**The Do's and Don'ts of Cliff Jumping, 20 Tips:**
    1) Start slow, start small, you want to be around to jump another day.
    2) The jump always looks much higher when you’re up there, if you don’t feel like you can fully commit, then don’t, you can always do it later in the day or the next time you go up.
    3) Don’t mess with the cliffs. A good thing to do at the beginning of the jumping season, slap the rocks, feel how hard they are and appreciate what it will be like to hit them when free falling.
    4) Listen to people that are familiar with the spot, listen to the local jumpers.
    5) Check the water and the depth. Climb down and go for a swim. Is everything clear down there? Are there lots of floaters around, logs in the water, some may be below surface. Are there areas you should avoid landing? Make sure you know where they are when you go back to the top.
    6) When standing, don’t turn your back to the cliff when you’re on the ledge, unless you have one knee down and a hand on the ground.
    7) Overhang cliffs are the best, and remember, jump away from the cliff, push off and clear it, go for maximum distance away from the wall/rocks, unless of course your jumping in a narrow zone, i.e. between walls, then don’t.
    8) Learn how to swim well, I’ve met a lot of people that weren’t good swimmers and realized real quick that they had to become better.
    9) Don’t do medium or large jumps solo, have backup. Even the best jumpers land wrong at some point.
    10) In general, try to stick with the jumps that you only need to take no more than a couple of steps to clear, the ones that you have to run to clear are the most dangerous. You can stumble, trip, etc… Over time I’ve come to avoid these jumps.
    11) During the jump stabilize with your arms, but when hitting the water you want to be straight, solid, tighten up, it’s about the core. Realize that you are about to take a hit, prepare for it.
    12) Don’t hold your nose, don’t have your hands in front of your face, and I tend not to cover the jewels. I would rather not have kickback.
    13) Wear jumping shoes, usually older lightweight shoes or swimming shoes.
    14) Rivers, Lakes, Oceans…. order of danger. I gear towards oceans.
    15) Don’t look at the water during impact. Center your head, look straight into the horizon.
    16) Arms on the side during impact. Protect yourself.
    17) The impact is hard; recuperation time may be long, or never. Be careful.
    18) There are multiple ways to get winded. You can get winded even on medium jumps. This is extremely dangerous. Make sure you are strong enough to take the hit. If you get winded, head straight to a wall and hang on. If someone is there with you, they better be in the water trying to save your life.
    19) When you hit the water, open up, open arms, legs, slow down. Try not to go too deep.
    20) I don’t do rope jumps. Those are the ones that I’ve seen some of the worst hits. Even pros can have the rope rap around their legs or ankles.

Great video, my friend. Only thing I would add is to go to the local pool and practice water landings (depending on whether you're a good swimmer or strong of breath, you can work on the fast-stop or the depth-probe approaches). I used to have a pool with a 10-meter platform so that was quite good practice, very easy to touch the bottom if you're not careful to spread and hook under water. Also, when you're not used to the height, staring 33 feet in the eye definitely makes your plums shrink right up into your body ;)

Great advice, practice makes perfect, not to mention it can save your life.

For sure, Deiber, got lots of books that i plan on and would love to read and review for you guys. There are 30 more that we already have planned on reading for Reading Set #4 and hopefully there will be many more reading sets to come. Got to love the world of comics, one of the greatest things that our civilization has created :)

    I've been jumping for years
In my past when I was learning cliff jumps / flips
I hardly ever jumped off somthing I hadn't seen somone jump from-
-But I found a crazy rope swing (tree eventually fell) and a over hang cliff that I found walkable distance from home
    - I've jumped off this 1000s of times
I got backflips perfect but im scared of front flips so I do ganors
I've landed bellyflops, backflops from +30ft doing
I started jumping at a young age tho
And I was obsessed with my trampoline and kinda mixed my trampoline knowledge with cliff jumps
And the first time I tried a flip I made the mistake of not thinking about "time" and flipped just like I was on a trampoline
After 1 flip i instantly started flailing and backflopped bad
But a week or 2 later
I kept trying and realized how slow
    You need to flip
When I was like 14 i use to jump off a pier and a stranger said I could have beer if I did a flip so I tried a front flip off a pier 20ft+ and over flipped and hit my nuts right on the water...
Ran home crying and didnt take my beer

lived a short walk from a 40 foot bridge that had a supportive over ridge that made it a 50. At least 2 people died a year jumping off it. Remember that the river bottom changes every year due to flooding. A 20 foot clear has become a 5 foot

@Chycho I learned in martial arts its a good idea to breath out or Yell before you take a hit to your stomach or chest because yelling or breathing out makes it impossible to have the wind knocked out of you but I have never been cliff jumping although I have tried this technique on some of those old rough roller costers that knock you around a bit. Would using this yelling technique be a good idea in cliff jumping? I hope to do some of this cliff jumping one day and awesome video as always!

    • @chycho
      @chycho  7 лет назад

For sure, there are many jumps that I've done and still do that I yell during the fall. It's fun to do actually, amazing feeling free falling and yelling, good to know it has other benefits. Thanks.

Hi, thanks for the vote of confidence :)
As for the color of orbs, not sure. The reflection orbs will most likely be the color that the particle/glass/etc reflect. As for ghost orbs, that one is anyone's guess.

Love the stories man people are crazy. We have a bridge here at the local river spot about 25-30ft bridge were everyone jumps off is a big deep pool. There was a group of local drunks that would do naked flips off the top an whatnot. But the craziest was a hippie who decided to show them up by diving off the top of the bridge like fucking Pocahontas an landed on his head 😂. Lucky he didn’t get a concussion 😅

There is this cliff which is very high but it leads to shallow water, it's got rock getting more near to the water so you have to sort of jump a lot in order not to hit that section but you don't need to jump to much far away other wise you will hit a stalagmite
