You know I love this. With Tudor you usually get strong tool watch disguised as a dress watch and this does it nicely. This is the perfect wedding watch to me. Very informative review!
@@engineer_wannabe Did you sell this watch? Was removing 2 links on the bottom side of bracelet difficult? (Looking at all the pictures, i thought it only had one removable link on that side)
I think the capped gold intermediate links are fine since solid gold, as you know, is a soft metal, and wouldn't hold the bracelet together as strongly as steel links.
Tudor would use capped gold in the band links for added strength and better durability - but it would be nice if they were more forthcoming about that fact
I just ordered a black 38mm after going all over the board on Tudors, very excited to receive it. That pin that connects the bracelet to the lug is more than likely a solid push in pin. The Tudor Monarch watches of the 90's had an integral bracelet and had the lug hole with solid pin, very hard to remove.
Really appreciate your videos! I just received a Tudor Royal 38mm in sunburst blue as a wedding gift as my first ever watch and you’re the first channel I’ve checked out. You’ve really helped me develop a watch itch that I never had in my life 😅 about to go pick up a GS “sky flake”sbga407. We are going to be watch bros with similar but different watches. Keep the great content coming 🤜🏻🤛🏻
Excellent review 👏 👌 i love your content man, I've seen a few of your videos and I'll subscribe also..i just loved how you actually showed the thickness of the capped gold, it's amazing how many video reviews I've seen with production and fancy angle shots + edited music and your simple review was so much more interesting and informative 😊 i think that watch is just gorgeous it's a shame you got rid of it..keep up the good work 🙌
Hey Bro, didn’t left a comment here, really love what Tudor die present there, I still would like to add a Tudor to my collection one day, and I love the Royal DD but also your version is very interesting. Great, especially in stelle and gold. Wear it in good health and keep up the good work. Cheers.🙏🏻 About the links in the bracelet: the gold there is done as they do it with the BB. It’s a steel linke with gold wrapped around. So no issues there at all 👍🏻
For sure a nice looking watch. Only thing that bothers me is the integrated bracelet. I suppose I don't need to worry about bracelet stretch after 15 years, as I am getting pretty old already. Haha. I have the two tone Glamour, which is similar in some ways. I wish my glamour had Roman's.... Great review with good camera work.
Thank you for the awesome review! I am considering this model as well. But after watching your explanation on the capped links and the solid 18k gold bezel, I am curious as to how heavy will the bezel be?
Have you had an occurrence whereby once pulling the crown to the time winding position, the minute hand slips and can't set the time? I screwed the crown back in and pulled again and it worked fine... Unusual behaviour for a new watch (Tudor Royal)? Regards
I prefer the GS you're wearing instead of the bi-color Tudor, and lol you have me searching for a GS:). Isn't the bracelet too wide for this case ? Tudor isn't the poor man's Rolex no more, past decade they gave us great models and claimed a spot of their own in the watch pyramid. I just wish they would use ceramic bezels in their sport collection, despite the vintage look they wanted for the BB 58, I would like a ceramic insert on it. Thank you for one more great review 🙂
@@engineer_wannabe don't get me wrong EW, I'll try to make it short. I see a resemblance to AR Royal/VC Overseas. I have them both, but if I hadn't had either of those 2 and came this Tudor, I would definitely go with either AP or VC. The price is different yes, and if money was an issue, I would save. I judge each watch, regardless the price, according to my criteria. I will appreciate a cheap or a high end watch if it matches my criteria/use. I have the same appreciation for say a Halios and a Lange 31 days PR. I love watches:) Despite my appreciation for Tudor ( especially the past decade) this model isn't for me:(
You say the bezel and crown are solid 18k gold, but are you sure? I don't think they are. The Tudor website refers to them as "18k", but as you noted it says exactly the same about the links and these are capped gold. I believe it's the same for the bezel and crown. Happy to be corrected if someone can prove otherwise!
@RUclips RUclips Oh so harsh! Well, I did. The first time. Don't believe me? Check out 2:12 - 2:16 and let me know what you think he means by solid gold then.
Hmmm...you make a good point. I was going on my AD's word about the bezel and crown. (They knew without hesitation that the bracelet links were capped gold so they were most likely briefed by Tudor?) I do believe it is solid gold as the weight difference between similar models was significant. But I can't seem to find any information confirming that online
@RUclips RUclips Yes I agree - that's what I was saying. In my experience it's unheard of to be offering solid 18k gold fittings on a £2500 watch. Especially when it's only a £750 uplift from the all-steel version. Tudor ought to be clearer about this. Mind you, they are not the only ones to call something "gold" when in fact it is gold plated/capped/filled/rolled, all of which are much cheaper to make.
@@engineer_wannabe A good point about the weight - that's the advantage of real over virtual viewings! 😉 I've also looked online and found mixed answers. I think it's capped (price) but suspect the only way to be sure is to directly ask Tudor themselves. It would be interesting to see what they say. BTW - if the bezel IS solid gold I will be very impressed!!
Hey man, no I personally think it'll look great. But what matters more is if you think it looks great. Always good to try before you buy, if at all possible 👍
@@engineer_wannabe I looked at 2 tone in my youth aspirations then it became a crass falsehood of vanity as I searched for tool like strength and meaning after I discovered 70s retro don genta design and now approaching middle ages I am drawn in the lockdown to sexy bling
Haha 😄 My wife is my best friend, which sounds corny but oh well 😉 (She actually encouraged me to keep the watch but I couldn't knowing that she hated it)
I am not sure what I think about this watch. From a design point, it looks too much like a generic brand version of a Rolex Datejust but with weird retro vibes that to me look a bit dated. I also think that this watch, looking so close to a Rolex, devalues Tudor as a brand. While they have released several models recently that are unique to Tudor, this brings the brand back to looking only like a budget Rolex. This is bad for the Tudor brand as a whole. Good review though.
I got mine yesterday in 41mm black dial with diamonds. It’s like a dream came true I love it

Yes, you're right 🙂
It makes sense that the bracelet links are capped gold. Gold would be a bit too soft for that application.

Rolex jubilee is the same. They just hallow w/ plates on each side. TUDOR fills them in w/ stainless. / same or maybe better. Jubilee bracelets only

It's a garish watch that is a perfect foil for your beautiful GS.

Thanks for your support Mr B. 😊
Yes the capped gold will certainly last for the lifetime of the bracelet. No concerns on my part 😉
I own a Tudor Classic which is fairly similar to this, but in stainless steel with a silver dial. Great piece and very accurate
Excellent review. Love having you in front of the camera. What about one of the newly updated Omega Constellations instead?
I agree! Tried on the 36mm one and they are great!
This slipped under my Radar. Will definitely look into it :)
Also, thank you very much for the kind words!
Looks clean but I think 38mm looks a little big on you. 34mm would suit you more

This watch would’ve been perfection if they omitted that date window that disrupts the dial.
i think im going to gift myself this one for my birthday

Funnily enough I know of a British watchmaker who is making an engineur type under the Smith's brand perhaps even two tone.
Are the numerals and logo Capped Gold or Solid Gold?
La laminatura dorata del bracciale si potrà far lucidare?? Gli orologiai non lucidano mai l’oro placcato

Congrats! Hope you thoroughly enjoy it!
What is your wrist size? Sorry if you mention this.
Does anyone know how much gold is there in these watches? In weight?
U should've kept it. It really suited u bro
I do miss it from time to time but I don't regret selling it.
I bet it'd look great on you as well!
Great video brother!
Any thoughts on Tudor Royal vs Maurice Lacroix Aikon?
I’ve never actually had any experience with an Aikon. It’s a nice watch though
What size wrist are you?
so how to release or remove the bracelet? :)
Thanks for this great review, when will you do a bb 36 s&g review? 😁
Thanks for watching. Already done from a couple of months ago 👍😄

yes
Did you have a chance to check what is the weight of the watch? I tried to find this info on the Tudor website, but without success.

Does the bezel reflect light like the rolex fluted?
No, it doesn't. It's very different and quite a bit less reflective because of the grooved sections
