Awesome. A lot of ignorant comments in this section. This dude is a aural craftsman. Whether you enjoy their music or not, there is artistry in tone, which is as important as the song in 2023 and beyond. We are evolving, and soundwriting is a thing.
I love to see someone like me continue to try out new pedals all the time. I try to keep my board as small as possible but there is just to many good pedals out there!
Adam is a super down-to-earth person. This rig is kinda ridiculous, but I take it as a sign that he’s obsessed with, and lost in, what he does. It seems like he could probably simplify this and get near-identical results. But why? The lesson is not that home musicians should have a board like this. But it’s fun to see what happens if you just get totally lost in the dream of pedals and sound and gear.
Caught them at Summerfest in Milwaukee. They blew me away! Sounded better live then the recordings. I have already got my tickets for the tour with The National. Can't wait!
The great thing about this rig is that he can just pick his stuff and be on his way within a minute or two. And it doesn't require much time on stage for setting up and soundcheck. And lastly, this is not something you could all do easily with a laptop and an interface nowadays.
According to a forum on the Bun Runner: "It’s Tonebender (I don’t remember which version) on one side and a clone of the Devi Ever Hyperion on the other."
I think we finally found the guy who can give Thomas Mcrocklin a run for his money for most outrageous and biggest paddleboard, that being said, I wouldn’t know what to do with half of that. I have my fender amp set up with five or six Boss pedals, but you can never have too many Boss pedals 🤘🏻🎸🎶
I've seen this band live and they sounded amazing. I think some people get a little carried away with pedals though. I'd hate to be the one to set that up and trouble shoot it.
I have got to go and listen to them now. Anyone who needs a rainbow of tools to inspire them must create some magical sounds! Talks like a real artist, my expectations are high!
Oh man, listen to disappearing (awesome) and under the pressure (amazing song and the outro is nuts) Basically, you cant go wrong with Lost in the dream (the album)
Sadly I'm just an amateur player but I dream big too . 😂... awesome workstation man..got the works covered in thinking..if I used all of my effects to build a single board it'd be 3 times this size.. however even though I could I don't..I usually stack up a5-8 pedal set-up and tweak and play..lotta fun man
There are two mics next to his mic stand. One is pointed at the audience, that could be an ambience mic. But the other one is pointed at the stage, I wonder, what that one is doing.
Please try to geht the Arctic Monkeys doing a video like this. :) Would be so interesting cause their rarely asked about what gear their use. It’s sure a lot simpler than this haha
Here I sit trying to minimize my rig so that it might fit on a Boss BCB-1000 and a small board for vocals bc I dont want to carry all of that dead weight around and then I see this🤣🤣🤣🤣
It might be hard because they're a band that does a lot of extended jams and night-to-night changes. They're not really a band where "the show" can be pre-programed in.
@@Tim85-y2q that defiantly makes sense. I just brought that up because there are some big touring guitarist that don't want any pedals on stage and have their tech do the switching off stage. what may seem complicated to me might be easy for somebody else. maybe that pedal rig is easy for him to operate while performing and singing 😄
@@Joshua_Ott That's usually the better way to go if they're playing the same show every night and everything has to be perfectly synched to other elements of a massive production. That's why you see that on a lot of big tours. If you've ever seen Drugs play live, Adam spends a lot of time fiddling with his pedals to create a soundscape. They're a bit jam-bandy in that respect.
Poor guy can only afford a few pedals? Comparison is the thief of joy why be such a wanker if you actually listen to the band his pedal board makes a lot of sense
i'm sorry but Adam literally is sounding like an extremely rich hipster dood with far too much gear....i get that they've actually musicalized all these pedals in some way, they all serve something musically, but this guy literally has like 8 flangers and 5 boost pedals, like what the hell hahahah i love WOD though
This rundown makes my brain hurt. I can also say that I barely hear anything unique this rig brings to the table, other than a journey in....toy collecting. Not my jam I guess.

I love his minimalist attitude
I love Adam and the War on Drugs but I’m glad he’s better at songwriting than he is at pedalboard tours.
He did finish a few sentences lol.
His minimalist approach is a refreshing vicissitude from todays excessive pedal boards.
Pretty small board
It’s a good starter board.
Tiny
Long cry from Robert Crey
🤣
Only one level
The guy that made that pedalboard surely lost his war on drugs.
Definitely the most awkward pauses I've seen at premier guitar rig run down video 🤣🤣🤣
With a setup like this, dude has to be a mad genius. Can't have max skill points in each perk lol
Anyone who doesn’t know their stuff, if your into indie rock I recommend them 11/10, they write some really incredible songs
They really are an incredible band but this video is kind of embarrassing.
I’m also a big advocate of a minimalist approach
How original
Adam beat the war on drugs, but lost to the crusade of pedals.
Living colour
this conversation has a real "flow" to it
Uncle Larry is the King of Flow 🙏❤️🎸

@user-zv7lm8uk7h 🤣
All the people hating are poor losers who can't afford a huge chad pedalboard
I love to see someone like me continue to try out new pedals all the time. I try to keep my board as small as possible but there is just to many good pedals out there!
This is awesome! Love the MPC set up and volume pedals for drum machines, INSPIRED!

This band speaks to my soul. Love this guitarist and vocalist. Saw them at Sacred Rose and it was AMAZING
Under the pressure is my favorite.
Caught them at Summerfest in Milwaukee. They blew me away! Sounded better live then the recordings. I have already got my tickets for the tour with The National. Can't wait!
I like their music! I’m not going to knock his setup until I get to hear it live and decide for myself if it makes a difference.

Wonder how many Buffers the Pedal Doctor from Vertex would recommend ?
5:30 ~: The right side of the Bun Runner is a Tonebender. Left side is an Astro Mess.
This dude hasn’t gotten rid of any pedals, you can tell cause he brings them all

Mcrocklin aint got squat on the guy from consider the source
Vernon Reid is up there
"Yeah it's all samples at this point I just wear a guitar to look busy."
How do you keep all of this organized in your head and perform? O_o
where’s the ryan adams video??
Man, just when I thought I had too many pedals on my board (ten)...
Parody is impossible these days - they do it themselves.
So many jealous insecure guitarists on the comments!
This band is tight, but this board is OVERKILL.
Think the Fuzz they were thinking of was a Big Muff !
This makes me want to stick with acoustic guitar.
I would never go to war sober
This makes me feel better about my own pedal buying problem, thanks Adam, love your work.

@@TC-lk2ev thanks for the recommendation! I’ll give it a spin this morning 🫡
Finally. A simple setup 😅
The pedals are playing him at this point
Piloting a jet plane seems so easy now
WOW, this Is the only comments section on RUclips worth of full reading, btw i love the band
TONE BENDER! ❤️
So inspired! So anxious! Lol
Love him but that board is ridiculously insane.
Cool
“Yea, I like that pedal too”
We get it, you like pedals. Now I know why they cost $200, you own all of them.
🤣
Wonder what he'd think of the Helix or a Pod Go 🤣
They should do a shred parody on this one
Sadly I'm just an amateur player but I dream big too . 😂... awesome workstation man..got the works covered in thinking..if I used all of my effects to build a single board it'd be 3 times this size.. however even though I could I don't..I usually stack up a5-8 pedal set-up and tweak and play..lotta fun man
He's a pedal board player!
Pedalboardist perhaps? 😁🤘🎸
@Eric Warrington hahaha Sir I would have to agree. He started out as a rythm pedalboardist, but now he plays lead pedalboard in the band bahahaha
My man got some Iron Rangers on!
“Yea can I get 4 of every pedal you have in stock and at the warehouse?” 😂
There are two mics next to his mic stand. One is pointed at the audience, that could be an ambience mic. But the other one is pointed at the stage, I wonder, what that one is doing.
I'd assume they use it to feed some stage ambience into their in-ear-monitors mix.
Thanks to Boss, EHX, JHS, etc, without whom, lots of this would be coherent.
He bought the whole store
G.A.S. intensifies
No one plays a pedal board that big live when they have to set it up themselves! Haha
Tapdancer Grand Cru
I have a Boss ME-50 guitar multi effect pedal. 😂
Please try to geht the Arctic Monkeys doing a video like this. :) Would be so interesting cause their rarely asked about what gear their use. It’s sure a lot simpler than this haha
Sometimes more is just…more
Hes not a natural talker is he??
Here I sit trying to minimize my rig so that it might fit on a Boss BCB-1000 and a small board for vocals bc I dont want to carry all of that dead weight around and then I see this🤣🤣🤣🤣
I would get so confused with his pedal board.. I could even play guitar
👌
Board looks about right for their band
Yeah, this doesn't feel like an SNL sketch at all.
That's almost as big as Brandi Love Got a headache from this Dude ?
He sounds like the lead singer of Cake
Drugs won the war on pedals.
that pedalboard must make playing guitar just a miserable experience
This dude's got more pedals than me. And you.
Glad he don't play Shoegaze
..I can't.
Man that pedalboard is annoying to look at. "God Bless Him!"
he could probably benefit from an off stage guitar tech running his pedals/ drum machines rig :}

@@Tim85-y2q true its probably easier to create a soundscape with the pedals on stage than tucked away in a rack. to each their own.😄
And I thought I was into pedals...
Now *this* is how you compensate
he's an awesome guitar player
This guy makes everything in studio by himself. The definition of a jack of all trades, which lends itself to compositional mastery
Poor guy can only afford a few pedals? Comparison is the thief of joy why be such a wanker if you actually listen to the band his pedal board makes a lot of sense
So this is just like a pretty basic game pedalboard.
i'm sorry but Adam literally is sounding like an extremely rich hipster dood with far too much gear....i get that they've actually musicalized all these pedals in some way, they all serve something musically, but this guy literally has like 8 flangers and 5 boost pedals, like what the hell hahahah i love WOD though
DON'T these people KNOW the 'war' on drugs was LOST? Decades ago?
Powered by your local nuclear power plant
Dude just dwarfed Mike Einzigers pedalboard
I can't stand the muffled mic. It's like under his guitar strap or something.
F#ck that. Gimme a OD, Verb/Delay and a marshall
I’ve never seen so many insecure guitar players in one comment section
This rundown makes my brain hurt. I can also say that I barely hear anything unique this rig brings to the table, other than a journey in....toy collecting. Not my jam I guess.
Edge must be so jealous ..:)
Amateurs walk all over their guitar cable
All this to sound like Bruce Hornsby demos
Awkward, almost painful.
Ummmmmmmm.......ummmmmmmmm! 🤣 I have alot of pedals......ummmmmmm....ummmmmmmm!? 🤣😉
This guy is slow, must be sooo high
Most top artists are not particularly articulate, not able to convey their expertise well verbally. Their brain works differently
