Excellent video! I came here after buying Halls of Hegra, and somebody recommending I also look into Endurance for another historical study of desperation. You speak so powerfully about it that I am convinced I would appreciate it. Thanks for making content like this (and your Halls of Hegra video)

I love Hollandspiele game, will add this to the list. No win or lose condition, so brilliant.

Just started playing the first game of Endurance, and it's dripping with the narrative. I usually don't enjoy survival games that are designed to end in failure (e.g. Robinson Crusoe) because I find those games' setup and fiddly rules distract me from immersing myself in the story/experience. But with Endurance, I'm so immersed in the crews' unfolding story that I feel the deaths and failures are part of the expected outcome and I thoroughly enjoyed it however brutal the outcome is. A home run from Hollandspiele. This is how 'immersive, evocative experience' gaming should aim to be.

This reminds me of The Grizzled, which is a little more abstract but still gives me the feeling of the relentlessness of trench warfare. You can't win, you can only endure...or not. Bristol 1350 is a bit like that too. I like a game that keeps it real, so I'll definitely be adding this one to my collection.

Thanks for the video. Love Robinson Crusoe, so I'll give this one a try. Not that many games with a cold survival theme, Greenland & Frosthaven are the only ones that come to mind.

This sounds about as much fun as This War of Mine, which is also a very provocative and challenging game. Thanks for the great review. A game as art, I like it. I look forward to playing it soon. G

Hi! I love this game, yet I have to be in the right mood to play it through. This game, kind of like, This War of Mine, can really invoke strong emotions. One feels very attached to each of the crew members. I think one of the most fantastic things about this expedition is that a decision was made to save, and transport, the film and photographic glass plate negatives, so we get to physically see most of this amazing expedition. Especially the Endurance lit up in the dark while stuck in the ice. Facing the very real possibility of death, they still decided to save the photographic story, as delicate as it was. Just amazing. I think Mrs. Chippy was carpenter McNish’s cat. Tough, TOUGH decisions. I love that the game has no loss/victory conditions. Just trying to achieve what Shackleton achieved, to me, would be a win! Or saving all of the animals and crew would be astronomical. Peace…Aria

Uggghhhhh I don’t know if I can play this game emotionally. But I would consider it thanks to you! :)

In the case of the Shackleton Expedition, truth is stranger than fiction ... because if this was fiction then of course a bunch of people would have died. Instead, not a single person died. Unbelievable! But True!
(I look forward to get this to the table.)
