A pianist SHOULD have two (roughly) equal hands. Only reason that isn't the case is either ignorance or laziness. Only the first of those two reasons is permissible.
Giant kudos to you for not letting your disability get in the way. Your story and your smooth playing is motivation for all of us who need a kick in the pants to overcome ours.
The left hand is difficult to build for many different reasons! Don’t beat yourself up about it because you can have a successful career with a weaker left hand!
Amazing 🎹🎶...Thank u for sharing your story Sir...this proves that the love u have for you Art is beyond any obstacle...thank you and stay blessed ...Amen...
DB HAVE YOU GOT A COURSE ON WORKING THE LEFT HAND WHERE YOU TAKE IT ELEMENTARY? If not what are the 2 to 7 areas one can really concentrate on to work it? Mind you there were also some slick melodies there that made the song pop more, how do you work those as well. Your story sit well with me. It was lit 🔥
Really nice sound! Will work on this piece when I get back from vacation. Something else to check out is Chopin's etude 10 1. It's about the ultimate 10th stretch exercise I know of . also known as "waterfalls", it was quite revolutionary at the time as it was the first piece written to really work that 10th stretch in the right hand. A lot of players learn to play the right-hand part with the left-hand also, so that you keep your technical ability of the left hand on par with the right. Sorry I don't know how to include a link. There are numerous performances of it on RUclips.
That sounds great I have small hands so have to work on using pedal and rolling the notes. I love sound of spread voicings. Side note: The great pianist Leon Russell as a child got polio that affected the right side of his body. Like you he started working hard on his left hand and developed a style based on his strong left hand that producers liked.
This technique reminds me of Art Tatum or Fats Waller, another way you can develop your left hand is to play ostinato bass patterns with extensions added in the arpeggio like 9ths 11ths or 13ths and you can use the pedal to sustain some of the harmonies that you create and play single note melodic phrases in your right hand, you just need be careful when and where you use the pedal so that your harmonies don't clash. P.S As the saying goes listen carefully and let your ear be the governor.
I started out with getting the octaves down, then 9ths and I would challenge myself to get to 10ths later! I can reach a #11 which is crazy 😂! I recommend getting used to playing triads and 7th chords in your left to develop the muscles needed to play 10ths. 🙏🏾
I swear down . You are too good in 🎹 piano. Please l wish you could transfer all your knowledge which you have in me. I want to get this kind of injury that you had that made you to be this good and flexible with your left hand ✋
All things work together for the good of those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose…even in injury God had a plan for you doc and thank you for using it to help build little ol musicians such as myself
For playing the piano, our hands are actually really badly designed. The strongest three fingers (thumb, index and middle) are always located in the center of the keyboard, whereas the most important parts of virtually any piece of music (the melody and the bass) rely our our "weakest" fingers to execute properly. You'd wish we had our left hand on the right arm, and our right hand on the left arm instead ... 🤣
Ok, so you made this video for what reason? To show that you can play with your left hand? This is great if you only have one hand. Ok genius (I'm being sarcastic) how do you incorporate that with your right hand?
@@DeyquanBowens Negro, you showed people you playing only with your left hand with no right hand accompaniment. LOL. Just because you can play music don't mean you can teach music. KC from PrettySimpleMusic is a very good piano teacher which is why he has over 200k subscribers. Step your teaching game up.

This is probably my weakest skill that I have not taken the proper time to work on over the years. Thanks for this video!

Thanks for the gems! I’ve never heard of Leon Russel! I got some homework to do lol!
Enjoying your content. What did you do to be able to reach the 10th? I can only reach the 9th at this time!
Excellent thanks.

Lucky you. My hand cannot play a tenth like yours

Quennel Gasky play the same left hand that you for the lessons
Wow

I should send him a tutorial on how to punch repetitively without hurting your hand.
Will I ever get there?
Yes you can be the best musician you choose to be but you have to be realistic and consider outside factors that can get in the way!
I swear down . You are too good in 🎹 piano. Please l wish you could transfer all your knowledge which you have in me. I want to get this kind of injury that you had that made you to be this good and flexible with your left hand ✋

Even if I stretch my finger isn't reaching the tenth
Are your fingers pink I thought you were brown?
My left hand is too heavy. I need to get my bass lighter.
You’ll get there!
All a gotta do is hurt my pinkie to play like that?
Pinkie you are...black people don't have pinkies.

🤔 This is interesting and now that I think about it, our weaker fingers do all the work lol!
Why you embarrass me like that? You play 10 x better with left hand then I do with right
Lol man keep pushing!
