    Wanted to let u know Marley is 5.2 lbs. He is such a joy to watch and love. He is running and playing more but still plenty of naps. I bought him a container for his toys with low front so he is able to pick and choose what he wants to play with at any given time. We were learning to walk on a leash but that has been put on hold due to the extreme heat. I can’t thank u enough for the honor of allowing us the opportunity to raise this precious little one.

      Thank you so much for the update on Marley! He is soooo cute and has such a great temperament like his parents. Which toys are his favorites? You are most welcome and I am thrilled to see your comment today 😍❤️

    We used to allow tail docking in the UK. We had 2 cockers, one pre law change, and one post. It was hard at first to adapt to the visual change.
    Either way, seeing your dog's tail wag is vital to me. It is a communication tool.
    Your puppies are extremely well cared for and I appreciate your educational and fun videos

    I loved how Burberry was being so kissy in the beginning of the video. Poppi is like that. I never thought about the size of the tail. You are right, the longer docked tail is better. That was great advise when you are holding the dog and they growl at someone. Poppi does that when I am holding her. Now I know what I should do. Say NO then turn her around backwards. How long should I keep her like that before turning her back around? If she is quiet when I turn her forward do I praise her and say "yes quiet"?

    • @svccschnauzers
      @svccschnauzers  3 месяца назад +4

      Thank you Organic Gal! Yes, when Poppi is settled and relaxed then turn her back around and say "Yes! Quiet!" I look forward to seeing you again sometime soon 😍❤️

    Great information about tails and why they are docked- thank you, Shawn- Ginger has such a short tai It’s sometimes very difficult to see when it’s wagging.

      @svccschnauzers  3 месяца назад +1

      Yes, different breeders do the tail docking in different ways and lengths - there isn't a "standard" and there couldn't be because we don't know the puppy's growth pattern when we are docking the tails at 2 - 3 days old. I use my own pointer finger as the guide for all puppies and pray I've gotten it right ❤️😍 Thank you Arlene 😘

    Very much preferable to me to read a dog’s emotions by reading their tail movement. I think that is important for my relationship/communication between the dog and myself. Plus it’s just so darn cute. Do appreciate the clear explanation of the reason for docking and how you handle it in your breeding program. I think the way you are “sizing” it is perfect.
    Sugar is a little doll and I sure enjoyed her tail wagging during her training. I am thrilled for her adopters.
    I had two Persian cats with two Maltese. The cats/dogs were not ever “best friends” but seemed to naturally separate from each other. They all had chill personalities and that helped.😊
    Thank-you Shawn.❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️

      Thank you Carole, nice to see you here today 😊 Jim is very allergic to cats otherwise I would have one as part of my Puppy Prep School experience. Thank you for sharing about your dogs and cats - this helps to set expectations that they may not be best friends but they can enjoy being in their home together. My friend Kim (the one who has 5 of my dogs) also has 2 cats. Her cats love being in the room with the dogs and will cuddle if everything is right - meaning everyone is being relaxed. But if one of the dogs gets the zoomies the cats leave the room immediately.

    I love to watch a dog's tail docked.
    Your dogs are beautiful, & I always enjoy your videos. Thank you so much for sharing them with us. The chocolates are especially gorgeous!!
    I could never mutilate a dog simply because that's how it has been done for generations. Some breeders are deciding it"s time to change & leave the tails intact. They want to show potential clients that natural is beautiful. I hope that someday tail & ear docking become illegal in the US like it is elsewhere.

      Thank you for your comment! I am planning soon to have a schnauzer puppy that will have a long tail to show the difference.
      Yes, I understand your perspective. I often think of it like the preferences people have about tattoos and piercings - some people enjoy that and other don't. Thank you also for enjoying my videos.

    Great information about tails, and I like how you do it. Out of the three schnauzers through my life so far, all three had tails like Dazzle, and their ears, two were cropped and the other wasn't cropped and most of the time one ear was up and the other was down. Eve had great questions, and I am taking notes so that I am successful with all of the advice you give on your videos, and now the Go Groomer for trimming. Don't worry I have questions for you as well!

    One of my show breeder friends indicated that the correct length of tail dock is right where the color ends on their tail if they are black/silver, salt/pepper (or liver/tan or liver/pepper) for example. The docked tail should be fully showing the white underneath and not have any of the black or grey showing. Then you need to apply that same length of docking to solid colored schnauzer pups and parti pups. The length should be the same for all colors and sizes. Just info for you to consider!

    • @svccschnauzers
      @svccschnauzers  2 месяца назад +1

      Yes! I agree and that is what we do when a puppy has the color difference in their tail. When one puppy in the litter has that then it is easier to do the same with all the other puppies in the litter. When the puppies are all recessive red or solid black I use my pointer finger as the depth of it seems to create the right length too. Occasionally a puppy may grow up to have a longer or shorter tail as well and I know you don't dock tails at all in Canada. Thank you for your comment.

    My dog (Chloe) will growl at people when I am holding her. She's 6 pounds and 11 years old. She didn't have this issue until my daughter ( her mom) moved out and her older dog brother (Max) passed away. So she's stuck with grandma and lost both her best friends. She is obviously either scared or trying to protect me. The tip about turning the Chloe around when approaching people or just talking to neighbors should help her ❣️. I am so excited to try this tip with her because she is the sweetest girl and everyone is surprised with how spicy she is.

    Collar versus harness tips. Yes the collar provides more direct queuing to the dog. However a collar will pull off over a dog’s head as it’s never tight enough should never be tight enough that it doesn’t. Once I watched a dog at the fireworks celebration pull free and run off into the dark with the owners in pursuit. They were not able to catch their dog. And this was after I politely warned them that their dog would pull out and runoff. I even showed them how to use the leash as a make do harness which they chose to ignore. On another occasion, my own little terrier was attacked and pulled out of the collar and leash and into the street. I never saw the dog coming from behind. Therefore, when I’m in public, my little dog has a collar and a harness with the leash securely attached.. I can actually pluck my dog off the ground into my arms if I need to. I never trust other dogs. And my little guy is accustomed to sounds of loud noises and would never run off, but he would also be securely in my arms or at my feet.

      Aw, you have just made my day! Thank you! I am grateful that you are watching and learning along with me ❤️. Yes, I do have due claws removed by my vet at the same time that tails are docked. Again it is very quick and it does save the dog from having a due claw accidentally yanked off later in life when it would be very dangerous and painful for the dog. Where do you live? Are you any where near Bethlehem PA?

    I have another question. 🙋‍♀️. Chloe doesn't like my dad. All dogs love my father. It really bothers me. Sometimes Chloe will be okay until he stands up. We have tried all the introduction techniques. He's tall but my husband is several inches taller and a much bigger man. She doesn't act that way towards my father in law, who is about the same size and he doesn't like dogs. So my dad wants to be nice to her and my father in law doesn't really want to interact with her. Do you have any suggestions on how I could address her behavior? I really don't see my father or father in law very often because we don't live very close. But I don't understand what is going on ???

      Ears are cropped if you are going to show a dog and try to take them to champion in AKC shows.
      You can show an unaltered dog their 1st year.

      I understand. Where i lived and had gotten my pup, I couldn't find a vet that would crop her ears. After she turned 11 weeks, i couldn't do it because I didn't want to cause her pain. I am thinking about showing a pup and she will have the ears clipped. I like the look of both for different reasons.@@JanisAllen-vx6fl
