Seems like you're becoming a local celebrity if local pilots start to know your name :D
Happy New year, Ryan.
Not only PNG, but around the world, for example, I am watching this video in Chihuahua Mexico, many miles away.Best wishes for next 2024, greetings!
I was born and raised in Nigeria, the child of missionaries, and vividly remember flying to and from boarding school. SIM had its own air fleet, primarily Piper aircraft. It was very exciting and helped attenuate the onset of home sickness. My parents were with SIM and my brothers and I went to school at Kent Academy and Hillcrest.
Happy new year to all who view this video 💯
Ryan. The Lord will protect you always in your missionary flights.
As I'm watching this you're about six hours into the new year. May 2024 be profitable and exciting.
Samaritan Aviation is one of the Mssions that my church supports. I have a friend who has been out to PNG with his grandson a few years ago. He was the one who brought SA to our attention. I was surprised to see the SA logo on the plane.
🎉🎉Happy New year! 2024! 🎉🎉🎉
Hammering with a screwdriver at the fuel drums could create sparks, which can ignite the fuel fumes.
So be careful.
I think, there are not much fire fighters at this remote location.
Have a great and prosperous 2024
Good morning from Minnesota USA! Great episode!
Be well, stay well!!!
happy new year from me and my husband who loves watching all your vlogs from UK
Also from Germany Happy new year🎉🎉🎉
And always happy landings
Hi
What neat scenery - no rush hour traffic with snow
I like to wish you and your family a Happy New Year's Eve.
Happy New Year....2024.....Thanks.....
Stay safe
Thank you for a year of excellent flying.
Another excellent video Ryan, all the best for 2024👍
A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you sir.
Recently discovered your channel and enjoy it for nostalgic reasons. I spent 2 1/2 years in PNG as a Peace Corps volunteer back in 1988-91. I would occasionally fly out to remote communities in Southern Highlands Province with MAF to oversee water supply projects. Lots of good memories there. Appreciate the work you do.
Happy New Year from Malaysia...I enjoy your videos...be safe and healthy,,,cheers
Man I wish I could be a pilot
Happy New Year Ryan. Time to get your helicopter endorsement mate? I always liked Hagen and I must say that the lady in ATC at Hagen was great!
I was going to transition to heli last year, but after burnout, I chose not to
Always good to have another arrow in your quiver. You may like to reconsider?@@MissionaryBushPilot
Happy New Year and may God bless you and all the other missionaries out there in 2024!
Happy New Year and may God bless you and your family
Hi Ryan l did enjoy watching that flight, l thought it was very interesting, glad you made it to your destination to Mount Hagen with a good big tarmac runway.
Awesome video Ryan. You are doing God's work and I am sure that the locals are all happy to know you. Dedicated Bush Pilots are hard to find these days, so you are definitely a desired catch. Thank you!
Happy New Year.
Our great MAF pilot in our country Papua new Guinea..Ryan and your family God bless you.
Very well done on letting the other aircraft land first. Also, well done on planning your flight with your passenger's comfort in mind.
happy new year, you've already seen it through. just under four hours for us in UK. Thanks for the content and showing us the fantastic views in Papua and wonderful flying opportunities for flight simmers the best flights ever for budding pilots and wannabee's. Bush pilot heaven.
A very happy new year Ryan. Loved the flight, spectacular scenery……Roger
Happy New Year, Ryan and family. God bless.

Happy New Year to you and your family from a somewhat wet and windy UK
Happy New Year Ryan !!!
Nice vid
Ryan a blessed belated happy New year 2024 to you and your family. You are doing an awesome work to many of my country's wantoks who lives in many rural places only accessible by plane. God bless.
Thanks Ryan, happy new year mate!
Thank you Ryan, and happy new year to you, your family and crew.
Very interesting from the aviation and social point of view, thanks.
Happy New Year Ryan!! 🎉🎉 May God’s richest blessings be with you and your family 🙏🏻👍🏻
Another Great Video Ryan... Happy New Year to you and yours and may God Bless you all.
Happy New Year Ryan for 2024..May God bless you and be with you! Safe flying bro for 2024. Enjoy your vids.
Happy new year Ryan; keep up the amazing content and stay safe.
Enjoyed the flight. Happy New Year! 🙏
Thanks for the great editing and the inclusion of close ups to the engine and the MFD! This is very helpful, along with your thorough narration, to help us understand your procedures! It would be equally interesting to see how you program the flight plan into the MFD and how you use it to do approaches. Thanks!!
God bless and protect you! Had several classmates at LeTourneau (late 1970's) who were MKs from PNG. Fascinating to see what they described.
Happy New Year!
Fly safe.
Happy New Year, Ryan. May God bless the work you are doing and keep you safe.
Keep it up, bud. You are doing amazing things with your life.
Love the scenic fly by's. You live and work in a gorgeous part of the planet.
Love being able to live vicariously through you.
I also enjoy being in the air with you. I started my pilot training at 40 years old, but ran out of budget. Life got busy. But I miss it.
Thanks for providing me this outlet. I absolutely enjoy the technical stuff because of my background.
Be blessed!
Once again a great vid!
thanks, man
Happy New Year Ryan, always a joy to watch.
A Very Happy New Year Ryan. Looking forward to many more excellent videos.
Thanks Ryan for another great video
Views really spectacular from ur plane
The river meanders r stunning but not sure if there's crocs in them
Beautiful smooth landing AS USUAL!
Thanks again Ryan
All The Best
Jo-Anne & Winnie 🇳🇿
Happy New Year Ryan, thanks for all you do!
Happy New Year. I enjoy listening to your in flight route discussions to handle weather. As a non-pilot staying low seems a lot of work and potential risk, weaving around inside those valleys. I imagine a lot of trade offs to keep in mind (reduced options for alternate landing site, fuel economy, how to make O2 available to passenger, climbing/descending through clouds).
……saw Missionary light planes’ on strip at Wewak, the-then TPNG………
We had some missionary pilots here in Idaho practicing on some of our Backcountry airstrips.
Happy new year Ryan, you folks remain in my thoughts and prayers. love from Rick
Thanks
Happy New Year Ryan and thanks for the great content. I really enjoy the detail and effort that you put into your videos for us. Have a great year and I wish you every blessing and success as you continue your journey. (Eph. 3:14-21) 👍🙂
Hi Ryan. Can you please explain a bit about the helicopter operation? I'd love to hear more about it :)
Me as well!
Hey Ryan. Did anyone say you posted your phone unlock gesture? Just FYI. Love your vids.
Recently Subscribed and enjoying your work video's. Worked on Bougainville in the early 80's and OK Tedi mine ( Tabubil) in 1984 and remoteness and density of the places was an eye opener when a young man. I remember flying to Daru from Tabubil and onwards to Cairns and thought the runway on Daru was short then but looking at some of your flights I think it may have been a long runway, have you ever done a flight to Daru?
Send the money!
Happy New Year and thanks for the great content. Have you ever come close to a PNG Taipan or any other no so welcomed critters?
Nope
Happy new year Captain Ryan. Any building progress with the school and first aid hut?
🌏🇭🇲
The school is getting ready to build the 3ed building. I'll cover it when they start
You must be doing something right when commercial airline pilots recognize your call sign and know your name! Another fascinating video - don't think you've had so much interaction with ATC in any previous videos - very interesting to see how it works in PNG. The Baiyer Gap certainly looks a better option for getting around the actual Mount Hagen mountain - I must give it a try as when passing down to the west of the mountain the ground rises up quite suddenly and a 7,500ft ceilng isn't enough. My copy of "Above the Treetops" has arrived and it's a beautifully produced book, very nicely laid out. Happy New Year to you all.
Great you enjoy my book
Thank you so much for the videos I bet to learn a thing or two I am a pilot c208 grand ex I would like know the application you are using planning your flights
Great video is always Ryan. Sorry I was wondering if you could please explain when you're talking about times of departure and arrival Time 08 Departure arrival time 57 6:49
57 is 57 mins past the current hour
Im always curious about the foods you eat in such an exotic place.
Nothing special. Lots of chicken and veggies
You're an aviation legend Ryan. I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Still awaiting my coffee table book. Aussie appreciation by the other pilot and me from down under. Have a safe and wonderful 2024.
"Above the Treetops" arrived today!
I’m interested to know what you are doing now, February of 2024, I saw your video from a year ago that said you were leaving Papua New Guinea heading back home but had enough videos to last until about now
Ryan, out of curiosity for the country where you live and work I have been reading about PNG online. A lot of articles I've read mentioned conflicts between neighboring tribes which sometimes lead to significant violence. Is that a real problem in PNG, and if it is, does it affect you, your family, or your missionary organization?
It's not a problem for where I live
Did you ever meet the guy in the other plane landing at Mount Hagen who knew your name?
No
What aircraft do you fly? I thought you're always flying a Grand Caravan. Someone just told me that you fly the Kodiak. I'm not an airplane expert; but the Kodiak looks smaller than what you're flying.
It's the Kodiak 100... similar to the Caravan but about 4' shorter
With that area being so much jungle/ mountain terrain where do you land on engine failure? Or do you always fly at high enough altitude to glide to a field ?
Believe it or not, there are quite a few off airport places to land in PNG
@MissionaryBushPilot good to know , from the footage it looks so remote and I noticed was a single engine. Cheers mate , people like you are quite literally inspiring the next generation of pilots.
Happy New Year
♥️🙄 praying God's Blessings of wisdom, joy and the love of Christ for all of our families. In Jesus name! Amen. And the peace of Jerusalem and all of the promised land.
Even so come quickly Lord Jesus!♥️
לטוס זה כיף
In Jesus mighty name I trust and believe in prime Creator God's universal law of One. I am blessed 🙏 Amen 🙏
I'm curious if you get to know a bunch of thee other company pilots? Call to wonder, do you and your wife? Hang up with the other pilots and their wives? I'm curious what's social life is like on the island.
The world is now tied to these godawful mobile phones sadly.
C'mon mate, don't be modest, your a celebrity now...😅 ppl will know your name..
But more importantly, what's with the hairstyle these days? Getting a bit scruffy...😉😆
Just lazy and don't care to shave
How can you live with yourself flying missionaries. You should be ashamed.
