@@HowToHaveFunOutdoors I don't agree with the lodging part, Okemo over Stowe is just outraging saying that Stowe has better rooms, better restaurants, better activities, better amenities & just overall a better resort. But if you are comparing prices then Yeah Okemo wins but if you are comparing lodging and their amenities then Stowe is above Okemo. Okemo does have a better mountain and more expert skiing, but the lodging is just not better bro!
As a generalization I'd say Okemo is probably better for intermediates and folks looking to cruise groomers. Most Okemo "blacks" are groomed and I'd compare them to the more difficult blues at Stowe. Just a whole lot of cruising terrain at Okemo, though I feel many of groomers at Okemo have kind of a sameness to them. Stowe is probably better for more advanced or expert level skiers looking for challenging terrain. Though the Spruce side of Stowe has excellent teaching terrain and is more beginner/intermediate friendly.
Great Feedback and we would agree. For expert Skiers, I would pick Stowe over Okemo. Some Great Black Diamonds at Stowe! Stowe vs. Sunapee will be out soon! Then Okemo vs Sunapee! You will like them also! Thanks for watching How To have Fun Outdoors RUclips Channel! Subscribe/Like/Share! Support the channel!
Thanks for the comparison. Never been to Stowe but Okemo was a lot of fun and a great place to ski mid week early March last season. Lots of great terrain. Never waited more than 5 minutes in line. Thinking about doing Stowe this year.
In 2000, my old boss at Vermont Snowmobile Tours was the first company to approach the ski mountains in that region to offer snowmobile tours at night on the slopes at Okemo. We would start at 5 pm and end at 10. We would go up and down the Mountain rd, Coleman Brook and Easy Rider from the bottom of the Poma line to the left of the main lodge. The grooming was phenomenal. They would use a roto tiller like a farmer would till a field at first, chopping up all the hard pack and ice for over a foot deep. Then they’d smooth out all that soft snow with the normal rake that gives the corduroy look. Fantastic system making nice soft trails every morning. Definitely a top notch system that was impressive to see first hand
Stowe used to have tons of more traditions. They used to have a mega jump into foam at the bottom of gondola, I always wanted to do it but when they fixed the gondola in 2015 or 16 they stopped and ya that’s about it with that. They used to have other stuff that stopped and Gail twisted a lot of that stuff and vail stopped a bunch of terrain parks at Stowe to like the t-bar etc
I agree with the comment before this one. Okemo is a great mountain for families desiring an easier skiing experience. Stowe is more challenging. For the real hard core skier, try Jay Peak. If you want a ski resort for everybody, Killington is a good choice, but a tad expensive.
Hey, Just Heads up for everyone, epic pass doesn’t honor there refunds policy. They have hundreds of reviews on Yelp and a 1 star rating, and a ton of stories like mine. I Just found out the hard way, I broke my foot a week before my trip.. I sent they everything they kept requested including multiple doctors notes, x rays, and discharge diagnosis paperwork stating that I had broken bone in the foot. After struggling for weeks to get anywhere I started to look online and found this is a very common problem.
You didn’t cover the difficulty of the runs how many blacks double blacks, blues, backcountry sking That’s what skiers are looking for. I believe Stowe would take that hands down. Stowe has triple the amount of black runs than Okemo with greater difficulty.
You are correct. As we mentioned on a previous post reply, we would agree Stowe wins on black/double blacks. We love these type of runs also. But as a percentage of skiers, the intermediate group dominates the numbers and this was an overall challenge. We also did a Mad River Glen vs Stowe. We also did a Mad River Glen review which had lots of backcountry skiing (more than Stowe). . Our general Stowe review we did (which does cover the amount of blacks, all the statistics) highlights all the great black terrain. In any case we agree, and thanks for watching How To Have Fun Outdoors!
For most skiers, Stowe has more and better runs. Top to bottom skiing is a real plus at Stowe. Much better steeps and bumps at Stowe. also better town and restaurants etc in Stowe. The only reason I would go to Okemo is if for some reason, I didn't want to trek to northern VT
Vail will run these in to the ground. Vail did an end around at blue mountain resort in Pa. using KSL as an umbrella. They KSL running Whistler and complaints are wild. Epic passes sound great but in reality you expect a nice day skiing and so will the other billions whom bought the pass. We are seeing the sport we love taking a down turn...why ? Investors (stock holder and Share holders) come first...everything else....not so much
Stowe has no Parking since vail took over .okemo has no lift from base to peak totally sucks waiting in line only to take a lift into the beginners section. And Stowe lodging and food and beverage may be the most overpriced in New England. No comparison on the trails Stowe is for real skiers okemo for families . Like comparing Stratton and mt snow
I'm a Canadian and love Vermont and Bernie Sanders and Republican governor and democratic socialist Von Trapp family and Stowe Quebec joke about trading Trudeau for Sanders for prime minister

Seriously? You ever spend time in Ludlow? This isn’t even a contest. Okemo you hole up in your condo. Stowe is a legitimate national resort. Minus the skiing, which is maybe a wash, zero comparison when judging the town of Stowe over Ludlow.
How the heck does Okemo Resort goes over Stowe?

Perfect summary. Front four at Stowe won’t be replicated at okemo

Thanks for watching and the tip. That is an older video. We are almost 4 million views in less than 2 years so we are still learning.
OKemo open today!! I'll be there tomorrow! Not much terrain yet, but its better than sitting at home.
We might see you there! We are ready to get the ski season started!! Thank you for watching how to have fun outdoors!

Hi Alice and Tom,
These are the 2 mountains my family and I frequent. Hope to see you on the slopes.
Awesome! Ready for some skiing! See you on the slopes! Thanks so much for watching!

The fact that Stowe is charging for parking now is a big slap in the face. Okemo all day !
It is crazy! Thanks for watching How To Have Fun Outdoors!
you should have a link you get commission on pass sales when taken
Thanks for watching! We have no connection with the resorts. Our goal is to promote work life balance and we do this for fun. Thanks again!

That is not good. Policy and procedure should be Straight forward like the cruise industry. Lets hope they fix the issue.
