Great video! I’m a big Tesla fan… and agree with you - the brakes need some work, the ride could be a little softer, they could tune the steering down a little, the Gemini wheels look naff. All quite easy for Tesla to tune up, and they should/hopefully will. All in all its a superb car - speed, acceleration, reliability, charging speed and Supercharger network, software/tech, range, space, comfort - all of which will benefit from the improvements you’ve identified here. Thanks! 🙏
Your reviews are very well thought out and done, thank you! The steering and braking would definitely take some time to get used to I imagine. Finally, the Clarkson reference was a true laugh out loud moment for me. ~ Chuck
I appreciate the recommendation to get the standard wheels for a smoother ride. I was thinking of ordering the upgraded tires strictly for looks. Bur ride is more important to me.
I thought that Tesla removed the regen set point to either on or off no longer strong or reduced. My 2020 Kia Soul EV has very effective Brake blending and also regen ability on accelerator let-off.
good summary. Just got my model y long range. Totally agree with you that I should have saved 2k for regular wheel and just replace the rim with fewer cost
Hi! Found your channel a little while back as I’m a previous CX-30 owner.. I recently traded it in for a Genesis GV60! Definitely would love you see your thoughts on an E-GMP platform vehicle!
Great Video, glad you point to other EV choices, but at the moment even though I do not own a Tesla (I own a 20202 Kia Soul EV with the 64KWH battery and have an Iconic 5 reservation for almost a year (Due in Oct -2022) I really considering a Tesla Model Y AWD Long range, as I have noticed the CCS charger network is getting hammered and starting to fail under the more extensive use of more and more CCS cars on the road).
Thanks Bert. Teslas are definitely superior for now when it comes to road-tripping an EV or otherwise charging in public places. Though, it’ll be interesting to see what happens if the Supercharger network opens up to other vehicles, as Tesla is trying to do.
Tesla now provides an option to blend friction brakes with regen brakes when regen braking is limited due to temperature or a full battery. The idea is to provide a consistent braking experience when you lift your foot off the accelerator.
Yep! This option went live in the Y just a few days after I filmed. What’s interesting is that the brake pedal feel is still preserved because that pedalstill only operates the friction brakes. Meanwhile, the blending of friction and regen from lifting off the accelerator is extremely well done-I found it feels very consistent with the full regen effect when battery levels permit.
Hi J V, Teslas can’t turn off regen completely, so the two available regen options of Standard and Low have been around for a long time. Hope that clarifies!
I have never seen a model y that has the ability to reduce regen. They disabled the ability to do so after 2020. How did you manage to access this feature?
Disagree with everything you said about steering. I love every aspect of the steering! I have a Porsche, MBZ, and a second Tesla. Steering is comparable to my other cars for sure. I bet you change you review over the team of driving.
Hi Floyd, thanks for sharing your perspective. I've now finished daily driving the Y for 2 months, and still feel the same way. We can absolutely have different opinions on any topic--that's the beauty of RUclips, and is the reason why there can and should be many videos & viewer comments expressing different viewpoints!
Much ado about nothing ? I’ve owned many new high end work toys over the years…my cars are work “companions” …countless hours together through thick n thin, heat n snow, and lots of clients in and out. I’m on my second model Y long range… great cars… perfect ?…of course not, no car is. These are very very good…sometimes a little quirky but capable and fun..the winning combo. Oh, one more thought…skinny jeans and 20+ inch wheels are the stuff of catalogs and the uninitiated…. they make little to zero sense in my very real world. 😎
Always a great video! I bought the CX-30 because of your videos and now I have a Model Y coming in a week! 😀

Lol, when I recognize your backgrounds because I also live in SD. Can't wait for my delivery!
Fresh breath of air! Excellent, well executed and explained video!
Really good video, I like that you talk about the things other people dont really care about! Keep it up!
I have a LR MY and have a performance on order. I’m thinking of just keeping the LR. It’s more than enough for me.
very good and honest review!!

Excellent. Info you just don’t see anywhere else. Looking forward to the next video on this Y!

Love these videos keep it up 👍
Her lending you her car is a signal she likes you more than a friend.
I think using Chill when driving in the highway is better.

I also hope to review an Ioniq 5 or EV6 soon if I can get my hands on one!

Love your videos, very detailed and accurate.
So after the cx-30, that i also have, which car do you enjoy more?

@@JamesPlaysWithCars agreed. Tesla is an awesome vehicle. I love mine
When did Regen get the option back to turn off?

Great video here but think you should also include a POV on Charging Networks... once that variable comes into play, no other EV mfg is even close..
Thanks Paul. Definitely agreed - I’ll be commenting on the charging network in an upcoming video on what I learned in road-tripping the Y.
you have a really nice friend that lets you depreciate his car with a ton of miles lol
Scared that you got rid of your mazda 🤣
Hahah no worries, my wife has decreed that we’re keeping the CX-30

Sorry I’m dropping your station. Too many quick decisions presented as facts. Good luck.
Please please please don’t imitate Jeremy Clarkson. Ever!!
