Benromach has always been a go to whisky for me, both cask and normal strength. Just dam fine whisky, y’all!

Benromach has always been one of my favourites. I enjoy the classic 10 year old, and occasionally their heavily peated cast strength. Their new label design stands out better than the old one.
Benromach reminds me of Springbank with its distinctly funky note
I bought 3 bottles of this Batch 1. Full strength, bodied, not overpowering peat or smoke, complex with bit added water to open up the nose and body. Finish lasts for days.....Lovely gem!
This is not the batch 1 that I have here in Canada but if it's anything like the one I have it's one of the best whiskies in the world. Benromach is the Springbank of Speyside.

Batches are denoted relative to the distillation year. So there's a Batch 1 each year. I'm guessing your bottle is the newer white-label?

I love Benromach and am happy to see it getting the love it deserves. Just hope the love isn’t seen by so many people that it becomes hard to find.
We visited the Benromach distillery on our visit to Scotland and had a great time! Great whisky and great atmosphere!
that's the old bottling and the new stuff is rebranded with a very different look now. that batch 1 CS 2018 is on close out at K&L for $39.99 and worth getting a half case of which I did get.
Benromach has been my hidden gem for many years now. Was one of the first scotches i ever bought that made me instantly go back to the store and buy four more.
As for the bottles... they've recently changed their marketing. I liked the old best (shown in this video) but the new has nailed the classic scotch look.

Benromach 15 was my introduction to this brand which I loved, but the Cask Strength bowled me over. Very unique and distinctive taste compared to others, much like a Laphroaig is to Islay.
I visited Benromach in July 2019. In terms of old school, non-mechanized production they are the Springbank of the north. By the way, I own the music you are using as your theme song. I look forward to seeing my $14,000,000 check in the mail.
I have to chip in with a word. A shipment of this stuff ended up in my neck of the woods back in early March... and went on SALE FOR $40.

I came across this a few months ago. Someone brought it to NFL place off party. Our host and the guy who brought it thought it too Smokey. I mooched at least half the bottle. It was glorious.
For clarification on sulfur smell.
Matches = Sulfure Dioxide.
The sulfur smell people associate with rotten eggs is hydrogen sulfide.
two different compounds that have sulfur in them. The common egg relation is more widely known. Some people think matches smell cause of phosphorous which isnt true.
I got my dad into Benromach 10 and it was one of my first Scotch whiskies. Definitely going to try this.

Benromach 10 by far one of the nicest affordable single malts I have in my cabinet, it gets restocked regularly. Nice when you fancy a little peat hit rather than an Ardbeg day
You guys were barely done with the review and I was already on Google to try and figure out the closest liquor store to me that carries this. I have to travel to that state up north of me. Oh well, worth it for this it sounds like. lol.
This distillery is worked by like only 3 guys I hear. They have less capacity that almost all others except Edradour. This batch 1 is delicious. Can’t wait for more.
First distillery I every visited! Amazing. Very torn about telling other people about it...
Also recommend the Peat Smoke series especially the sherry matured one, it's fantastic! I feel Benromach is sooo underrated, but at least, affordable and imo one of the best price/value ratio out there.

I have never understood the marketing statement "The Classic Speyside etc." annoys the crap out of me, and I got no good answer from the distillery as to why they think that's a good idea. I enjoy the 15. Will need to try, um, batch 2 of this one.
My only comment is that this is old stock, Benromach changed their bottle/label from this design 2 years ago

The Benromach 10 is a classic entry level. I have the 15 which is complex and rich. The branding has changed though. This is the old branding?
I have two of these batch 1 but I paid full price $80. So it sounds like the 10 is okay and the 15 is closer to a Springbank 10?
That's the old bottle design. The new one looks like cheap bottom shelf vodka. Very understated.
How would this compare to Kilchoman Machir Bay? I know MB is a an islay and this is a spey but MB's got the berries and cream/yogurt/granola notes that I really really enjoy coated in peat.

There is NOTHING “understated” about that medallion and that beard.
Hearing Daniel's definition of what he thinks sulfur is explains so much. That's not what sulfur smells like at all. It's the right sensation but really wrong smell.
Also why did they get an ice machine that they can never user rather then a mini fridge with a small freezer section and some ice trays? They could use the fridge for water bottles and always have ice without dealing with the sound of the ice machine.
That doesn't look like natural color...is it? And does Benromach chill filter their whiskies?
Rex would never make it past the Compass Box section at the liquor store.

Quality or quantity.... pick one because you can't have both for very long. I prefer the release schedule that is conducive to them keeping the quality and drive up. Daily will drive them into the dirt, and I wouldn't wish that anyone that I care about.

This is the nastiest scotch!!!! I am not a fan of anything peated. Tried it and it was nasty.
