So yiheng canj 2 look 3x3, one look full f2l, insane block building/x crosses, learned to be color neutral AND is now pearning zbll... cubing is over now
Apparently Yiheng isn't actually exactly color neutral. It's just that he can sometimes plan all of F2L color neutral in inspection, and last layer is easy to be color neutral with anyway. Apparently if he has to improvise it, there's a very significant hit to time. It's just that his inspection super power exempts him from having to do color neutral F2L on the fly, which is the hard part of being color neutral (for people who didn't start that way anyway).
The Heise method is what you're looking for. The world record will eventually belong to someone using classic Heise. It's not used because it's too difficult for most cubers to even learn (seriously) much less get fast with. But now that we're seeing crazy things like people learning one look last layer fully, one look F2L, Ruihang TPS, etc., I know it's just a matter of time. It won't happen until CFOP has been essentially maximized though and records have been stagnant for years. There will be a Roux revolution but it won't match CFOP. Then people will start thinking outside the box and someone will get serious about Heise. Sub-10 times with it are on camera already. It takes about 40 moves on average. If someone with really high spatial awareness starts using inspection time to complete the Heise rough equivalent of F2L, it's over. Just 10 TPS with Heise would yield a sub-4 average.
It's an interesting prediction, however, the thing is that efficient F2L into optimal 1LLL is usually going to be under 40 moves too so there will probably have to be something else found to really improve much on that
I think just 2 people can beat him on future: Ruihang Xu if he improves his efficiency (And he's currently learning ZBLL, and already using some of them) and Tymon, he's starting to get insane singles with almost no pauses. I doubt Max Park will still improving on 3x3 for a long time, maybe 4x4, 5x5, 6x6 and 7x7.
