The tip on the Escoda Perla is amazing! I have it in a size 8 and was shocked at how sharp and pointed it is. But I do really like the Escoda Versatil, maybe even better than the Perla. I have a #6 travel Versatil that I find myself reaching for all the time. Your videos are great, take care friend.
I don't use my riggers much either since I got some wonderful sword liners. Rosemary makes some with the same fibers as Perla, but I find mine a bit drippy. I really like my Silver Black Velvet sword. My favorite synthetic squirrel fibers are the Tintoretto and they make AMAZING LINERS (the feltarocco ones)
Great idea to have a new year, new beginning set up. I think I'll meditate on this and see what two kits I can come up with. I would probably need one for landscapes and another for urban sketching stuff. I must admit, I've got a bit of a rabbit-hole stash to choose from...That said, I'm tempted by that Frank Herring compact watercolour palette for the deep mixing wells. Mind you, when I'm on the move, I usually use separate mixing wells from old jar lids.
What a well-organised vid! loved it~ i might have to do one too, if i could get organised myself 😅🤣🤣 so many perlas~ oh wait, that's so funny.... so my older #2 raphael isn't as pointy as your #7 raphael. it's more like your escoda ultimo. interestinggggg.
Wait, what….? No earth red? From the man who got me to start using them? I like Baohong Academy paper too. I’ll be very interested to see how you like the rough. I got some Softaqua quills in smaller sizes and I really like them too.
I bought some Escoda Versatils in late Summer and I like them very much. But I found them awkward to use on precise work due to the large-ish belly, intermittent point and moderate to low spring. I ended up buying some Princeton Aqua Elite Series 4850's in Round ( not Long Round ) and I really enjoy using them too - especially the liner brush.
How long do the Perlas last? I was a little surprised to realize that synthetics can potentially wear out in a year or less. I mean they are fine but the tip goes or develops a hook. I do see your #10 shows how well loved it is :)
The colors in your palette intrigued me, it is different than most artists color choices.

I ordered some of the paper the other day. It should be here tomorrow I think. I can't wait to try it out.
