Good to see the chains working. I guess some people don't understand. When you have as much snow as you did last time, you're looking for anywhere to put it. Sometimes, across the road is the best place.
Those work great so you did a good job on them you could just buy them cheap chains for the front wheels but whatever you seem to know what you're doing take care nice video
Over the summer you may want to look into the length of the cross links. I think if you shorten the cross links by 2 to 4 links this would bring the outer and inner circumference chain higher up the tire. You could use zip ties to tie together links shorten them for test fitting. If you want to get fancy using lap links, I suggested last video, or you could use cross links as well.
Yeah, I might make some modifications to them over summer, but for now they work...Maybe if we get a break for a week or two this winter I'll change things up a little, but with all the snow we've been getting I need to have them ready!
Looks like your homemade chains work pretty well. I grew up on a farm when I was a kid, as far as turning, I don't know if your tractor have a right and left break but you can turn the wheel push down on one of the breaks down on the side that you are turn in it'll slow that wheel up and the other one will speed up and it'll help you turn. Farmers would use that same technique when they came to the end of the field and they needed to turn right around and go nearly back the way they came. Thanks Michael ☺️
It does have steering brakes, and honestly I’ve never thought to try that in the snow…I’ve used it in the field before, not sure why it didn’t click and give it a try. I’ll be sure to try that next time! Thanks for watching!
Great Job Looking good. Okay Fort Wayne Indiana Last Night and today. Not as much snow as thought. But last night -10 degree -30 wind 50mph wind. Right now -3 40 mph wind ugh time for work.
Elliot, for some reason I would have never thought of making my own chains. I enjoyed seeing your thought process making them and it is great to see them working for you. I have enjoyed seeing your content and subscribed after seeing the first video I watched. Keep up the great work! Wishing you and yours a Merry Chritmas & Happy New Year.
Another awesome video.I love my kubota and really enjoy watching others use their's. Very important tip about back dragging. When bucket is tilted all the way down the pressure of the spoils being dragged is all at the very end of cylinders.last couple inches or so.This causes damage to cylinder and piston.Very expensive cylinders. I've seen them split and rams bend and it doesn't take much.Snow is probably safe if it's not wet, but dirt and heavy rocks, logs ect can.Hope to see u pull a plow or disc.
I don’t have a plow, and I traded my discs in for a rototiller. I you should be able to check out all my tractor videos using attachments on my “kubota L4701” playlist on my channel! Thanks for watching!
Chains look great my bought chains have a large gap like that as well. Check with your highway department you may be able to grab a cutting edge from a grader for you back drag. They usually replace them around here every storm the wore out ones are still about 4” wide could be a good start to your back drag project
While that’s a fantastic idea. I use rubber cutting edges on my driveway because I have millings. The rubber cutting edge for my pusher was $10. I was thinking of just getting 2”x2” heavy wall tubing and slap a rubber edge on it
I'm not sure if anyone mentioned or thought of this, but what if you aired down a little bit on the tires a 3-4 psi. i wonder if it would help them fit better. Just ordered my first set today. Thanks for the video!
My rear tires are filled with liquid ballast so I don’t believe it would make as big of a change as one would imagine. Since I made these myself I wasn’t expect an absolute perfect fit, but they work very well for what they are
Chains on drive wheels make a huge difference. We had them on all our tractor during the winter and spring months. Don’t get me wrong you can still get stuck but if you don’t try anything too ridiculous you are able to get through most deep snow and muddy areas a lot easier. You can always add a section of chain in the areas that seem to be lacking. Oh and I just subscribed.
Thanks for watching! I’m very happy with the way they turned out, I might add some very minor modifications to them to button up that gap I have where the chains meet, but besides that they work great!
That is a nice tractor.. I don't run tire chains at all.... That was my reasoning for buying a Kubota four-wheel drive... Haven't had an issue yet... As far as steer chains I hear say from some it's not highly recommended could cause front drive part issues... Just use your brakes to help steer a little or take some load off the snow pusher raise it a hair
With the snow we get even in four wheel drive I lose traction. Go check out my last snow pushing video where we got 5’ of snow over a weekend, and you’ll see what I mean. Thanks for watching!
Great video, Elliott. Good to see your chains work for you. Are your rear tire filled, or is the barrel ballast all you use? It seems to really work for you. Merry Christmas!
The tires are filled as well. I put the ballast on there to make sure I have as much traction as possible! Merry Christmas to you and your family as well!
The pusher is the exact size of the machine. I might go for a 7’ if I did it again, probably wouldn’t go any bigger than that, mainly because the door I pull my tractor into is 8’ wide.
I must be a weather man then because I tell the wife she’s going to get 12” and really she gets 6” 2 times that night (if I’m feeling energized that is).

They seem to be working fine for now, I might modify them over summer when I have some more free time! Thanks for watching!
I’ve plowed across the road since the blizzard of 77/78. Of course I leave the road clean too.
But most leave it a mess, that’s the issue. If I have to go across the road I try to leave my portion of the road in better shape than I found it.
Good to see the chains working.
I guess some people don't understand. When you have as much snow as you did last time, you're looking for anywhere to put it. Sometimes, across the road is the best place.
On the internet, everyone has an opinion…that’s all I have to say about that. Thanks for the continued support! Enjoy your holidays!
I do commercial snow plowing and have properties that I push across the road. As long as you clean it up nobody cares.
@@jkholley1118 aint that the truth. Everyone does it. But man you shoulda seen the people burning me in my last snow removal video.

My old ATV chains are very close to fitting, they would just turn out like the back and have some gap to them…I might have to make it work.

Awesome Sir fantastic job DYI!!
Thanks! They sure do make a difference!
enjoyed it bud, keep it up,

stay safe out there
Winter storm Elliott is here and hitting hard! Stay tuned for that upcoming video!
Glad to see the chains are working
They are a game changer! Thanks for watching!
Pretty damn cool you were able to make chains and save some money. Great job!
Thanks for watching. I love trying to do everything I can myself rather than purchase. I learn new skills and save money in the process
Hope you have a Merry Christmas Elliot🎄!
Thanks man! You too!
Snow chains do make a huge difference ❤️❤️
They sure do! Very happy with the results!
Nice work Elliott!!

After seeing a couple of your videos and subscribing, I really do miss snow. NOT! 😆 🤣 😂 😹
Happy holidays. 😊

That's why I call them the weather guesser's.
I think they just throw a dart at a spinning wheel with numbers on it
@@EverythingElliott Sounds about right.
Question: is there something drawing the inside chain together, or is that only needed on the outside?
Just the outside.

Hi great video I have a question what is the name of the tape measure you use to the deck with ?
It’s a lufkin tape measure. I believe it’s glow in the dark as well if that’s what you’re gettin after
@@EverythingElliott yes it was I never seen a tape measure like that before
What grade / size chain did you use to build those?
I believe it was 3/8s, I have a whole video on how I built them on my channel, go check it out! It was posted like a week prior to this video
How wide is your machine vs snow pusher? Would you get one any wider now that you have the traction?

@@EverythingElliott how much wider would a 7' be than your machine?

Tires on my 3005 jd are turf tires never have problems in snow
Go back and check out my 5’ of snow over a weekend. I don’t think there’s any tire in this world that would push that snow in one go.
I use a 54 inch frontier snow thrower when we get six or 7 feet
Dont fill ur ditch with packed snow it backs water up in the spring
Ditch is still about 3’ from the snow piles. Ditch runs right on the wood line
