This is sad let me tell you something having had 30 years experience of living and working in the Far East you are being taken for a ride unless you are replenishing your income on a regular basis you are going to end up in a catastrophic state financially but that's nothing to the state you will end up in mentally' I've watched a few of your vids and you seem a well intentioned young man but listen to all these people and myself as a man who's considerably older than you and maybe with more experience of life in Thailand THIS IS A SCAM I'm sorry to sound so negative but honestly I've seen this thousands of times before so just be very careful and as I said if you're going to live in Thailand make sure you have a permanent income, never tell the Thais what that income is and realise you will never become integrated into Thai society regardless of how long you've lived there or indeed your linguistic skills I am with my Thai lady now for ten years and still I have to treat every intention with a certain degree of healthy skepticism and remember you can say no to their demands good luck with the rest of your journey and I hope things work out for you but just stay aware.
If your heads screwed on correctly it should work out OK for you. I was literally in your same shoes 7 years ago. Be wary of the extended family. If you set the standard from day one they'll soon stop attempting to free load off you. I love it when we visit the village now the aunts and uncles barely come see us anymore haha as the falang don't buy all the food and beer anymore. Don't worry about all the idiots on here with their stupid comments. You've got the balls to post this video. I was 24 and my Mrs 19 when we married 6 years later we've got 2 kids and she has a British passport. The family don't mug me off for money at all. Don't know your situation or your knowledge of Thailand but tread carefully and you'll be fine. The experience is amazing. I love the village life its totally alien to us westerners hence all the comments on your video. The family are excited to see you and the potential prospect of their daughter marrying a foreigner. Money is obviously on their mind as you provide financial security for them ALL. You will learn that family is important and you'll be expected to support them financially I guarantee it which isn't a bad thing as there is no welfare system or pensions. So you being with their daughter stops her working regardless of her type of employment she is unable to send her family money so you must now fulfil the role of sending money. Anyway best of luck....

Another great video...I really enjoy seeing the village life....I think it was the first time your whole body was on camera....Who was the camera person?....
@Dan Thailand If you have lived and travelled in Thailand for 5 years, then you would know its part of their culture - a culture of "Patronage". They do the same to their Thai boyfriend/husband, as they do, with the foreign boyfriend/husband. The difference is what they can get from their foreign partner versus a Thai partner. The Thai partner understands the culture (Thailand's patronage culture) and limit such gifts, but the farang from overseasn does not, so he is often taken advantage of, by unscrupulous family members. I would agree it happens more in poorer families in the countryside, but this is Not a widespread problem in Bkk, as most family members have well paying jobs or businesses.
House is certainly different from typical western style, but it looks like a good sturdy structure, appropriate for the region, and appears more spacious than my house (grins). They are more communal too, which is something we are quickly loosing, so good on their culture for that.

Your video was outstanding!! The house and the family and the extended family, hmm a little to rough for me. Good luck in whatever you do, your a good man!!
you can learn A LOT about a girl by her parents and siblings in the village, and some degree her village friends. sometime we listen, sometimes we don't...
Great video!.. it is good to see a Thai family gathering, it's amazing how many friends and family show up!.. 😂🤣 I purchased a condo in Phuket for my retirement, I'm staying single and avoiding this for now but my time will come!😎🙏
@HeyWould Ja’Blowme MGTOW Yea he is as with most foreigners that get involved with these types of Thai women. RUN! But he will never listen. If you are unwilling to learn Thai DO NOT get involved with Thai women.
That's REAL Thai style living. Now....if you want to dive deeper, study Thai language and Buddha's teachings. (seriously).....unless you're planning on living in the U.K. In Isaan, knowing the language and more about Buddhism is best. (It's a wonderful teaching....been studying it for 30+ years!) Wishing you happiness!
it's standard practise to drink it from a glass with ice to keep it cold as it soon warms up once out of the chiller... small cans were no problem as they're finished in 5 minutes
If you are spending like that on the first meeting, they will expect it everytime. That is something you will need to learn quick, cause if next time you spend half the of amount you did this time it will reflect on your standing in the family.
@@GeeCeeWU It depends whether you are in Bkk or the countryside like this occassion. Thailand is a patronage society. Most of the Thais like in this video have low paying jobs, so they see a foreign husband/partner as a step up in the social ladder - ie. to improve their living conditions. This is the traditional view that most Thais have in the countryside - its the same dependency they expect from their King (hence the high regard they have for him), Gov, bosses, boyfriend and husband. Bkk however is a different story: if the family and friends see their "young" daughter dating an older man (not a younger man), the Thais in Bkk will see this as a social climb down, as their friends and family will interpret the Thai lady to be working in the sex industry - rightly or wrongly, they interpret (in Bkk anyway) all foreign tourists going to Thailand for sex.
@@vanwong6768 Thank you for your insight regarding this issue, it's pretty much as I would have expected based on my experience when visiting Thailand and content by RUclips vloggers.
@@GeeCeeWU You should note that its the same with a rich Thai boyfriend/husband. The difference is the Thai guy knows the culture and know what are reasonable gifts and what are beyond reasonable. Foreigners like us don't - especially those who doesn't read and write Thai or understand their culture. So we get taken advantage of more. The best thing is learn the language and the culture, and then do what a normal Thai guy would do, in that situation - of course, you could be a bit more generous than a Thai guy, but its up to you. I was involved with a Military officer's daughter and saw first hand the level of patronage over the family of soldiers who fought and died in the South. Whether we like it or not, they don't have much of a social security system over there, so they rely on their tradtional patronage system.
Dude, respect that you went to the countryside to see her family. A few comments I have though. Firstly, your partner must like you a lot to introduce you, to her family. You can see the pride on her face. Secondly, as many have pointed out, it looks like there are a lot of depedents in her family - note, I am making an assumption here, I could be wrong and they all have wonderful, high paying jobs. Any way, my point is: Thailand is a "Patronage" society, especially out in the countryside - traditionally, the poor farmers expected their King (overlord, bosses) to take care of them and in turn, they earn their respect from the Thai family. It looks like you have been bestowed that honour - not being their King, but their Patron. Thailand don't have good social security system to take care of the family members without jobs or money - they rely on other family members to help out. Any way, that is my humble opinion. btw, great footages of real country living in Thailand.

Enjoyed the vlog, I have to agree with a lot of the comments, be wary of escalating requests for money for sick relatives /vehicle repairs. It may not happen or be reduced depending on the result, but it is a harsh fact of their lives that they have very little and this is seen as a way out. Although I don't think that you are as "green " as some of the posts believe. Enjoy your experiences and follow your gut instinct. My wife is from chaiyaphum, so I have some knowledge of what can happen!!😉😤😲😂.
Appreciate the invite into what seemed like a memorable bash, your very generous but sure the benefits are well worth it. Lodging is not what the western world would feel comfortable in but sure nobody is complaining there. Very resourseful people, especially the elders. Truely eye opening vlog, thank you for sharing this festive family event and daily rituals of this close knit Thai family. Always travel/B safe.
I think youre smart enough to understand what this relationship may be man, but maybe are just hoping this case is different. I just advice slowing the spending and generosity to see what happens. Hate to see fellas loose time and money bud. Unless you are fine with that then enjoy lol

Feels I'm in India. Buddhism is definitely Indian in origin.
My girlfriend lives near sakhon Nakhon and she wants me to live there. I might have to think about that. Its exactly like your girlfriends house and family. Thanks for the reminder..
It looks like "Deliverance" country, I'd stay well clear if I were you.
Beer for Breakfast ??
well done great vlog
Enjoyed the vlog, I have to agree with a lot of the comments, be wary of escalating requests for money for sick relatives /vehicle repairs. It may not happen or be reduced depending on the result, but it is a harsh fact of their lives that they have very little and this is seen as a way out. Although I don't think that you are as "green " as some of the posts believe. Enjoy your experiences and follow your gut instinct. My wife is from chaiyaphum, so I have some knowledge of what can happen!!😉😤😲😂.
8:20 Beautiful girls with my heart and bring beer.. God could not of done better. I wish to be there and party with you all
Appreciate the invite into what seemed like a memorable bash, your very generous but sure the benefits are well worth it. Lodging is not what the western world would feel comfortable in but sure nobody is complaining there. Very resourseful people, especially the elders. Truely eye opening vlog, thank you for sharing this festive family event and daily rituals of this close knit Thai family. Always travel/B safe.
What do they do all day? Hey, any good female prospects?
Freeload and drink free piss all day
I am wondering if you are still married after 3 years. I hope so.
Freeloader central
I would go to Sakhon and stay at the M J Majestic hotel 3 times a year I Married a Thai woman but it ended very sad

I agree, real life in rural Thailand.

nice to see the lady working weaving.
I think youre smart enough to understand what this relationship may be man, but maybe are just hoping this case is different. I just advice slowing the spending and generosity to see what happens. Hate to see fellas loose time and money bud. Unless you are fine with that then enjoy lol
