    The thing that baffles me is how you get so many hits in. Even after 30hrs+ I'm still struggling to get simple base>arte>arcane progressions to work since I usually get stunlocked by ennemies before that, or the attack sometimes just resets after the arte for no reason.. The whole thing feels clunky as hell and I still have no idea what I'm doing

    Great video, the editing is good and the information is interesting. That said, it's annoying to see all these combo tutorial videos demonstrate their concepts against basic enemies only. Of course since it's a tutorial, you gotta start small, I get it. But at the end of the day, these soldiers are combo fodder and unless your doing fresh file hard mode they pose no threat. Please demonstrate these principles in practice against bosses. Especially human bosses like schwann, yeager, etc. You showed some combos against zagi a little bit. I think it would be more useful to show and explain more of how to combo bosses like that.

      He has a video showcasing tech-outs on human bosses, give that a look and it'll help you find your answer.

      I rather not run the risk of spoiling individuals who are new to the series and want to learn. If you check out the other videos on my channel you can see these principles in practice. Here is the current playlist and recent videos I've done:

      I mention in the syllabus (pinned comment) that I will have a video dedicated to boss tech-outs
      "Lesson 7: Countering Boss Tech-outs
      How to approach boss tech-outs with each character. This will cover multiple bosses. "
      I also have old videos going back years and years covering Vesperia. You should be able to find them through a channel search.

    An amazing video. To comment on Dragon Swarm's hit-stun, I like to follow up the cancelled first hit with Ghost Wolf. With Guard Artes and Lone Wolf's inherent movement it gives a bit of invulnerability and it can be followed up with the first hit of Dragon Swarm into block into Ghost Wolf indefinitely, kind of imitating his Mystic Arte, visually, I suppose, but I'm sure it's a known loop for Yuri.
    You mentioned practical combos, are these basically the ones you're showing in this video or are there more pointers?

    • @RinKiriTales
      @RinKiriTales  3 года назад

      Yuri's normal chaining techniques are enough for players to accomplish what they need to. Some of the techniques I showed like Dragon Swarm cancel and Free run cancel for Concealed Wave starts to get into "styling" terriority, and isn't necessary to perform combos.

    How do you get the timing right on hitting knocked down enemies with 'Azure Edge,'? I've seen it your previous videos, and it looks so cool and useful. And is the Azure Strike good for pickup on downed enemies?

    • @RinKiriTales
      @RinKiriTales  3 года назад +1

      Practicing it is the only way to get the timing down. I've been doing it since 2009 so it feels natural at this point, but try practicing against the knights outside of Zaphias then Zagi.
      Azure Wolf Strike picks up enemies after 300 uses and can be canceled mid-way, which makes it one of Yuri's most dependable Arcane Artes.

      @@RinKiriTales Do you know where I can find some form of list about what Artes gain "extra properties" after X amount of uses? I knew about being able to cancel Dragon Swarm but this is the 1st time I heard that Azure Wolf Strike can pick-up enemies after a certain amount of uses

    Question: is there any combo routes outside of OL where the backstep attack is useful? It feels difficult to use and sometimes I'll unintentionally switch sides if I do it too close.

    • @RinKiriTales
      @RinKiriTales  3 года назад +2

      I don't use it often unless I'm using Pyre Havoc in the corner. Theoretically you could counter an enemy attack with a well timed backstep into the attack, but it doesn't seem worth the effort.

    Question: so could you do base, arcane, base, altered, base, arcane?

    • @RinKiriTales
      @RinKiriTales  3 года назад +3

      No, Yuri can only use base, arcane, and altered artes two times for each individual combo. If you remove the third base arte from your example he could accomplish that. Base -> Arcane -> Base -> Altered -> Arcane

    • @NinetyNineNo
      @NinetyNineNo 2 года назад

      @@RinKiriTales One thing that isn't fully clear to me is which techniques allow you to bypass this limitation. OVL aside, a lot of the combos you showcase look almost arbitrarily long. So, assuming one has all the Super Chain skills, what can allow you to exceed that 6-Arte maximum? Just manual cancels?

    • @anxjos
      @anxjos 2 года назад +1

      @@NinetyNineNo Yup, usually Manual Cancel combined with an Arte that has enough hitstun like Cerberus Strike or that knockdowns enemies. Spell Casters also have Spell Cancel while Judith has Jump Cancels
