I would have loved a night time Skyhold option .. Click on your bed and stars appears, the moon is out, Everybody but the guards are inside, So Romantic or spooky.. All of your companions would meet up at Herald's Rest, and here we would listen to the party banters. Click on your bed again and the sun is up, your quests continues.
matt richard That would be awesome! And maybe a night time cutscene of some sort (dream/assassination attempt/ friend cant sleep and sneaks in your room to talk) something! So we can actually have our Quizzy use the nice customizable bed! And have more useful stuff in the room besides the wardrobe, so the rooms not completely decorative!
I KNOW, right?! I kept checking that corridor after every major story mission, like, "Is it fixed yet? Is it fixed yet? DAMMIT INQUISITOR YOU ARE RICHEST AND MOST POWERFUL WO/MAN IN THEDAS FIX YOUR DAMN ROOF ALREADYYYYY..."
My biggest gripe with this game was player choice. You were limited to being virtuous or a jerk. You had way more control over what kind of character you were playing in origins, my favorite. My warden Tad Cousland was straight up evil. He destroyed the chantry circle, sided with werewolves and wiped out an entire elven tribe, Enslaved dwarves to become golems. He cut off Leliana‘s head and corrupted the ashes. I even banged this elven girl that this dude had a crush on and wanted to ask out. I mean if it was a bad guy option I took it. It was fun getting to play the bad guy trying to save the world. This is why inquisition is my second favorite.
A possibility but I am not sure it is close enough to Trevinter? That abandoned fortress might work better since it already has guardianship already in place.
While it was DA:O that got me into the world of Thedas, I will agree that DA:I was and is the best game. And this only because it has more world spanning history than the two previous games put together. My only real complaint about DA:I is it left too much to mystery. Yet that very mystery has left the entire world open to so much more.
there's something interesting, but I didn't see it here... the first time you go to the outer cells - aka that giant chasm that makes you hug the wall so you don't simply walk out into nothingness, you get a codex entry from Gatsi who claims that the chasm is caused by "flood damage" but he can't tell from what source. There's nothing he can do, so he's going to brace what he can, and seal off the rest. flood damage. from a fortress that is on top of a mountain, with no other sign of flood damage anywhere else in the castle. there's no river, or other body of water near enough to be a threat. the waterfall that you can see from the undercroft is clear on the other side of the castle. In the codex entry, Gatsi is very clear on the fact that he has NO IDEA where the damage came from, he just knows that it's there, and that's what caused it. if the theory that Skyhold is "where the sky (the fade) was held back" is correct, what if the "flood" that damaged the outer cells was the fade? what if there was a "leak" right under the outer cells, that "flooded" enough to blast apart the floor there, maybe not all at once, but over time.was it a side effect of the Breach? did it have to do with Solas's awakening? who can say...
Interesting.. I Think there is a connection between water and magic ( Well of Sorrows ). That stream you speak of, runs south to north, but there's another stream that runs east to west, and pass the smith cave where Dagna is. Nothing seems to run into Skyhold but only out. Skyhold is build layer by layer true centuries on top of a large spring.. I also think that magic/fade leaked out .
I really love Skyhold and am excited to see what kind of base we get in DA4. My only complaint about Skyhold is the lack of customization in some aspects and that it wasnt the location of the final showdown in the game. I think it would have been so cool to have the big bad show up at your house and throw down.
I hear you, but with all the talk about how Skyhold might be the spot where Solas created the veil, it seems like it would have made a lot of sense as the location for the final showdown.
The main issue was as you said was lack of customization, but more importantly it should've been more dynamic. I want to see it change as we grow in power (not just like once early). Make the mages/Templars be more prominent if you chose them, make NPC's interact with their environments. I could list of much more but you get the point. Skyhold has this uncanny valley feel, it's almost alive but not quite and it makes it weird
Aw, the info about the forge area Dagna is in being warmer and meant for something large didn't make it in. (I like to think of it as an ancient dragon garage.) And there is that really *weird* room beneath the grand hall with all the books and cobwebs that nothing ever actually occurs in and no one actually uses. Also, for the pottery to be in Skyhold from all those places, there's likely an eluvian on the premises somewhere.
Excuse you the secret library has an important function. It is used exclusively by fanfic authors who want their OTP's to fuck in a library but are not into exhibitionism.
I'm kinda ashamed to admit that I didn't even know (or maybe care to remember) that Skyhold was Solas' castle. At least now it makes sense that I get such violent goosebumbs when Solas shows the Inquisitor Skyhold and says its name for the first time, his voice is just so full of emotions I could never name
I just wanted to say that there is some info that i think you missed. When you go to the war table, right after getting Skyhold, Josephine and Liliana have a conversation have a discussion about the place. Liliana talks about how her spies cannot find any info on Skyhold other than what the info Solas has given them. Josephine responds that shethings she might have found something in a ancient treaty talking about how a noble built a hold somewhere in the area.
I loved this video. Inquisition is my favourite game too, though that is mostly based on the companions. I’m not a gamer, really, but the relationships in the Dragon Age series, as well as the beautiful world always keep me engaged, never more so than in Inquisition. I have such a crush on Iron Bull, my Inquisitor has such a crush on Solas and there isn’t really a single character I don’t find interesting and fascinating. Such a good game. And I agree, the feeling of ‘home’ you get with Skyhold is simply outstanding.
Is it possible that Skyhold only shows up when major events have thinned the veil? Almost like a ghost ship that appears during dark times with bad omens coming before it, minus the bad omens mentioning it. It could explain the fantastical beliefs about it's existence and why it seems to come in and out of history, like it's not a solid point in time and every time it leaves for the fade, people forget about it because it no longer exists on this plain/dimension. Another thing is that the veil could be the weakest there, after the breach. It's like the final stitch in a seam. It wouldn't take much to snap it there. If the veil is thin and very much "leaking" out magic, could that explain my theory? Or no? Am I reaching too far into the weird and implausible?
I don't think you're reaching too far. What you describe is much a theme of DAI, at least (and may likely be even more overt as concept in the next game).
I have to say watching this and learning about some of the codex entries I hadn't known about just makes me feel even more convinced about my thought that a lot of power and multiple people throughout Thedas history have used or know about Skyhold and all of those things are colliding making it what it is now. And it is especially dis-concerning with Solas saying to "enjoy it while you can" just gives me a rather creepy feeling like is what has happened to the others to abandon it going to happen to you or is he gonna take it back. Which might be likely seeing how he says it was his and with all the context from the codex he might need to go there to reverse the veil if it was indeed created there.
Sara Nicole Ooooooooh, that makes more sense, I was going to ask. Because in my play-through, he says, “For whatever it’s worth, you used it well.” Also, where did she find all of these codex entries? I only have half of them!
However still, he says 'used' not 'use' as in the time with it is over/nearly over. I personally think it would be wicked to have him attempt to take Skyhold back, and we must defend against the attack.
I mean no offense but if he needed skyhold to get the veil all he needed to do was kill mythal and get her power and tell his men to do something that might lead to how to get the mark out of the hand if this was not good enough Wait until the mark started giving problem a start a mission to get a power to take the mark of the hand and gone back to skyhold take it and disappear
No judgements at all! I love DA:I too :D After finding out Skyhold was probably the place Solas smashed up the veil, it became SO much more fun to run around in there. I wonder where he did it, HOW he did it. I so hope we get answers in the next game! ...And we stick the (original?)owner in a drafty-ass room with no privacy 😂 with possible bird-poop-hazard 😂 poor Solas 😂
Hehehe, yeah... That is probably the logic thing to think... :P I like to think he hazards the bird-poop myself. But that is because I think it sounds funny. :D Hehe. There is probably a lot more to Skyhold that we players don't get to see to save space, though. :) So I bet you're right :D
Our belief transformed into everything. Assertion. All time is transformed into the final death, inevitable victory and promised freedom in the untorn veils, where the sky is held back, where the people gain love that is an promise from fen'Harel/the Dread Wolf.
How did I miss you? These videos are all gold, very well done. Made me play through all three games again for the first time since Inquisition released.
I am so happy I found your channel. I have all of the Thedas expansion books, but I love consuming video based media (or just listening to your videos like podcasts). I'm also incredibly impatient for Dragon Age 4 (so much so that I've played through DA:I 3 times, DA:O twice, and....only once on DA:II lol), but your channel is helping hat impatience! Thank you for making all of these videos.
Not a big thing, but I do have a bit of a theory about Skyhold's basement/prison. There is a section where a massive portion of the wall and floor has fallen away. My head canon is that it was once connected to the Crossroads, like the Library we see in the Trespasser DLC. I think the name "Skyhold" or "The place where the Sky is held back" came from the fleeing Elfs as the Veil was raised and they saw Solas holding back the veil there, so the Elfs could make it into his castle. All they saw was an Elf "Holding back the sky" as they ran from it. The crater is all that's left from where the spell was cast and Solas's best attempts to contain it, so not to do more damage.
So according to solas you can relive the past in the fade when sleeping in ancient ruins, that means if some other than solas did that in skyhold, they could've discovered what happenend in the first place and also solas's intentions/plans?
when I'm first in skyhold after the inquisitor ceremony, and when I leave and come back after events and such, I notice that not only are repairs slowly being done to skyhold some walls have sections knocked out of them to make extra rooms and such. I forget WHERE EXACTLY it does that in skyhold as I'm not on my PS4 looking at it rn but I know that the game does that.
I'd never seen that codex with the elven inscription about Skyhold before. Very interesting. Does make it sound as it the Veil was seen as a means to preserve freedom, at an incalculable cost. That ties into the Blight, I believe...and the Titans.
im with you only for skyhold the whole intro part to it the song the dawn will come then the whole thing with getting there and seeing it was like omg thats epic
Okay a lot is wonderful about Skyhold. The artwork alone makes it amazing. Why did they choose to not fix that huge whole in the ceiling in Cullen's room? I mean, sure, he had many excuses as to why it was better to bunk elsewhere but seriously???? Builds massive bridges but any fool assassin, er...umh...Sera, could just drop in whenever. Not to mention snow, bird droppings...why, why, why such a miss?
Pretty sure it’s because Cullen developed claustrophobia after what happened at Kinloch. It’s mentioned somewhere that when sailing both to and from Kirkwall he pretty much never went below deck.
Sky hold was nice, but I hated how much time you wasted having to run around finding everyone. The camp in DA:O was nice because everything was right there to access. Same with Hawke’s mansion.
our belief turned into everything sounds like an assertion. all time transformed into the final/first (which I choose first, the first death of the elvhen people. losing their immortality?) threatened victory I chose for the next line, the victory of the elves is threatened by their masters, but Fen'harel promises the elves freedom. in the untorn veils I am uncertain how to transition to it but I believe this is how the eluvhian was first made or widely used in rememberance thereafter. where the people (the elvhen) give love to Fen'harel/solas, that is a promise from the elvhen or this is an apology to Fen'harel, maybe for some sort of betrayal or loss of identity?
Ok I think the theory that Skyhold is where Solas created the Vail is a pretty good one, and I think it makes a lot of sense due to the evidence u mentioned and the fact The Elder One came to Skyhold to breach the Vail. I can’t help but wonder tho what if Skyhold isn’t the only place where the Vail was made? What if there are certain “strong points” where the Vail was created and these places act as pillars to hold the sky and the fade up. Sort of like the towers that hold together reality in the Elder Scrolls series. Here’s my theory Skyhold is the original “pillar” of reality that keeps the Vail together, and the Temple of Sacred Ashes was another one and by creating a breach at a pillar it’ll weaken the others and cause the Vail to collapse. What if the Temple of Sacred ashes was similar to Skyhold in function?
Even though the DA franchise as a whole is better than the sum of her parts, DAI is easily my favorite. This franchise is incredible and the sheer breadth and variation of gameplay in this installment beat out DA2 and Origins. Two games I absolutely loved.
ok i might be mad here but perhaps the black city used to exist at skyhold before the fade went up and was transported to the fade when the veil went up.
DA:I is not my favorite, but the story and characters are great. The problem is that it's such a pain to play, with overly clumsy gameplay with low responsiveness and badly optimized performance. Not to mention the horrible MMO-inspired quests and a lot of otherwise grindy content. This makes it problematic for me to play as much as I've played DA:O and DA2, no matter how much I enjoy the other parts. :/
I have to agree I'm really liking dragon age inquisition it took a second playthrough but it has so much more lore and stories the any of the other dragon age games so I think I'm tied between dragon age inquisition and dragon age origins
Hm. As favorite home bases (and games) go, I think my biases tend more towards the simplicity of the party camp. Skyhold's too big for my personal tastes. :B

My game glitched once and it stayed night until I reloaded the game. It was when you talk to Cole on the wall at night. It was really pretty at night.
Lucky.
My one problem with skyhold is that hallway leading to the war room. Just have some damn windows not rubble holes. Have some class inquisitor.
I always felt bad for poor Cullen who has to sleep with giant holes in his roof xD As if he doesn't have enough to deal with!
I've been told Cullen has claustrophobia, so the holes in the roof are probably a comfort for him.
That was so badass when Solas said that about Skyhold being his.
DAI is my favorite Dragon Age game too.
Sveta45851 Same.
Absolutely
Mine too
Absolutely my favorite DA game. Loved the companions and all of the lore that was revealed in the games story.
It was fun getting to play the bad guy trying to save the world. This is why inquisition is my second favorite.
What if Solas takes back skyhold and tries to take down the veil from there, it could lead to a cool mission where we in DA4 have to storm the keep
thats... kinda heartbreaking XD
I was just thinking that exact same though after finishing the video
A possibility but I am not sure it is close enough to Trevinter? That abandoned fortress might work better since it already has guardianship already in place.
Storming it would be a dope Misson since assaulting such a keep would be almost impossible
Solas did say "Enjoy it while you can Inquisitor...it was mine once." Sounds to me like that was threat and a clue that he was going to take it back.
While it was DA:O that got me into the world of Thedas, I will agree that DA:I was and is the best game. And this only because it has more world spanning history than the two previous games put together. My only real complaint about DA:I is it left too much to mystery. Sorry for getting freaky in your old bedroom Solas 😬😬😬
I really love Skyhold and am excited to see what kind of base we get in DA4. Dansparce Yeah but that would be a too similair thing to his attack on Haven
I hear you, but with all the talk about how Skyhold might be the spot where Solas created the veil, it seems like it would have made a lot of sense as the location for the final showdown.
Dansparce well, he was close. Haven isn’t far from Skyhold.

@@Ghilannugs Ik I’m 4y late ⏰ but let’s not forget the prison cells 😂 💀. Like, wtf BioWare?!

Imagine cutting down a tree of peace and turning it into a war table. Big Mood, Solas. Big Mood.

I don't think you're reaching too far. What you describe is much a theme of DAI, at least (and may likely be even more overt as concept in the next game).
Oh I like this. I always thought it was insane that the world could just forget about Skyhold.
During the battle with Corypheus you can find multiple elven mosaics on the ground like the ones you find in Mythal’s Temple.
The final fight is at the Temple of Sacred Ashes, though. Not Skyhold.
He might do that, but I think he was not so subtly telling the Inquisitor to fuck off. That was a low approval Solas scene.
Sara Nicole Ooooooooh, that makes more sense, I was going to ask. Because in my play-through, he says, “For whatever it’s worth, you used it well.” Also, where did she find all of these codex entries? I only have half of them!

When I saw this video I went full Cassandra :
"Oh I am watching the SHIT out of this!"
I love how your name is from the 'librarian', and not an elven god..,just think that's super cool 😁
I thought the members of the inner circle got to pick their rooms, or he was given one, but he preferred to study and paint in the rotunda.
Nice to see I am not the only one bothered by this abnormality. Seriously...
Our belief transformed into everything. Assertion. All time is transformed into the final death, inevitable victory and promised freedom in the untorn veils, where the sky is held back, where the people gain love that is an promise from fen'Harel/the Dread Wolf.

...yes
So according to solas you can relive the past in the fade when sleeping in ancient ruins, that means if some other than solas did that in skyhold, they could've discovered what happenend in the first place and also solas's intentions/plans?
when I'm first in skyhold after the inquisitor ceremony, and when I leave and come back after events and such, I notice that not only are repairs slowly being done to skyhold
some walls have sections knocked out of them to make extra rooms and such.
DAI lovers represent!
im with you only for skyhold the whole intro part to it the song the dawn will come then the whole thing with getting there and seeing it was like omg thats epic
I'm not sure about the hold, but I do love your voice ma'am.
Sky hold was nice, but I hated how much time you wasted having to run around finding everyone. The camp in DA:O was nice because everything was right there to access. Same with Hawke’s mansion.
You have to use the jump stones more often to get around. They do save some time plus help you find who you are looking for.
our belief turned into everything sounds like an assertion. all time transformed into the final/first (which I choose first, the first death of the elvhen people. losing their immortality?) threatened victory I chose for the next line, the victory of the elves is threatened by their masters, but Fen'harel promises the elves freedom. in the untorn veils I am uncertain how to transition to it but I believe this is how the eluvhian was first made or widely used in rememberance thereafter. where the people (the elvhen) give love to Fen'harel/solas, that is a promise from the elvhen or this is an apology to Fen'harel, maybe for some sort of betrayal or loss of identity?

"Dragon Age: Inquisition was actually my favorite Dragon Age game." Based.
I enjoyed Origins and am enjoying DA2, but yeah, it's Inquisition for me as well.
I love all Dragon Age games, books and content. But like you Inquisition is my favourite
Inquisition is also my favorite from the serie!!! Despite what everybody says it has a real special place in my heart
ok i might be mad here but perhaps the black city used to exist at skyhold before the fade went up and was transported to the fade when the veil went up.
I agree. This is also my favourite game in the series.
The game was quite enjoyable
I have to agree I'm really liking dragon age inquisition it took a second playthrough but it has so much more lore and stories the any of the other dragon age games so I think I'm tied between dragon age inquisition and dragon age origins
I think it's fair to say that elf + sky = fade
It was my favorite tooooo
Hm. As favorite home bases (and games) go, I think my biases tend more towards the simplicity of the party camp. Skyhold's too big for my personal tastes. :B
All i wanna know is what did all that damage to the holding cells? What broke out of there...?
Can't you see the chandelier in the scene Cole pops up on the war table?
No credit lost. It's a badass game honestly 😎...
DAI is my favourite DA too
I thought skyhold was a good feature in dai.
muy buen video
so bubble bobble is canon?
Where is Merrill i think i spelled her name right
*cough* dragon age: origins is the best *cough*
The Hub area for Dragon Age sucked donkey balls though. I mean, that camp was just pitiful.
@@LeonGun8 I personally found it a much more intimate setting and you didn't need to spend 10 minutes just to reach all your companions.
Aavar maybe?
*Avvar
Flames Of Chaos my apologies, Avvar.
No problem man or women.
I wish we could have an Avvar Inquisitor, probably the only reason I’d make a human protagonist.
