Ngl I was kinda disappointed the big bad Burning Legion is still the big bad Burning Legion, only with a void reskin The main point of this series felt like it was turning the good guys into the bad guys and bad guys into good guys, without that it kinda loses some of its appeal
I find it weird that Kel'Thuzad asks Archimonde for the location of the tome even though he was a powerful mage in Dalaran before he went on to form the Cult of The Damned. I'm guessing the lore wasn't developed that far back then lol
Originally the Kirin Tor were some characters that appeared in books. At one point they changed their mind and made people like KT a Kirin Tor wizard, since he was a known character, even though his interactions with Jaina make it clear he wasn't known to her
Retcon, as Kel'Thuzad at first wasn't a member of the Kirin Tor back when Warcraft 3 was launched. Lorewise, it could be argued that Antonidas was keeping the location of the Book a secret from Kel'Thuzad as he didn't trust him. Kel'Thuzad was curious about all types of magic, and he probably would try to learn from the book.
I think its really just over exposure from fans and WoW like every fucking little detail needs to be known about including Archimonde's favourite brand of soap or why he secrely hated Kil'Jaeden and I think ultimately its an effort to destroy the imagination of the fans by making sure they arent allowed to explore their own ideas. I mean maybe it would be better off if Kel'Thuzad was like some random guy who discovered a book on necromancy left behind by the orc deathknights and became obsessed with the idea and founding his own little cult that got the attention of the Lich King.

Warcraft 3 Alternate: I can see now how WC3 Alternates work in lore: Orc -> The humans came from another planet (in this case Earth), so I can imagine that it is something like SC1, that they mastered some technology that helped them travel between time and space, but the techonology how it worked is now lost to time about, after lots of wars. Or they used their technology to travel out among the stars. Human -> The undead. Once they came to Alternate Azorath they learn about magic and then the people have learned to be something between life and death, but still try to be kind as well even if they are dead and then there can be a lot of ethical questions about what which is living and non-living, what is a life and not a life (to give birth or to be among the old). Especially if Earth was a planet among the living and the undead people were something like the inhuman and evil. and it might be more interesting if The humans were the bad guys and the undead were just the ones trying to do their own living undead shit. Like the humans blame the undead for being somewhat inhuman but they can still live as if it were underground or an underworld. Nightelf -> Orcs and trolls. It says in lore that all life on azoroth evolved from yes, forest animals or at least animals in general, so you can just as easily use the same explanation for orcs and trolls (ogres) as night elves, just maybe more towards the rocky and mountain side than that tree and forest? This "perfect" trio world, between The human, undead and Orcs was untouched until the more twisted forms of nightelf, or in this case shadow elf/demons, came to Azoroth with dears the warden lord and Burning legonon, and wanted to destroy and /or change EVERYTHING into his own, well, shadow nightmare image. The nation of Alterac, lead by Durotan Perenolde rejected this blessing and instead allied themselves with the High Elves that came to their world through a portal, thus forming the High Elf and Human Alliance. The High Elf Ner'zhul was caught by Kil'Jaeden and turned into the Warden Lord. The other Shadowmoon High Elves became the first Night Elves. Night Elves are the only immortal race, and they want to cleanse the world of the other mortal races. You are right about the orcs and trolls. The tauren are also there with them.
So wait. The Burning Legion created the Lich King, which in turn created Arthas? Just like how the Xel Naga created the Overmind, who created Kerrigan. And now, in this campaign, the burning Legion are (Xel) Nagas. Amusing.

It feels strange that the Alliance in this alternate timeline act a lot more like real life humans with the Orcs' warrior culture ethos than the ones in canon Warcraft/WoW.
Had you see those doujins where a guy(Usually the bigger one) becomes a girl, making his friend doubt about his sexuality? Well, this feels like that. Also i expected for them to bring Sylvanas here.
the chapter is titled Stromgarde Duty, and you're fighting the humans and elves of Stromgarde so yes, it is supposed to be that, which is an obvious reference

Simplest way to explain Warcraft III Alternate: The main 4 races are swapped in a circle, the other races are switched to create a consistent world. Characters have the same name and fate, but their race and class are changed
