i have been STRUGGLING with laminating my stickers at home and this helped so much, thank you!! i've been waffling on a laminator but this sells it for me. thanks again for the tutorial!!
Oh my god……. I’ve been using my laminator for 6 yrs now. Never touched the cold setting. Always thought what the cold setting was for but never bothered to look it up. Struggled with perfect hand laminating each time while making holographic stickers and wasted so many sticker sheets! SO GLAD I STUMBLED UPON THIS VIDEO. My mind is blown. Thank you!!!
Just found your channel and loving all the Artist Alley vlogs! Then came across the Spooky Spirits stuff and wow! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experiences! What is the matte laminate that you like to use? The ones I see out there are usually textured or kinda not clear, sorta foggy.
This is super helpful! Thank you. In order to avoid the curling I bought a laminator that has a cold setting. It was like $20 on amazon and it’s been amazing! 💖
Super epic! 👻 I don't make enough sticker to justify buying that huge roll but something I am struggling with it getting sheets from Amazon that don't like.. Desaturate my stickers! It's like the glue they use for the sheets isn't perfectly clear so it kinda grays my stickers...
this is incredibly helpful because i'm using spick global holo film as well and wanted to try a different manu this time around so thanks for this video! a couple of questions if you don't mind? 1. before spick global, i purchased a roll like yourself from a different manu. it was probably very similar thickness-wise since it was really hard to work with. i could get past that, but unfortunately it's unusable because the laminate doesn't stick well; if i thumb the edges of my stickers, the holo film curls up even if i run them through a laminator. super frustrating because now i have this huge roll sitting in my office. anyway -- do you have the same problem with this laminate? not sure if it's a correlation between the thickness of the laminate, or i picked a bad manu. i'm afraid to try another thin film in case i run into the same problem 2. would you say this holo film is clear? i haven't experienced yellowing in the laminate i purchased from spick global, but i feel like the clearness is not consistent between patterns and some of them even muddy up my colors, especially darker ones. not sure if this is again related to the thickness or just the manufacturer thanks so much again!!
is it ok to use hot lamination for the stickers? or will it damage them or make the prints bleed on the edges? i use the Avery lamination clear sheets, and bought a lamination machine that goes hot withing two mins, kinda scared to use it on my stickers so i wanted to make sure.
I can’t speak for all forms of lamination or sticker sheet paper, but I’ve never had any trouble with bleeding of the prints! A test run is probably the best idea for your materials!
Does the laminate you are using have a strong smell? I've bought a few holo laminates from China via Amazon and the smell is so strong is gives me a headache! I'm hoping there is a brand that doesn't have a strong smell. Thanks!!
The only time I really notice a smell with this laminate (and I have a very sensitive nose) is when I'm cutting it from the roll! It has a strong plastic smell, but I don't smell it after it's been cut or when it's being laminated!
Hi! The laminate has never peeled off in my experience, even without running it through the hot laminator. I haven't tested it, but I imagine if you applied it to a vinyl or other weatherproof material, it would be waterproof! But if applying it to a regular paper sticker material, the back of the sticker and edges can still absorb water.
@@LeSpiritDesigns thanks for your reply! I found normal rotary cutters, I just thought the one you had without having to use a cutting mat was really handy. I found something similar called "snitty cutter" although it doesn't rotate but I guess it will do :)
You're welcome!! I usually will make a post on Facebook in a group called Artist Alley Network International, and sell the lot of scraps first come, first serve whenever I periodically destash them!
@@LeSpiritDesigns yes, a photo for more than 1 second to see if the effect looks good. i think it looks interesting, nothing more. i added the sheets to my stickers and i didnt like them a lot, but is a good start

I hope it helps! This method still isn’t fool proof for me and I do still have a high margin for error, but it’s still easier than doing it by hand!

I hope this hack helped!! Honestly my laminator doesn't have a cold setting, but I really should get one with a cold setting!
omg. My mind is blown... I have been cutting huge rolls of laminate with scissors for YEARS. Ran to Amazon for that rotary cutter hahaha
You're welcome!! It was such a game changer honestly, I hope it's worked out well for you!
Thank you this helped me a lot xx
I’m glad to hear it!

I’m so glad it was helpful! And apologies, but I do not share the brand of laminations I’m using now

No problem! And OH thank you for that tip! I'll check it out!!
This was really helpful, thanks for sharing :). The stickers were so pretty, too!
Thank you!!
I want to try this! I’ve tried so many laminating foils that need the hot setting that have never worked so I should try the cold lamination.
Best of luck to you! The cold lamination is great, and if applying it with a laminator is too hard, you can still just apply it by hand!
👻 super helpful tutorial!! Appreciate you taking the time to make this~

It’s hard to find holo lamination that works well! I recommend checking on Alibaba, most of the suppliers sell them by sheet instead of by roll!
Amazing, informative video! Thank you so much! :D

Is cold holo film safe to put through a hot laminator? And if you were to laminate, would you put the holo on top of the laminate pouch or inside?
I haven’t had any bad side effects from putting the cold film through a hot laminator! And I don’t use the pouch either.
most comments are mind blown people before they tried it out themselves. Anybody tried out this laminating technique?
is it ok to use hot lamination for the stickers? or will it damage them or make the prints bleed on the edges?

Seems like that Brand of rotary cutter us not available in my country. Does anyone know what that type of rotary cutter is called? 👻
If you still haven’t had any luck, try searching for fabric rotary cutters?
