McCoy Tyner is a freakin' monster!
When we saw this show in bavarian tv we immedieatly bougth tickets for their next concert in Burghausen a week later.. will never forget this - Just feeling
I came here for my hero, Mr Tyner. But Louis Hayes, wow!!!!!!!
Joe Henderson summons the deities at around 48:00. Seriously, this is some of the most scorching tenor work on RUclips.
Aye.
McCoy has now joined Freddie and Joe in Jazz Heaven. I hope to hear them all live one day in the very distant future.
Louis "The Real Thing" Hayes on the drum kit. Pure Mastery....
The power and virtuosity of Tyner was legendary. His compositions are extraordinary as well.
Henderson is a monster on tenor and makes it look so easy!
Some of the true giants in jazz, playing their hearts out...Thank-You.
The creator speaks through his people
What a monster player Freddie was. Well, of course, everyone here is astounding. But Freddie played with such power as to blow the lid off that place.
There is no question that McCoy Tyner is a spectacularly talented jazz pianist, and Louis Hayes gives admirable support on drums....
that is on point ...they ARE the band.
I feel blessed to hear this music, remarkable.
I'm overwhelmed with All of this HIGH ENERGY non-stop, Amazing Quintet 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Freddie Hubbard was the baddest cat on earth, ever!! That solo in Inner Glimpse is beyond off the chain, it's Cosmic.
I take that back. I don't think Freddie was even human cause no mere human could ever play like that....it's like a star exploding. My god he was unique and more than worthy of worship.
@@rozenaxsax5133 Too much showing off! Fats Navarro NEVER would do that; he was an artist!
Well, one of the baddest. Ever hear of Woody Shaw?
@@lesmowhomever174 Listen too Clifford Brown Live in Philadelphia with Billy Root and Ziggy Vines on tenors!!! You will forget Freddie Hubbard!
@rozenaxsax5133 DIZZY REECE : Manhattan Project - Beehive 79 = jazz goes nu -clear (=jazz as aggression therapy, i.e. as frustration control ...).
Pure energy!!
My God they are iconic, legends, history!!!!
They make me immediately I want study to do as better is possible!!
reading these comments can't believe no one is talking about Avery Sharpe he is GOING OFF
Yes he is
Well he is indeed… sharp.
McCoy muzik legacy will still remain! Saw once his live trio in Kuala Lumpur during era 90s.
Got his most collection on my library! Plus all the master great musician.
Regards from Jazz Man, Kuala Lumpur!
Brilliant, we just love it, inch perfect every sound!! 🎶🎷😃
Awesome display of true Jazz and skills by these Legends.
Brilliant! What a lineup-McCoy, Hubbard, Henderson, etc. All masters. Thanks for this wonderful video!
Straight to the HALL OF FAME 💯💥💥💥👊 My Goodness Gracious🙇🏾♂️🎶🎶🎶🎶💪😄
I'd like to thank the editor for clearly showing each man as he solos! (Have I ever written that before?!)
Dug all the tunes by these GIANTS but "Inner Glimpse" was out of this galaxy!!!
A blast to the soul, McCoy is a master banger, he and Hayes have some telepathy going on, Freddie is reaching for the stars, Joe is the bomb always excellent, Avery I'm still trying to find the words! This is why they call jazz the Classical music of America!
Juste incroyable d'énergie !!!! Un concert mémorable !!!
insane group this man had assembled
Excellent Jazz !!!!
Superb it hits the spot !!!!!!!!
Holy fucking shit Avery Sharpe
His last name says it all.
Damn this band was so killing!
Freaking McCoy Tyner.... Holy Jesus!
Amen. I saw this trio live and up close in a small club in Toronto. Unbelievable.
@@TheEleatic Lucky guy!
So sad that we lost him last year, I'm so glad I got to hear him live in 2012 or so (with some of his powers o projection lost, but omg still plenty left)
@@saxoman1 How Many pianists and Players in the 80 s before U tube had even a clew as to what McCoy was playing
His Early Trios in the 60's are prototype of modern bop...mixing Wynton Kelly "funky" w McCoys early exploration outside the changes...Damn I miss him making records...but there s alot alot of great stuff...Love when he plays w Woody Freddie and Joe
What stupid crazy players.
Thanks for sharing!
the right word for THE LAST TRACK...FOOOOOODAAAAA-SE...FUUUUUUUUUUUCK....WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT...?!WOOOOW...
My Kind of Music Always Excellent
superb all the way through
I am in awe!!! Mc coy don't play with no shit....
Tyner was hard on pianos. They needed to be built like a tank to take his playing.
Yeah, he chopped it up for firewood!
Forever getting an education in this vast world!
My god that's some hardcore stuff
yes it is...leaving a lot of guys behind.
God is right, diggin deep, potent stuff, all of them!!
And I love this bass player super Sharpe, ridiculous chops all around
What a pleasure to hear.
Talented guys, really great perfromance!!
Looks like they Put it in Overdrive!!! So very AWESOME!! Thank you
Great music, rip mr McCoy Tyrner
Beautiful!
UNREAL!!!! Mindblowing.....
For all the sax players, take note to when master Joe Henderson reaches to those screaming high notes that his larnx lowers and opens!.......50:10 basically, slows his air stream for the high notes!👊🏾😡
Great creativity with max energy.
Hey, at the end of "Ask Me Now", check out Joe Henderson quoting a lick Sonny Rollins played at the end of "You Do Something To Me" from Sonny's 1962 album "The Bridge"!
A. very. Sharp. bass. solo, Sorry , someone had. to say. it.The. true. force. of. nature and his. all. star. band, what. can. you. say but. Thanks!
Paul Cullen how many periods do you need to use?
Awesome!
Cómo sonaban!!!!!!poderosísima la música que fluía de estos maestros!!!!Freddie en la trompeta gigante, como siempre....
38:19 it's all in the delivery! Freddie is crazy!
Rico Jones yeeeeeee
It seems Tyner and Louis Hayes cant hear each other on stage, because time goes off in Tyners solos. Frequent throughout the show. Usual big stage problems... yet Mccoy has enough of it on Inner Glimpse and proceeds to tear the house down, with Freddie too. Incredible and inspiring playing by all.
Fantastic
ピアノが鳴っている!!音の粒立ちもクリア~で、ヤマシタさんとは、随分異なるな。
amazing!
Freddie's having a descending 4th night. But he's at the top of his form. Like the way he directed the band in the middle of Caravan.
Amazing!!!
Awesome!!!
Mccoy has hammer fingers, he really nailed it
FABULEUX!!!!
Does my heart good to see the Great Joe Henderson have to put the changes of the floor for the last tune, then solo 1st and kill it. Yeah, that's tha Stuff !!!
Legends of Jazz
Joe is smokin' on this, should have used him more that night!
Wow. This is dynamite. Thx
Excelente!!!
The way Freddie comes back in at 54:00, sheesh.
im pretty sure the dislikes didnt even gave it a proper listening...
i know the world is full of dickheads...but give us a break...34 more...ffs...lol...
this is absolutely brilliant...another dream team...
saw mc tyner couple years ago or so...he could barely walk and talk but there was no issues regarding his fingers...lol...thanks...
the 3rd tune is "Ask Me Now" by Thelonious Monk and not "As me Now" !
thank you
Alembics have always had that sounds then? I thought it was Stan Clarke playing for a moment!
正是我所要!
I remember seeing Al Jarreau at the Troubadour when intermission allowed us to move around when someone brushed past me blurting out 'you make more than me' with a wry smile.
After a brief moment, I realized it was Freddie .
Freddie Hubbard, my stars!!
Fucking amazing!
I'm like number 1000. Far too few for the blistering talent giving lessons onstage.
verry beutifool
Awesome
Caravan is just from another planet
Immortals!
7:07 Unapologetic emulation of Stanley. Like it!
Poder máximo absoluto
Watch at 37:08 MT's expression. It looks like he'd been looking to FH to signal he's done but no one was ready, so he kept having to do another phrase then look up again. Finally got FH's attention.
今日は テナー ドラム ペット最高です(●^o^●)
Love!
54:27 Freddie played the lick!
whats "the lick" from...sounds just like all the other lines freddie plays all the time.
+progjazzfusion just youtube "the lick". I guess its just because it was played often back then.
i disagree. freddie has several licks he does often, as do most jazz players. just because some guy on YT pointed out one doesnt make it "the lick" as there are many.
+progjazzfusion I just thought it was funny because I saw that video.
ok I checked out that lick video, and of all the jazz I have listened to the last several decades, I have never consciously noticed anyone use it, even if they did, as its one of the most bland corny boring devices I have ever heard...I hate that lick, and if anyone still plays it, they need to stop now...only the original era guys are allowed to. why anyone picked that out to copy is beyond me as it aint that great, its more like filler between actual creative playing. That being said, the thing about bebop and bebop licks, is it all starts to sound the same pretty quickly, espec when played fast, even tho guys permutate them in many different ways and guys recycle and modify their licks all the time, I am kinda done with bebop, so bring on post bop, etc.
Joe Henderson on (s), Louis Hayes (d), Avery Sharpe (b), Freddie Hubbard (t), and McCoy Tyner on piano
Wow Lewis heys.
Pretty sure the first half or so of the first tune Birdlike was cut out? This video starts at the trades and they only play the melody out.
Anyone have the full version?
Harika❤🎉
love.
AS GOOD as it Getzzzzz ...
por dios esto esta increibleee 52:24
Ineffable
Rest In Peace
I don't know how what Hubbard was doing could be called "notes" or "melody" or "harmony" but it was pretty freaking incredible! (I pity the fool who tries to transcribe it!)
9:00 Visionary bass solo.
no not at all, stanley clarke was doing that style over 10 years earlier, in the 70s, so by the 80s everyone was playing that way...many people copied and were influenced by clarkes 70s style
It seems Tyler ended up playing the exact style of music that he once found to be unfamiliar.
Inner Glimpse starts around 46:30
44:52
#2 'Just Feeling' = Nice.
Richard Kuklinsky
WTF? THE ICEMAN?!?
