Awesome , I'd love to visit and ride there, one day maybe .... One day

The “Adventure Music” is intolerable.
Yup. Agree
Inspirational!! Thanks for sharing this.

i had hoped it was pedal power but these guys are pussies
Was there any camera footage actually looking OUT? Epic ride, but didnt see any of it, just a LONG BMW GS commercial.
Damn, that footage starting around 28 min mark...... so good
Do you think you will do it again?
Hi guys
What's the name of the song playing at 21:27 ?
Amazing video!
If you have a support vehicle carrying all of your gear why ride such large adv machines and not some true dualsports??
Thats what the GSA made for. The the perfect trip for that bike.

How are those big GS's when they go down; does anyone ever experience cylinder/head damage?
Raymond Winney they are heavy! And most folks that ride off-road have skid plates and crash bars.
Does happen sometimes, even if you have crash bars installed. Just need to get that one bolder between those bars. Ask me how I know... That’s when a support truck with donor bikes/parts comes in handy. And a satellite phone, of course. Takes less than an hour to do the surgery, even in the wild.

Did BMW provide all the bikes, or did everyone in your group already own BMWs?

Subbed
Thanks! More to come...
Whats the name of the song at the 30min mark???????
man one thing i wouldn't like about a massive adventure bike would be not being able to see your tires on the slow technical terrain
daft nord no need to see your tires really look where you want to go
Is there a definative trail map with fuel stops listed or anything? A web site with advice? I know there is for hikers, but motorcycle or 4x4?
Jason, check out Rawhyde-adventures website and look up Continental Divide. It's all right there. Loads of other tours, as well.
It's not so much the money to do it because people ride this on bicycles. It's more like the time to do it. That is where most people will say no way. The job, the kids, the wife, the former wife, the house, the car, the bills, the pills, the time.
Just out of curiosity why BMW VS. KTM?
Paul V KTM! I don't like the BMW 'S horizontal heads, the way I ride
Really need to rethink the background music if you can even call it that; and the language I will not even begin to talk about.
GaryLordsWayMinistry I apologize for that.
Thanks for watching, anyway!
Those are the kind of friends I need. I bought a 1200 gs last year and have only 2000 miles on it....that is a crime
550 pound bike street tires and mud. (well most of them have street tires) looks like a pain in the butt to me.
Not saying it wouldn't be a great ride or it was a bad video, liked the video it just seems like a heavy bike to try and push through the mud.
I think the bikes are a lot more than 550 lbs. I bet they wish they were only 550.
i'd ride with y'all

I recognize that voice...
I think you could do all that on /5 and not need shagg wagon and have just as much or more fun
WOW! .... All those Beamers with rooster tails!!
Anyone else having weird playback issues with stop and go.
Im missing something , O I know cigars lighted with a $ 100 bills ....
Look at me on my GS

Geez the budget on this is ridiculous, the guys are old and spoiled. Must be nice. Great soundtrack though
That's why they all ride BMW's LOL it's a status thing, it's ridiculous, it's like going off-road in a box truck.
Hey I have a BMW, I was referring to the massive sponsorship dollars
