The street food selection in Guilin was insane! And the pure beauty of this place is off the charts. This really is rice noodle heaven!! Hope you’re all doing well! China does have some incredibly beautiful places. I think I'll go to Guilin some day. A couple years ago, my wife and I went to WuYiShan. We took a slow (6 hour) train there from FuZhou where my inlaws live and had a lot of fun chatting with the other passengers. They grow quite a bit of tea there, called rock tea I believe (I bought some so I can show you if you like to know the Chinese name). It was a guided tour with a small group and they took us to so many interesting places. We climed one of the mountains (well, by stairs though, not the hard core thing you do hehe). And perhaps it has something to do with the time of year, because we went there in June and it was also incredibly foggy. So we could look down from a railing into what must have been some green valley, because you can see the ground close to you slope downward, but as the ground just disappears into the fog after a few meters, we couldn't see the bottom, which gave an almost fantasy-world-like feel to the whole experience. The raft ride was really cool and if you tip the guys steering the raft, they may sing some songs and maybe let you steer the raft as well. It turned out I had some talent for it hehe. On the raft ride, wear shoes that you don't care about getting wet or slippers. I got some very nice pictures and memories from that experience. And they have this incredible show on a rotating platform, with light effects, late in the evening about the history of the tea trade, with some kung fu stunts. If you go there, try to get a seat by the stairs, I think they serve tea at the end of the show to the people sitting by the stairs. We were not so adventurous when it comes to food though, so I can't say too much about that. But we did have a tea tasting workshop.
Yeah, Fujian Province is a good place. Wuyi Mountain is famous for Rock Tea "Da Hong Pao". Da Hong Pao can sell for up to US$1,025,000 per kilogram or US $35,436 per ounce (20g of Da Hong Pao tea from one of the mother plants was sold for ¥156,800 in 1998
i don't know why i'm getting emotional. this video, that scenery, that food omggg speechless. and the music, im sure i couldnt have been the only one mesmerized by it. the erhu sound
Thats why people, dont assume all of China is the same! Every region is different. And please be respect, the people you write horribly and rudely about are all human. Dont look down upon them, especially when you dont know much about the culture or the people. It makes me sad that some people are filled with so much hate.
This is the first video I've seen that's actually made me want to get on a plane and visit China. I envy you and your job. Traveling around, eating amazing food, telling the rest of us about it. Very cool.
Guilin also smells so good. The osmanthus tree fragrance will be with me forever. Take some bottles home as presents of perfume. And another interesting thing to visit is the post office with so many interesting Chinese stamps. The karsts are amazing and the river tour we took was in a larger boat and we ended drinking with people from 5-6 other countries. And the little boats attach and come to your window selling fruit. Unique experience.
Your show is not just about food, but also culture and people. What's most incredible is filming this by a person from western country who speaks Chinese. Thank you and keep up the good job!
I have been to Japan few times, but never been to China. The two countries are so close to each other, but, they are so different in culture. China looks very beautiful. Good to see that Chinese are able to have a decent quality of life now days.
fd11fd33fd99 almost everything deemed as japanese culture rooted in ancient china specifically han chinese culture china is just very big with many different peoples
Trevor your videos are so good that I am even regretting not experiencing these awesome foods in person while I had the chance before going to the states for college. Right now I can only eat chicken breasts while watching your videos.
I love watching your videos, not only is it entertaining, but it actually boosts my appetite. You see, I don't eat regularly and have eating problems. But watching your videos makes me hungry.
I love your videos! I lived in China for several years. I adore your respect for Chinese culture and people. You would be a great ambassador tor the USA in today's political climate. I am so ashamed of my countries behavior in today's climate. Your honesty and authenticity are refreshing. I enjoy watching the behavior of the Chinese people in the background of your videos. Those people add so much to the character of respect demonstrated by the videos! Please make more!! If it is convenient please make a video in the fine city of Jinan. I lived in Jinan for several years and miss those fine people sooo much.
Trevor been watching you for a while and how you got from near 250k sub to 500+ so quick I love you how you promote love and food in China, not like those other westerners that view China as China=bad.
We loved those mountains. It's a nice add to your videos to add that kind of footage. Definitely want to see more of that kind of stuff wherever you go. Stay hungry!!
Currently in Vietnam (Da Nang) Planning 30 days in China 1st week in May and this video confirmed our choice to include Guilin in the journey. Well done. Thankyou.
I went there on my 2nd to last trip there, by far the greatest place I've ever been. Luckily the days we were day, it was clear. We stayed in a town inside the mountains and just walking around was amazing. I want to go back soon.
Pasta in Europe = From China Europe first was introduced to Pasta during the Silk Trade thus pasta is not French or Italian but Chinese. Similar to Corn / Potatoes are from the America's.
Didn't you buy into the American lie that all China exports is nothing but crap? Do yourselves a favor and don't eat any pastas and don't shop at Walmart lol.
I've just watched dozens of your videos over the last couple of days, I've wanted to travel around Asia for a while but you've really inspired me to go see China! (I even just started learning a little Mandarin cause it sounds so beautiful..) Would you ever do a video focusing on some of the vegetarian street food options? All of the food looks amazing but it would be so helpful to have an idea of how easy it is to eat veggie in China! 谢谢
Great video as always. Ive been to Guilin with my family 15 years ago and i still miss the rice noodles there. It's incredible. Btw your Chinese is really good you can even understand what they were saying through their heavy accent. Nice job and keep it up
Guilin and Yangshuo are some of the most beautiful places I have been to. Also the food was amazing! Thanks so much for this video it has reminded me how much I miss the Guilin area.
yu c which part of Fujian are you from? For me, growing up there, I remembered seafood is always top notch. But I still like Beijing or Guangdong food better though. Their taste is more packed
The Food Ranger You should definitely try food in Fujian. Simple but unique. There are a lot of amazing street food in costal cities like Xiamen, Zhangzhou, Quanzhou.
Thanks a lot for sharing such a huge variety of pure authentic Chinese dishes which a normal person may have never ever heard of or never ever tasted outside china.. Iam so tempeted with these dishes that once in a life time i want to visit china and taste all of these dishes...
Trevor, you are such a natural travel and food guide!! I whole heartedly enjoy every one of your videos, it feels as if I'm traveling with you. I hope to travel to China within the next couple of years. Thanks for the amazing content!!
Just spellbound watching your videos! Will be rewatching many in this series as I am moving to Vietnam and will be doing visa runs. I will take extra time to travel to some of the places in this series! Bravo! Hello from Victoria BC🇨🇦
My list of places I want to go to just keeps increasing with every video! Thanks a lot for sharing this amazing experience with us, Trevor. Your passion shows in your work, your videos are far more interesting than what you see on some TV channels. I'm sure you'll be a big name in the culinary tourism field sooner than you think! If you ever have the opportunity to, make sure to come visit Brazil! The country was built on the syncretism of many different cultures (native indigenous tribes, africans, europeans, japanese and others), so there's a lot of delicious food born from this mix that you can't find anywhere else in the world. Much love from Brazil!
The way you describe your food in detail, I can close my eyes and actually taste it!! love your shows and keep them coming! Praying for your safe travels, God Bless :)

Velda F can’t agree more
ruclips.net/video/9MtoSKpi2xg/видео.html
Exactly. I have been living in China for 5 years and Chinese people are wonderful. The food is fantastic and the culture is so rich.
Shut up Velda.. what do you even know! Guangxi province is the least developed and has the most ignorant, barbaric people all over China !
China has plenty of problems, but Guilin and Hangzhou are two of the most beautiful, amazing cities in the world.
This is the first video I've seen that's actually made me want to get on a plane and visit China. I envy you and your job. Traveling around, eating amazing food, telling the rest of us about it. Very cool.
OMG! That little baby eating the noodles was THE cutest!
I agree, it was a lovely scene.

Thanks for the comment! Hope you can come to China!
fd11fd33fd99 I would not say that the culture between these two countries are so different, they are many similarities as well.
Basically, China and Japan has a shared culture which comes from ancient China.
fd11fd33fd99 almost everything deemed as japanese culture rooted in ancient china specifically han chinese culture china is just very big with many different peoples
LOL you mean great ways of hiding utter corruption and devastating economic situation that leads to human rights being completely ignored? Great QoL.
Trevor your videos are so good that I am even regretting not experiencing these awesome foods in person while I had the chance before going to the states for college. Right now I can only eat chicken breasts while watching your videos.

ChefMK this is all about the knife!! Traditional Chinese dishes only need one knife to do the work.
I love watching your videos, not only is it entertaining, but it actually boosts my appetite. You see, I don't eat regularly and have eating problems. But watching your videos makes me hungry.

Pasta in Europe = From China
Europe first was introduced to Pasta during the Silk Trade thus pasta is not French or Italian but Chinese. Similar to Corn / Potatoes are from the America's.
Queen Elizabeth II didn't everyone already know that
Didn't you buy into the American lie that all China exports is nothing but crap? Do yourselves a favor and don't eat any pastas and don't shop at Walmart lol.
well that is not exactly true, europe has pasta dishes since ancient Greece
If it's from the queen it must be true

like your vids, gotta go to China to get some noodles, so hard to get what you are eating here in calgary, canada
In Calgary? You can go to Chinatown in Calgary and there is a restaurant called Guilin Noodles, but I've never been there.
yixiao when I lived in calgary I had to go there almost every week. Friendly owner, great noodles. Highly recommend
I usually go to Dynasty Restaurant. (Tang Du) lol
GuangXi rice noodle is different from other provinces.
i don't think u can have it in canada.
One of these days I have to travel to China... Awesome videos man I truly never get sick of any of them.

Food Ranger, Do you ever plan to go to Fujian for some seafood heaven?
I haven't been yet, but will definitely have to go!
He has been to Guangdong a few times already. I am from Fujian, but I think the Cantonese seafood>fujianese.
yu c which part of Fujian are you from? For me, growing up there, I remembered seafood is always top notch. But I still like Beijing or Guangdong food better though. Their taste is more packed

What a cute baby!
It simply amazes me how cheap food is over there. And it's good, home made food! In America we get served overpriced, processed slop.
Ljink American have fast food. I love the stinky taco
and you have to pay tips for that hypercritical service, totally bs
I was saying the same thing
and the tips
Loved this video! The mountainous landscapes look amazing, now I REALLY want to visit China :).
Thanks for making such great videos!
This amazing video took me to a kind of dream land. I will visit Guilin and eat lots of rice noodles and think about you and your amazing skill.
I want to go there 😍 OMG I want to eat all Chinese food . Im hungry now 😢😂
sharina custodio ayy for reals . 💯😁
Guilin rice noodle and Vietnamese Pho are lost twins.
你好 朋友!你喜欢 做 工作, 太好了。这个电影 很好看, 再见

I hope you never run out of places to visit and make videos of, fantastic work.
Bro! Awesome language skills. How did you learned it?
I love noodles. Now I know the region in China I must visit :)
this city is actually famous for its rice noodles. If you like ramen, Lanzhou city is the go to place.
chengdu is good too
But in Beijing, you can get them all. XD
14:16 lol the baby
My list of places I want to go to just keeps increasing with every video! Thanks a lot for sharing this amazing experience with us, Trevor. Your passion shows in your work, your videos are far more interesting than what you see on some TV channels.
I'm sure you'll be a big name in the culinary tourism field sooner than you think!

Much love from Brazil!
The way you describe your food in detail, I can close my eyes and actually taste it!! love your shows and keep them coming! Praying for your safe travels, God Bless :)
that baby at the end is soooo cute
The food looks so yum but Trevor gave such average ratings!
All that for $1.67? really?
I'm moving to china
Matt Luevano yes
Matt Luevano sure,in China you can eat the best food with the lowest price. What 1 euro can buy in Europe? A cup of espresso in Italy. So expensive
Matt Luevano yes the economy in china is excellent so u can eat more with less money and do alot more things
An undervalued currency will do that for you
The scenery is incredibly beautiful
lovely scenery and fresh air and beautiful peaks
"Do you grow up eating this?"
The correct translation is:
你吃这个长大吗?
Instead of :
你长大吃这个吗?
Several times I see that locals couldn't understand you...
Thanks so much for the correction
The Food Ranger 👍
王禹植 嗯 有的時候。
and the 嘶哑茶 is actually 石崖茶,you know, cliff tea
bruh i really want to visit China now
I am about to eat my phone....
