      SilverFlare no dawg. He made bank account when he already had a fan base. We talking about songs that made him blow up.
      Songs like "no heart" there's more songs but that's one I know off the top of my head that Metro produced that blew up.

    • @eman0828
      @eman0828 5 лет назад +1

      You mean 50% of Writing and Composing the song? Beat Making is Songwriting. Producing is directing and overseeing the overall production and recording all the way down to the mix process. Two entirely different things. Timbaland, Scott Storch, Dre, and Pharrell Williams are tradtional Record Producer's Co-Writes the music as they are wearing two hats as a Producer and a Songwriter. That's why they get Songwriting and Production credits for both roles as they don't just sit on their asses all day and just make beats. That's the difference between a Beat Maker and a Producer.
      *PRODUCER=DIRECTOR*
      *SONGWRITER=BEAT MAKER/LYRICIST*

    • @Minurz
      @Minurz Год назад

      @@eman0828Those are exceptions. Majority of the time, the producer does all the work and heavylifting, including composition, songwriting, (production process) beatmaking, vocal cleanup, mixing, mastering, and everything in between. The producers make tons of beats, most of them go unused, and the singer picks one and sings/raps over it, and then the producer add all the vocal effects and cleanup/m&m. The artist basically just creates lyrics and performs dry vocals and adlibs. That's it.

      Complex Ez u can’t have a rap song without lyrics what the hell Is going on in your brain 😂 u can have a rap song without a beat as long as the artist has good lyricism to keep u interested
      Listening to a beat on its own is like listening to classical music

    • @eman0828
      @eman0828 5 лет назад

      You mean track makers? Beat Making is Songwriting as you are basically writing and composing half the song the *MUSIC(Beat)* and the Lyricist top-lines the Music that writes the *LYRICS(Words).* That's a 50/50 split between two Co-Writers that wrote an entire song together with Music and Lyrics combined.

  • @aidanfine

    Get yours. I'd say we're all probably better off developing alongside a singular artist, and coming up with them. Like 40 and Drake. Or working with a small group of people that you believe in. Be exclusive. If you're that good- don't associate your name with people who aren't.

    • @aidanfine
      @aidanfine 6 лет назад +14

      It really just depends on which artist and/or label hit you up. We have to remember that most Record Labels and Artists are actually businesses. Which means that their primary goal is to make a profit. If that means they have to screw you over, then they won't think twice. Remember the guy "Menace" who produced Desiigner's Panda? When last did we hear from him? Even though he had his 15 minutes of fame from the "Prod. by Menace" title. I'd rather have a sustainable career than one that dies because of impatience. With that said, I definitely see where you're coming from and I'm not disagreeing- we should all take our shots- but business is business and we need to be good businessmen and women.

    • @aidanfine
      @aidanfine 6 лет назад +1

    The producer's job is much MUCH harder than the rapper's. All a rapper has to do is to ask for a beat of "this-this" type. Now the producer does all the stuff. Then the rapper raps, and producer mixes that, does all the work and still does not get paid or recognized. This fucking sucks. And I am a producer aswell, I know it all.

    • @eman0828
      @eman0828 5 лет назад

      A Record Producer's main objective is to see the creation of the finished record all the way through all the way down to the mix. Real Record Producer's enter In legal binding *Producer Agreements* which I find it hard to believe why wouldn't a Producer wouldn't get paid. I have a 14 page Producer Agreement with a Record Company myself that states the Producer's Advances that recoupable against Points on an Album. The Points comes out of the Artist record royalties from thier 360 / Recording Agreement. The contract also states the Recording Budgets as the Producer is acutally paying themselves out of the Recording Budget as an *All-in* deal. The Record Company sends 50% of the funds to the Producer on commencement of the Recording Sessions and the other 50% upon completion of the Master Recording turned in to the A&R. The Producer has to pay every one else involved in the creation of the record as they have to Make Union Scale payments to session Musicans that are part of the Union, pay the Recording Engineer etc. All of that comes out of the Recording budget.

    Payment should be discussed and defined at least twice, during inquiry to have a foundation both parties can agree on and after the song is made (before release) to re-evaluate the effort both parties put into the project/track. Makes it more communicative for everyone.

    Don’t sign with a label, rappers or producers, they offer you a hefty advance up front but you don’t pay attention to the implications of who’s making the profits from your song becoming popular. In this day and age with social media and the ability for anybody to produce professional sounding music without needing to spend a fortune on equipment, the former need of labels to promote and finance your music making isn’t needed. I don’t need to mention all the independent artists who became popular through the internet.

    Honestly, why do record labels not pay the person that's responsible for 70% of why people like these artists? (For some artists 100%, trap is honestly just for the beats most of the time)

    • @skinnygiant9152
      @skinnygiant9152 6 лет назад

      Yes, there is no artist in general that could make it without the correct production, but the production isn't the only thing that makes the song. Rap is a vocal genre, meaning what the artist is saying and how they say it matters, and when you spew mumbling nonsense in a genre built upon lyricism, then you might as well have left the beat as an instrumental.

    • @skinnygiant9152
      @skinnygiant9152 6 лет назад

      If you really want to make it as a producer you still have to produce a popular rapper or be a good rapper yourself, and I know that from personal experience and observation. It may be easy to sell a beat online but if you want to be Metro Boomin you have to have somebody like Future to rap on your track, or you have to be like Kanye and make your beats noticed through making songs.

    • @eman0828

      You mean 50% of Writing and Composing the song? Beat Making is Songwriting. Producing is directing and overseeing the overall production and recording all the way down to the mix process. Two entirely different things. Timbaland, Scott Storch, Dre, and Pharrell Williams are tradtional Record Producer's that Co-Writes the music as they are wearing two hats as a Producer and a Songwriter. That's why they get Songwriting and Production credits for both roles as they don't just sit on their asses all day and just make beats. A real Producer works and colobrates with the Artist in the studio calling the shots. P-Diddy is also a Producer and he doesn't make beats as you see him all the time in the studio while the artist is in the vocal booth and Diddy sitting behind the mixing board talking through a Talk back monitor calling the shots telling the artist to rap or sing a certian way. Thats a Producer! That's the difference between a Beat Maker and a Producer.
      *PRODUCER=DIRECTOR*
      *SONGWRITER=BEAT MAKER/LYRICIST*

    An advance is not a loan and doesn't have to be paid back. It indeed is recoupable, which means you only will get royalties from the point on when the label has made the money they paid you *in advance* back through sales; but in a situation were sales, streams etc. are not enough to recoup the money you already got paid, you do NOT have to pay it back like it would be with a loan.

    These steps are useless for 99.9% of the people who will watch this...as most of this goes out the window, when the opportunity presents itself. Basically..."don't do it" is the answer if you're trying to do it right on a labels dime, they will find someone else who does it nearly for free. It's the state of the system...not general lack of business savvy

    These producers should reach out to the AFM for help. Many producers are protected under the AFM SRLA but unfortunately they don't know that. It's like an industry secret.

    • @eman0828
      @eman0828 5 лет назад

      Beat Makers Don't classify as real *Record Producers*. Beat Making falls under the SongwritIng umbrella as the Composer as beat Making alone doesn't make you a Producer. Two entirely different roles. Unlike Rodney Jerkins, Pharrell Williams or Timbaland, those guys are real Record Producer's like Quincy Jones as they are basically a Hybrid type of Record Producer that's wearing two hats as the Composer that makes the beat and Traditional Record Producer role when they are in the studio collaborating with the Vocalist and Engineer that sees the whole thing or the finished record from A to Z. Record Producer's generally make union scale payments when they hire session Musicans and Arrangers that comes out of the Recording Budget funds.

    • @erickcruz194
      @erickcruz194 5 лет назад

      @@eman0828 Yeah but they also fall under the AFM umbrella and can get help there. I've gotten 1K - 20K plus for beat makers justing using the AFM.

    • @eman0828
      @eman0828 5 лет назад

      @@erickcruz194 The problem is these so called "beat maker" producers are signing to an odd type of deal with a label that are signed like an Artist label roaster as exclusively as *In-house* which is quite strange as the Label takes a cut. They can only make and sell beats only exclusively in-house to the label rosters. They call them Production Deals but not sure why they call it a Production deal. Thats why beat makers are getting screwed by the labels. But really a Production Deal is when a *Record Producer* signs an Artist into a demo deal with a Production Company. The Producer's job is to shop is to develop the artist and shop their demos to a Record Company to secure a Recording Agreement or distribution deal for an Artist and the Producer gets a commison and Record points. Real Producer's don't get signed labels. They are hired by Signed Artists via *Producer Agreement* as most of them are freelancers while some run their own, studios, Label imprints such as Timothy Mosley Group by Timbaland, Production Companies such as RedZone Entertianment by Tricky Stewart or Labels such as Beluga Heights by J.R Rotem.

    • @eman0828
      @eman0828 5 лет назад

      It's because these aren't Producer's, they are just a bunch of track makers. A real Producer works in a recording studio producing entire records that collaborates with the Artist and Engineer. They oversee the whole thing all the way down to the mix stage and the label pays them their advances plus "Point's" a percentage of Artist record royalties.

    Producers... your BRAND and your leverage are the only insurance you have in this game... don't expect your bread and butter to be streaming money... build you brand independently of any rapper and use any momentum or attention as leverage to monetize in "non-stream" ways... ie: DJ'ing, ghost producing, mixing/ mastering, sponsorships, etc

    When you guys say "take a smaller advance" I disagree because I've learned that as an artist/producer you want to take as much money as you can, especially in advance. Even though you have to reimburse that through record sales, you would be getting more up front rather than waiting each quarter for a royalty check which is going to come either way. Especially if you are signed under a 360 deal, you definitely want to take a bigger advance.

    Man, I agree producers should get paid, but some of these producers want 10K to make some little basic ass best on FL Studio. Especially a lot of these trap beats that sound the same. Producers back in the day like Timbaland, Swizz Beats, even Stevie J we’re musicians. A lot of these new producers just gave time on their hands.
