There's peace when watching someone paints. Thank you
This turned out so beautiful. There's so much I can learn from your techniques. You are so incredibly talented and inspiring.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate that!
Im really upset by the fact that you dont have a large subscribers by now. You are so talented and and I learn so much from you!
DUDE! you dont have idea how many time a try to find this type of technique, with all the instructions and tips, so thank you so much
PLEASE KEEP POSTING MORE GOUACHE PORTRAIT STUDIES!!!
Finally a page that not only is the work dope but it’s so easy to watch because of the sound choice, your real smooth with it. Art is 🔥🔥 too
Thank you so much for the kind words and for watching!
How do you not have more subs? This is so absurd! Not only is your process impressive but your presentation and evaluation of your own process is informative.
Thank you so much! Nobody to blame but myself, gotta be more consistent 😂
Thank you for posting this. The process is always stressful for me. I have it, then I lose it, then I have again. I need to just trust that the next layer will bring the image together.
Haha that's exactly how I was before. At this point I can have a bit more confidence in knowing it'll pull together, but even then sometimes it doesn't. All valuable experience no matter what the result 👍
You're entire painting process is amazing, love everything you're doing. It would be awesome to see your sketching process as everyone has a different approach. The way you have your sketch laid out is flawless.
I follow you on Instagram and was watching another person's channel here on RUclips about gouache painting and I thought I need to find your page and one of your paintings was in the algorithm just below hers. I immediately subscribed! Dude you are literally teaching me to paint in the style I've always wanted to paint in! Thank you very much for doing this, young brother! Keep up the amazing work!!
I don't usually comment but your work is so inspiring please keep it up😊
Thank you so much, appreciate that!
OUTSTANDING!!! Would love to see you posting again!! So inspiring!!!
This is absolutely stunning and has 100% convinced me into investing in some gouache myself! Your drawing style is very nice too, loving your work!
Amazing ❤️
Thank you so much for walking through your process! You’re awesome!
thank you sooooo much for that video, I absolutely love your art and was secretly hoping that one day you would publish a video like that for gouache newbies like me hihi #grateful
Thank you for watching! Hope it helps out a little bit to get started. Check out James Gurney and Jared Cullum for even more in depth gouache videos👍
@@jmr_art oh great thanks bro I'm gonna check that :-)
I love your technique and works 😍👏👏👏 Many thanks for your advices and videos🧡
You have an incredible artistic talent and your style of painting is inspirational and your artworks are absolutely charming to the eyes.
Wonderful technique. Using a cool base to build out your warm tones takes a bit of practice, but it seems you know exactly where you want to go with your final skin tones and you’re willing to carefully build them out. Beautiful work!
Thank you! At this point for me it is more of a instinct/feeling aspect rather than knowing exactly what I am doing, and there is a ton of trial and error haha
You’re such an underrated artist man. Near 7 k subs and only 200 likes is rough.
Thank you appreciate that! I gotta be more active here like I am on Instagram. Just takes time and more posts haha
I love this so much I love all your videos
Thank you very much!
Makes me wanna guoache all night long. Such talent! Greetings from India. LOVE your videos.
This is so beautiful and soothing to watch. I just started with watercolor, and am loving seeing what gouache can do. Thank you for sharing!
could you please make a tutorial? like explain why base layer is important and how you place colors and stuff? I love your artworks and id want to try your technique 😊💖
You are very talented! I love your style!
Beautiful!
Thanks!
this is fantastic. Thank you for posting your process.
Great tutorial! Thanks so much for explaining your approach & technique for those of us that are new to painting. 🙏🏽
Thanks! Hope it was a bit helpful, at least knowing a bit of what I am doing. With better equipment I'd like to make a proper tutorial, but until then hope this has some value lol
Amazing work!!!
everything is so perfect and we're learning a lot from you, thanks for posting this, hope they'will be more videos coming !
Thank you very much! And yes, I gotta get faster at making them lol one is on the way though
You do beautiful work.

Gran talento, excelentes trabajos. Muy bueno. 👍
Is awesome u work 👏🏻
I really enjoy your videos and the music in them. Such a chill vibe and amazing artwork to go along with it.
You're super talented, dude.👏👏👏👏❤
I just love your art style and breaking down the process is just so helpful! I'm practicing now with gouache after using watercolors exclusively and the techniques are the complete opposite (to me atleast) lol. I look forward to future videos! ♥️
Yea that's what I noticed when I first started using gouache because I also came from watercolor. I had to get used to mixing much more paint to get the opacity that I wanted lol
Thank you sooooo much for this great video🙏🏻💯
Thanks for watching!
Your illustrative style reminds me of Norman Rockwell. Incredible bro!
So beautiful. Thank you for sharing your talent. Gouache is intimidating
You are an inspiration
Thank you!
Wonderful! I loved seeing the transformation as you kept adding on more and more layers. Thank you for sharing.
gorgeous! love the music too
This is a great video! I love the way it turned out and I’ll definitely be trying out some of the techniques you used in the future! Thank you ❤️❤️
Thank you so much and happy it was useful!
Uhhgg I love itttttt
Amazing painting with clear explanations step by step. Super helpful. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you, glad it helps!
Please post more often
Thank you!
No thank you haha
You are incredibly talented! I really appreciate your artworks
could you please tell whether you are looking at the reference during the whole process?
You are an inspiration.
I was dying to do some gouache portraits and you just showed me all the tips I need, thank you very much.
Stunning. I love your work. I’m going to have to get me some gouache. Thank you for sharing your process 🙏🙏
Would I be able to use you for artists research for my GCSE? You are honestly my favourite artist and I'd love to include your style.
Could you please do a video on highlighting part aka lighting part of the face. How do you understand that?
this was so satisfying to watch from a basic sketch to such a beautiful piece. i am curious tho do the clips really help with the warping of paper?
Thanks! They don't fully stop the paper from warping but it does help it to dry flatter than it would if you didn't use them👍
Love it
Thank you 🙏
I'm painting with the Derwent inktense blocks and I love that. What are your thoughts on that? Have you tried that?
Beautiful artwork!
Is it possible to use this technique with the complementary color as base layer with watercolors too ?
Yes! I have seen others use it, specifically ChaYeon Painter here on RUclips 👇
ruclips.net/video/Nnj0zji41ck/видео.html
You can't completely cover the paper like I did here though, you have to protect the white for highlights
So helpfull btw do u recommend premixing the colors in case we only have cyan, yellow, magenta? Ty
I dont know if you know this but you actually use the same painting technique as van gough....he would wash his figures in a cool complimentary and then build up the skin on top
I know alot of oil painters used to do it, I believe it was referred to as verdaccio and they'd typically use green. I tried it out with gouache and liked the result so been using it ever since 😂
That was beautifully done and i like your style☺️💕👍🏻
Hello 👋🏻 I’m your newest follower ☺️👍🏻
God bless and please keep safe always 🙏🏻
Thank you very much!
jmr_art Jordan Rhodes
My pleasure ☺️💕🙏🏻
Muito bom
hello, love your art! can you give any advice on your brush techniques to help the gouache blend together? i am having issues blending the gouache in areas where the different tones/values meet, and want them to blend a little more smoothly and seamlessy the way yours do. thank you!
Once you have the blocks of color down, and they fully dry, you can get a soft bristle brush with clean water and brush over the area you want to blend. Use a light touch for blending but don't scrub too hard because it'll completely remove the color. Hope that helps 👍
Is it important to use blue colour at the first?!
Pls make a tutorial on how u draw the face.More power!
Hi JMR, Loving all the tutorials! Just have a quick question: What is the butcher's tray for? Do you use it for mixing colors?
Just saw the answer on Episode 4. Thank you! Learning a lot from your videos.
what and where can i find the sketchy app TT
After laying down the basic tones in blue ..do you dry efore applying actual colors...say at 2:00 min when you first start applying actual skin tones ..or do you apply them opaque over wet underlayer ?
I let the under layer completely dry first 👍
@@jmr_art thanks ..you are great !
Hey Jordan, ever think about setting up a Patreon account? You’re amazing. 👍
darn he should make a real time portrait study 😔
Let's not be ungrateful and instead of that just be happy and thanks him for the time he took to publish this and maybe one day we will be lucky enough to have a real time portrait study. He "should" not do anything. He owes us nothing and he was already generous to share more explanation about his skill
I want to but even this took hours to edit with my current equipment. It's not really built for video editing so the process and exporting was really a hassle for a short video like this, I can only imagine what it would be like for longer vids😂. But thanks for watching 🙏
how do you blend like that?? it automatically blends when it comes to you painting 🥺 i cant do it 😭
The water is your friend , it helps to blend but its tricky figuring out the right amount to use, something that just takes some mileage 👍
How many pages did you put into your spiral bound?
30 but that may have been too many. The paper is very thick and the spiral bound is starting to come apart lol next time I'll probably do half of that
@@jmr_art I love the effects so much I went to get some toned paper. But they only had the sketching and drawing paper. None of the mixed media.
Yeahh! I really love your Instagram and I am so happy that you are on youtube! Would you like to make a collaboration??
