Imma break this down: *With both controllers watchin' Gazans and Ashkenazis ride roller coasters* Gazans are Palestinians. Ashkenazis are one of two major ancestral groups of Jewish individuals, comprised of those whose ancestors lived in Central and Eastern Europe (e.g., Germany, Poland, Russia). A lot of those who moved to what is now Israel after WW2 were Ashkenazis. So with both controllers (2 player), the two who are usually in conflict with each other, are riding roller coasters (ie going through lifes ups and downs...you may have heard the phrase "life is a rollercoaster"). *Say yeah, yeah, lots of options, now up is down, two player* Up is down is a play on roller coasters but also you go from up to down to switch to two player in Sega Genesis games. Two players for the two enemies are playing against each other. *Now A is jump and B is punch, you seein' somethin' that wasn't there* A few things. Unlike Nintendo controller which has two buttons, Sega controller added a button. So you seein something that wasnt there. Now in connection to the previous talk about Muslims and Jews, one can look at the buttons as one for each Abrahamic religion and Islam came after Judaism and Christianity so you seein something that wasnt there. I think there is even a third layer, but imma keep this short so I wont go there. *To find friendliness in a nemesis, it's a old test* *Three buttons, see somethin', that's emphasis on Genesis, oh yeah* Its an old test of God's to find friendliness in a nemesis (or with people of other religions) and all three religions encourage showing kindness, mercy, and forgiveness to others. The three religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam) all agree that the original *old test* -ament is a holy book and they share related messaging. The three religion came one after another, so it can be seen as God repeating the message for emphasis. Lupe is talking about how people of the Abrahamic religions can resolve their disputes and the answer is in the message they all share. Also, what is insane to me about the line "emphasis on Genesis" is not only the point about the book of Genesis, but also how Lupe has emphasized Sega Genesis throughout the song (Sega games like Lolo Twin Dragons and Metal Gear Solid). This whole song is Lupe using Video Games, Album Covers, and other impactful pop culture commodities to talk about serious political and societal issues.
We NEED more Lupe! Like at least Fiasco Fridays. Or Wasalu Week. Whatever you wanna call it. What I’m trying to get at is… can we just please get some more Lupe?!
In my opinion Lupe's one of 2.. Maybe 3 rappers who've reached the heights of lyrical complexity in Hip Hop while also making great music. Food & Liquor and The Cool are classics. Tetsuo & Youth and DROGAS Wave are 2 of the best rap albums of the past decade and Drill Music in Zion is another phenomenal album in my opinion. He's definitely in my top 5.
Absolutely love that one of the TOP FIVE reactors is giving Lupe some shine! I hope this can help bring his brilliance to a wider audience. I don’t think most people grasp how much Lupe really does with his pen, or how intricate his schemes really are. You’re a real one for this Knight! Now where’s part 2 of Mural??? Haha.
Lupe has been in my top 3 ever since The Cool. But glad you got to him. Lupe is definitely not for everyone. I remember many ppl telling me that they can't listen to Lupe because he makes them think. Yeah that part. But great reaction as always

lupe fiasco is still in my opinion the top 5 lyricist of all time......i keep him slightly above eminem cause not even every song has deep lyrics but a true message in every track...i am telling you man...if he had not dealt with all that lable trouble...he will be on the top...his music is not to vibe but to admire as art
Thank you for this reaction and to the people explaining some of the more difficult lines to decipher. Always loved this song but knew I was missing a lot of the messaging.
This is my first time seeing/hearing this song and what I got from the whole song is “stop trying to grow up so fast” and stop trying to be your own person so fast” because it is saying that about babies trying to get money and get grown too fast. And it even applies too the biblical stuff too. Because Adam and Eve were supposed to do what god said and never eat the apple as well but they wanted to be above the rules / grown so fast that they defied the rules to see what would happen and they got cursed. Either way you slice it. It seems like the message is don’t grow up too fast. Follow the rules while you have time or you will be forced to grow up and learn the hard way. That’s what I’m getting????
Ima be honest with you, trying to pick my favorite Lupe album is like picking my favorite child 😂 it’s so hard because there are some better than others maybe from a technical perspective, but I genuinely appreciate every body of work he has put out and the different stages and maturation of his music. In all honesty I caught on to Lupe a little later than others with his first album but going back and listening to the mixtapes is crazy

Adoration of the Magi is also the name for the 3 wise men visiting baby Jesus to pay homage. So it's another layer to the whole theme of threes - (Judaism, Christianity, Islam) (past, present, future) (holy trinity) (3 buttons of the genesis controller) as well as the hook "you just a baby".
One aspect of the song is about a stripper in a club that doesn't know she's pregnant. The yoga poses are the baby in the womb moving around ("posing", and the stripper "posing" in the club; the baby is posing "in this bitch" )

2nd verse starts off with him expressing how mothers say things like my baby is in there kicking, moving around, doing flips, or maybe even exercising. Lupe views it as the baby is doing yoga. Yoga builds strength and awareness to cultivate harmony between the body and the mind…in this bitch. We should continue this practice after birth but we become distracted and those who have the truth keep the light secret. They control us and dictate our life like a game with a couple of options but you are not really in control. We sit back and ride along afraid for our lives but also enjoy it. It is fairly straightforward but there is some really witty gems in it, the song sounds amazing. The naming of the ship-names that imported slaves maybe can throw off if not knowing one or the general sounding old school ship-names.

You can tell Lupe's influence in Kendrick, cause every time I hear a song from Lupe he always adds layers and symbolism to what he's saying, and it's like abstract art, he gives it to you for you to try to guess what the hell he's talking about. Also Stevie, please do reactions to MF DOOM & Aesop Rock, if we're discussing insane lyricists you need to also check them out.
I'm quite ignorant to Lupe Fiasco, didnt Lupe and Kendrick come up around about the same time? I find it hard to believe Lupe is the reason Kendrick adds the extra layers to his music but as I said, I'm quite ignorant to Lupe Fiasco and that time period of Kdot/(maybe)Lupe Fiasco coming up.
@@dopeyrelaxingsounds8607 There're videos about the K .Dot and Lupe comparisons, of course Kendrick was influenced by a lot of rappers but if you check Lupe's storytelling songs you can see some of the influence there. I really don't understand how people say Lupe is good but he doesn't make good music. I could listen to him all day everyday. I just listen to others to keep up with the scene. But I've never heard anyone close to this guy.
Yeah, Lupe is next level and I'm not going to pretend like a lot of it doesn't go straight over my head. Lupe, K-Dot, Em and Blackthought just on different level with the pen IMO. I'd put Mos Def and 3 Stacks in there as well if they made more music.
Lupe being my favorite MC since 06 I can honestly say I don't even understand everything he says but man, the appreciation I have for his skill level and artistry is infinite.
Lupe is the greatest English-speaking lyricist of all time, not the #1 storyteller, though (those are different skills in Hip Hop, imho). Nobody can tie different themes and subjects together that effortlessly into incredible bars and deliver them through such vivid similes, metaphors and homophones as Lupe does - only to allude to other subjects and bring them into focus in the last few lines of the last verse, flipping the entire track on its head and forcing you to listen to it again to make sure you catch (most of) it. Great examples for this are "Failure", "Piece of Paper/Cup of Jeazus", "Light Blue", "Pen and the Needles", "Hailé Selassie", "Super Cold", "Lupe the Killer", "WAV Files" and sooo many others.
He doesn't even need to tell stories. He has clearly chosen a different path conveying his message in riddles and not even explaining them to be understandable for everybody. Throughout the times story was used as the easiest method to convey message and meaning to ordinary people and he is going in the exact opposite direction.
Easily top 5. Third ernest a huge hip hop head and bar head and he loves Eminem but puts Lupe above Eminem. Not saying Lupe is better but there's a reason he's up there with Eminem and other top tier rappers.
Lupe Fiasco is better than Eminem in terms of content, He rhymes with extreme and I mean extreme purpose. Don't get it twisted, I'm a fan of EM but when I compare the two, Lupe is so deep with his lyrics.
@@Gintoki_Madao it's definitely the aoty for me. People be sleeping on Lu way too much. that first verse on the last song though. greatest verse of this year.

Want to know how coded this song was? Yoga means union. Meaning union with everything. The goal of yoga is not becoming one with all, but rather the true unshakable understanding that you always have been (Enlightenment). To experience that as a reality requires reaching the ultimate meditative state (Samadhi). In order to reach samadhi you must, among other things, acquire dispassion for everything external. After all, you “can’t be eyes closed when side scroll”
Lupe been top 5 since his first album. He’s a legit genius that can rap. His latest album is proof of that. He’s just not easy to digest. His only flaw really.
In my opinion he’s saying which religion you “choose” is a loop de loop and choosing between option “a” “b” and “c” will have different outcomes. It’s all a video game scheme. Who knows, I’m dumb as shit but that’s how I took that verse.
I need help to get him to do lupe fiasco Last supper rap and double burger with cheese for starters but I'm down for some drill music in Zion too I'm down for all albums
17:23 to the end is scene's from the movie South Central, the kid is born in to a gang dad founded and is in prison for murdering for it. Some scenes shown are from when kid gets shot in the back trying to steal a car stereo. The dad finds a Muslim prisoner who helps him turn his life around so he can get out and save his son. It's a good movie.
Stevie Knight would like songs like Hurt Me Soul as well. I think Lupe week would be great to see him breaking down lyrics of. Feel free to comment some suggestions below.
@@NickMintz he can't start with Put You On Game though if he wants to do the MYH saga then he needs to start from the beginning. He already did Put You On Game but he missed the whole song it's on patreon.
Lupe has a lot of layers to what he says…I can break down the stuff he does for days but I just wanted to add that he has a storyline in his songs based off a character named Michael Cool Young. When the songs based of this character is put into order, it plays like a Greek tragedy. Michael not having his father in his life caused him to be raised by the game which is represented as his OG and his girlfriend is represented by the streets.
This isn’t Lupe’s video. TimesNuRoman has a few Lupe video breakdowns on his channel. You should check out Mural, Dots n Lines, or Wav Files. He does phenomenal breakdowns.
The whole yoga thing starts with him saying let's vogue which is to pose... or be a poser... then ends it with Vulgar that sounds like vogue. Then goes on to religion which is full of posers
I just caught this while I was listening with you here. In the chorus when he says, "Why yo head is in the sky, you just a baby?" He's also referring to when people put a photo of someone in the sky amidst clouds on T-shirts after they pass away in the hood. This man's schemes are ridiculous!
FINALLY A LUPE. Not top 5 but he's def up there somewhere. He messed up with his label but I can't lie he a dope lyricist. Been ridin since day one with him.
@@Advaitamanta Eminem there im not sure... He emphasize on too much technicality of how the verse sounds and is structured and not on what he is saying. Im not saying he says gibberish im saying that he doesn't touch the depth in lyrics as fas as message goes when compared to others on your list. @@Advaitamanta Eminem is the only one there that’s up with Lupe, and imo Lupe is better because he’s still making classics to this day whereas I think Eminem fell off around ten years ago though he can still be good at times. My top 5 is Lupe, Nas, Kendrick, MF Doom, and Kano
I know part of the yoga part is about how yoga is supposed to be done in solitude. But people have yoga studios and use os sexually also. That why he said “Let’s try that again, with clothes with closer exposure” or something like that. I’d have to listen to that part again. But I’m on my lunch break so I don’t have time right now.

50 listens 20 scrolls through rap genius and a month long journey into a topic to understand whatever it happens to be got that particular song.
Lupe is the goat people hate on him cuz they can't understand his lyrics
Facts, bro. I love eminem, but he doesn't rap like this
Accurate lol he's so much the goat that only few know. Others can't fathom. He's just too much. The anomaly. The mural
Tru Realigion Lupe the best to ever do it
I disagree, but I respect your opinion bro👊🏾👊🏾!!!
@@Euoplocephalus2003. Nothing to disagree with, its not an opinion its a fact that Lupe is the best lyricist walking on this earth.
Yes absolutely!!! He's a lyrical genius
That TimesnuRoman channel is absolutely the best way to watch any lupe video
I really don't understand how people say Lupe is good but he doesn't make good music. I could listen to him all day everyday. I just listen to others to keep up with the scene. But I've never heard anyone close to this guy.
Yeah, Lupe is next level and I'm not going to pretend like a lot of it doesn't go straight over my head.
Lupe, K-Dot, Em and Blackthought just on different level with the pen IMO.
I'd put Mos Def and 3 Stacks in there as well if they made more music.
Em isn't in that category
What a coincidence i was just listening to The Cool earlier today.
Streets On Fire, what an amazing song.
Great to see you with some new Lupe. I've been wondering what ever happened to your review of the second half of Mural???
Lupe being my favorite MC since 06 I can honestly say I don't even understand everything he says but man, the appreciation I have for his skill level and artistry is infinite.
The dude that put this vid together needs a medal
Timesnuroman has more of these breakdowns, just as good.
A lupe review 😭😭😭
Dude..... You barely scratched the surface
Lupe is that guy... Yes, he's top 5
Why don't you review it for us Einstein
@@kinglyfe86 what the hell are you talking about
"Those precious things" on his new album is simple complexicity just as you like it
LOOK AT THE SYMBOLS "A,B,A,C,A,B,B." THAT'S THE BLOOD CODE FOR MORTAL KOMBAT ON GENIUS. LUPEEE!!!🔥🔥🔥
Lupe is the best storyteller. Name me a rapper who has a saga as good as Lu's MYH saga
Even "Dumb it Down" ironically is layered in entendres.
Easily top 5. Third ernest a huge hip hop head and bar head and he loves Eminem but puts Lupe above Eminem. Not saying Lupe is better but there's a reason he's up there with Eminem and other top tier rappers.
Skinny E knows
Lupe Fiasco is better than Eminem in terms of content, He rhymes with extreme and I mean extreme purpose. Don't get it twisted, I'm a fan of EM but when I compare the two, Lupe is so deep with his lyrics.
Lupe is definitely better from a lyrical and content stand point
"Lupe is much more deeper in lyricism than em"
I can agree w that
Would love to see some Aesop Rock reactions for some difficult bar breakdowns like this lol.
😭😭😭😭 Finally. Stevie we need a day for Lupe. lupe the only one I consider worthy to Battle Em. lu is different. drogas wave one of the greatest album
Even Drill Music In Zion
Nicely digestible and more focussed... People not including it in the discussion of rap album of the year is mad 😭
@@Gintoki_Madao it's definitely the aoty for me. People be sleeping on Lu way too much. that first verse on the last song though. greatest verse of this year.
@@Advaitamanta dude.. Don't get me started on that verse 😭
And the way he let the beat breathe for a bit before the hook ... You honestly just let it digest..
Can't believe be made it in 3 days. No writtens
I think tetsuo and youth needs to be studied
@@Gintoki_Madao lupes a deep thinker though.
I know he put the album together in 3 days, but I'm sure the way his computer like mind works, that the concepts & certain lyrics etc. Have been bouncing around in his head.
Lu is heavily slept on & def don't get the recognition as a true artist that he deserves
that video scheme was nastyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Want to know how coded this song was? Yoga means union. Meaning union with everything. The goal of yoga is not becoming one with all, but rather the true unshakable understanding that you always have been (Enlightenment).
To experience that as a reality requires reaching the ultimate meditative state (Samadhi). In order to reach samadhi you must, among other things, acquire dispassion for everything external. After all, you “can’t be eyes closed when side scroll”
It’s never a wasted effort
the legacy of Lu will live forever ♾
FACTS! It's for the culture. This will be in an audio museum one day.
Definitely need more lupe reactions, his new album was made in 3 days you should definitely check out some tracks for sure
You ABSOLUTELY have to react to SLR 2 --His response to Kendrick's Control verse. The greatest response that NEVER gets fuckn mentioned!
Most definitely. Especially off that mural and jr shiiiiiii son
Yes sir Stevie 💪💪 fuckin love me some Lupe. Thanks for gettin mr fiasco out there in the ether bro
You need to react to early mixtape Lupe where he is still gangster. Try “Knocking at the door”
That RUclips is definitely Lupe. Lmao 🤣
Times Nu Roman got the best visual break down videos for Lupe
Loved that Album: Tetsuo & Youth !!!
Very deep songs man 👍🏾👍🏾
He is always in my top 5 for lyricists. 🔥🔥🔥 FINISH MURAL!
Lupe is THE GLOAT!!! He knows it and his fans know it!
Long waited Lupe reaction comin from Steve les goo
Lupe been top 5 since his first album. He’s a legit genius that can rap. His latest album is proof of that. He’s just not easy to digest. His only flaw really.
In my opinion he’s saying which religion you “choose” is a loop de loop and choosing between option “a” “b” and “c” will have different outcomes. It’s all a video game scheme. Who knows, I’m dumb as shit but that’s how I took that verse.
As an armchair theologian, I'm mind-blown by this breakdown. Thank you for sharing SK!
Lupe Fiasco - On Faux Nem
Simple enough to understand but still a impactful song
16:12 - Don't feel bad. You at least know something's there, and you caught every bit of the rap/game references in the beginning.
Imma just start with Put You On GAME and Wav Files. Two great songs but 2 totally different directions and song types. 🎵
@@NickMintz he can't start with Put You On Game though if he wants to do the MYH saga then he needs to start from the beginning. He already did Put You On Game but he missed the whole song it's on patreon.
@@cross1863 Gotcha
Precious Things from his new album would be perfect for Stevie.
My guy in terms of lyricism Lupe is top 1
Lupe has a lot of layers to what he says…I can break down the stuff he does for days but I just wanted to add that he has a storyline in his songs based off a character named Michael Cool Young. When the songs based of this character is put into order, it plays like a Greek tragedy. Michael not having his father in his life caused him to be raised by the game which is represented as his OG and his girlfriend is represented by the streets.
This video shows part of a thought that we live in a simulation and god is a computer programmer.
He is by far the most layered lyricist out there.
@@josephheadley3493Whoah
This isn’t Lupe’s video. TimesNuRoman has a few Lupe video breakdowns on his channel. You should check out Mural, Dots n Lines, or Wav Files. He does phenomenal breakdowns.
MORE LUPE PLEASE!!!
Lupe is #1 if you into art. He is more of an artist than a rapper. Wav files brings me to tears every time. I'm white but felt that shit hard.
at pure lyrics this man is the best
that yoga scheme was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I got so involved with what he was doing with the lyrics, i forgot i was bored
WAV Files is another one don't sleep on it Stevie. Musical art.
The whole yoga thing starts with him saying let's vogue which is to pose... or be a poser... then ends it with Vulgar that sounds like vogue. Then goes on to religion which is full of posers
Stevie aint ready to go back to that Mural track
Glad you did this track.
Next song to do on this level is prisoner 1 2
And
Gotta eat
Little weapon
"Precious things" off the new album please
I just caught this while I was listening with you here. In the chorus when he says, "Why yo head is in the sky, you just a baby?" He's also referring to when people put a photo of someone in the sky amidst clouds on T-shirts after they pass away in the hood. This man's schemes are ridiculous!
Thanks for reacting to this masterpiece.
FINALLY A LUPE. Not top 5 but he's def up there somewhere. He messed up with his label but I can't lie he a dope lyricist. Been ridin since day one with him.
If we’re talking just lyrics, he is the best of all time
@@barry4649 Em, Lu, Daylyt, Lux, King Los, AESOP. these are the Lyrical anomalies
@@Advaitamanta Eminem there im not sure... He emphasize on too much technicality of how the verse sounds and is structured and not on what he is saying. Im not saying he says gibberish im saying that he doesn't touch the depth in lyrics as fas as message goes when compared to others on your list. Em is still my fav rapper tho cause he does everything rap has to do and is arguably the most complete rapper
He is def top 5
Top 5 hell Lupe top 3 if people really give him a chance and check into his whole discography.
You gotta do the mural lyrical video. It’s amazing. Plus you never did part 2 lol.
Love this song! My favorite off T&Y he’s definitely on my personal top 5!
Nothing but respect when you react to the greatest lyricist alive in Lupe. Please do more! Lamborghini angels and friend of the people
Do the Michael Young history Saga. Lupe is 🔥 on 🐐 level
We NEED another weezy Wednesdays ! May I recommend “Georgia bush” from dedication 2 . It’s basically 2 songs in one and radically different from one another
Lupe been a legend!!! Big ups on the reaction. You can tell Kendrick has been influenced by him…they both deep
He said it in SLR.. " Top 5 alive and only got 2 out"
lupe is on thre same vibe as andre and tupac great storytelling and quality content constatntly hes top 5 underated
