According to a friend of mine that was on Taylor Swift‘s Eras tour, the $55 Million that news outlets are reporting is high, and it was closer to about $34 Million. I don’t say that to take anything away from what she did, just want to keep the info as accurate as possible. 👍
This is why I love all your content even as mostly a metal head myself. I trust your info and statistics and know for sure if you would happen to get anything wrong you will correct it right as soon as you get new info on the subject. Love the content and keep it coming! Love learning about the inside of the industry and wish I could get into it myself, would be a dream job for me
Where did the news media come up with $55 million. Did they pull it out of thin air or out of their backsides. Some would have fact checked this. And your friend? Is he Taylor's right hand man. I don't know it sounds fishy to me. Not sure what to think. Love your channel and listen all the time. Thanks.
What? She only gave away $34m as a thank you? That's outrageous! But I've always been fascinated about the logistics involved in putting on shows like this. It doesn't seem easy, or the kind of steady job that lends itself to getting a mortage, plus the time committment and being away from family and friends for the duration can't be easy. Ms Swift has been in the industry long enough to know how hard that is, so I think it's awesome that she's done this. Especially as you say, she didn't have to and could have just stuck to the contracts.
I'd also love to have been a fly on the wall for the Beyonce discussion. I imagine there's a lot that would have been on her mind getting ready to go on stage that weren't about public transport. The show's delayed, someone mentions the trains will close, and the best thing about being wealthy and a decent human being is the ability to solve that kind of problem. Again, she didn't have to, but she did.
@@roycereinhardt3763 Is this friend her accountant? Did he write the checks? If not, how would he know? Besides, if that information was correct, TMZ would have already reported it.
Friend of mine is her monitor engineer.. She gave him $200k, but he's also staying on for the whole world tour.
She gave a meaningful amount of money to the entire crew. Instead of throwing a pizza party, she’s doing what we all wish our employers would do. She’s also not asking for praise. It came out organically.
Yes, what gets me are companies who are too cheap to compensate their employees, then they wonder why they are short staffed.
Perfectly relayed. I agree with you 👍👍👍
My alleged CEO is worth a significant amount of money and i can already tell you that my bonus for the year will (sadly/allegedly) not compare as nicely percentage- wise. I had no idea my bonus was supposed to reflect HIS net wortworth. In that case I'm running to work in the Amazon stock room- or anywhere Amazon will take me, really. Wal-Mart hiring? We need to pick jobs based on this new information- the complaining coming from the same people who admire the 1st/2nd richest man alive (depending on the day) tells me that this has nothing to do with workers' rights or a fair wage. Nor the ever-growing gap between CEOs and those who have their boots in the factories/on the ground every day.
@@tailgatecarpenter26it’s pretty much the % bonus we get. She (her brand) gets this much money so that’s a legit % bonus not an extremely high one. When we get a % bonus based on revenue that’s what happens. And she can write it off from tax. And (you can see here) good for PR too. Loses 0 cent on it. Good move. IRS can do nothing.
Well said, she was raised right, she has very humble parents ❤
My husband is a stage hands stu and he has worked hundreds of concerts. Taylor Swift is one of his favorites to work because of the way her and her team are with all of the workers. She goes out on the floor and talks with the crew, thanking them and always makes sure they get a good meal served, which is very rare for any band to do for the workers.
She sure knows if she treats her employees good they will also take care of her and make sure there are no flaws in any of the light shows music or anything else kudos to her
Taylor also donated a ton of money to local food banks at every stop of her tour
Edit: its important to realize this may have ripple effects. Lots of young artists look up to these two women. Its nice that they have role models that show them how they can be kind
That’s fantastic to hear..I keep dreaming that she takes up the cause of the addiction and hopelessness on American streets. It’s non political and she could easily demand better of the system, declaring the situation unacceptable. Even just that would go a long way, as well as strategically placing her money where it counts the most. She can’t do everything though.
@@nilsbrown7996 She donates regularly to foundations for cancer research, children with cancer, centers that aid women and children who are victims of abuse... etc. All earnings from her song "Ronan" go to a foundation for children. Lets hope she shares to your mentioned causes too. ❤
I know she donates a lot to disaster relief in the U.S. and to schools grades kindergarten thru 12.
AMEN!
To all the people, who think the 100.000 bucks are not enough... greed is a bad counselor. This bonus is also a appreciation for the people, who help to make the hole show happen.
The hole show? what kind of performance is Taylor putting on?
@@roberteltze4850holy shit nicely done dude lol. For real tho people being upset about other people getting extra money, and SOMEHOW six figures is not enough...wut?

$100k might mean nothing to Beyoncé. $55m I bet even Taylor feels, but even if it's pocket change, that's awfully considerate. We need more artists like that.
Taylor bypassed Beyonce tour..almost 2 billion..she is a force to be reckoned with!!
Taylor's net worth is more than Beyonce, but regardless. She's doing a good thing here.
@@Techridr That’s fkn insane. Just blew my mind
oh yeah 55mill is a shit ton of money. But yeah all these people can either invest that or put a huge amount on a downpayment for a house. Imagine suddenly getting an extra 100k at once out of the blue.
Beyonce would never do that.
I totally respect her generosity. She's also given TONS of $ to local organizations and causes in areas where she's been performing. I think she's a super kind person, and thinks about others beyond herself.
Yep. Each city she went to got a ton of money for their food banks
It's a great move plus it's all tax deductible too. Plus it also reduce the chance of a worker strike because the worker union has been demanding her to stop her Eras tour in support of their causes.
Think how much revenue is generated from this tour. Let's take a look at a typical stadium performance. 50,000 seats at $200 per ticket? That's $10 million for just one show. 100 shows is $1B. No idea what the overall expenses are, but I can see how Taylor could afford to pay out $50MM in bonuses. Her take home from the tour will probably be around $400MM.
@@moeball740 plus the bonus is actually taxes deductibles based on the IRS so she technically get the money back through taxes deduction.
@@LilyEvans1996 Not just the charities.
The city of Glendale, AZ (right outside Phoenix) hosted the Super Bowl a few years back and the Eras tour went through there too. The Glendale Chamber of Commerce said the revenue to the local economy was greater from Taylor's tour than from the Super Bowl! Apparently the Swifties dropped a bunch of money locally on hotels, restaurants and shopping.
I saw a post from a person whose dad was a truck driver for the eras tour who texted them and said he was able to finish paying for his college because of Taylor’s bonus. Everyone was so grateful to her. There hasn’t been a single employee she has worked with that has ever said anything negative about her behavior and the way she treats her staff.
If you see Taylor’s relationship with her parents and the way they have raised her, it’s not hard to see why she is such a kind hearted person who treats everyone with respect. Every performer should take inspiration from the way Taylor handles her career because she’s brilliant at it.
Taylor Swift for president!!!!❤❤😂😅😅🌹🌹🤗👍👍👍😎🤙🤙
She also makes a huge donation to every food bank, in every city she plays in. She’s an amazing person and artist ❤️
@@ReptilesGeniales500,000? I dont think you have a clue of logistics.
Sounds to me like she does More for the working Man in this country than our goddamn government does! We can't even get politicians to follow through on their damn promises the rest of the world gets more than we get! Maybe it should be Taylor Swift for president!!!!❤❤❤😂😂🤔🤔🧐🧐💰💰🌹
Some people just always try to see things in a negative way. Taylor giving away that much money to the people who made the show the success that it is is amazing.
It's either that or give it to the iRS....
Absolutely. It's also strategic for a good employer to take care of the people who work for her. I bet this is why more than half of them have stayed for more than 10 years. ❤
It seems like more and more people try to see things in a negative way...
Taylor Swift is amazing and untouchable at this point. People getting mad at her paying her crew are clowns.
Lol people just angry at her for being generous..?? yea this world is F up
Plus every city/state she plays in she has boosted the economy by billions with travel, hotels restaurants for concert goers and shopping merchandise etc. she boosted the GDP in the entire country. Plus I’m sure her employees will get another big bonus this year for another year of touring. God bless her and keep her safe from the haters ✝️🙏❤️
I find it pretty interesting, that there are still a good amount of people who are so bored in their life and have the energy to be upset about a bonus someone else got.
That's the American way. Underpaid people pissed that other people got what they deserve, instead of being pissed they're being underpaid and overworked.
@@erix5184 Not just the American way, same here in Germany.
@@erix5184 almost worldwide , it seems. Some people somehow think because they graduated college, or because I need this, or I need that, they automatically deserve a 6 figure paycheck for basically doing nothing all day. I can remember many 12 or 16 hour shifts for half of what most of these kids are getting. We were still paying out of pocket for a lot of my husband's stuff when he passed. Sucks but I found ways to do it, and they don't include hating rich people, especially when they do something nice.
For anyone who complains about this: I’m sure that none of the people who got those checks said “Hold on a minute! Is this just a PR stunt? Because if it is, you can keep your dirty money!”
It wasn't a pr stunt tho, she didn't tell anyone. The owner of sho motion told people about it
Oh I read your comment wrong
@@aliciaevans2012 He was saying how stupid it is if anyone was complaining about the bonus. You know how everyone likes to bash Taylor. He wasn't though.
Most bands don't even acknowledge most of the crew. As a former local crew employee, I really appreciated the bands that even took the time to interact with us because there weren't many. I have no idea of what working for Taylor Swift as local crew is like, but the way she's treating her road crew is really great.
So many of them ignore you, are rude, make you communicate with them through their assistant even though they are standing right there, and leave trash everywhere. Let’s celebrate people who are decent and respectful of their staff.
Something that folks might not know is that back in 2020 Taylor was due to take her album Lover out on the road. We all know what happened next and Loverfest (as it was called) didn't happen. Nonetheless she still paid her touring band and dancers even though they were effectively doing nothing. She had a very productive year nonetheless doing both folklore and evermore. She has a very astute management team (13 Management) of which she and her parents are key members, (also includes Robert Allen older brother of Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen, who was a tour manager for Tim McGraw & Faith Hill before Taylor nicked him).
Her 1st manager she shared with Britney Spears sued her for a part of her 13 yr contract. She handpicked her 2nd one (who worked for her indie label at the time for radio- no managerial experience) and he always praised her work ethic. He left the role before her 1st headlining tour- but he was putting his family first - too much time on the road. She worked with some producers (Chapman, Antonoff, Dessner) she co-produced with & choose tour openers (Beiber, Sheeran, Florida Georgia Line)- weren't as big or as well-known at some point but have been very successful.
@@user-yd1mq5yk9w a bit of a midas touch ❤
Yes, we all remember exactly what happened. Politicians made people very fearful and selfishly shut down "non-essential" companies.
If ever there was a time to exercise certain inalienable rights, 2020 was the year.

@@clansome indeed. I'll just say that it's easy to make decisions when they do not affect you. The 14th amendment was not complied with and the people suffered because of it.
How anyone could respond negatively to this is beyond me. She is setting an example that more of the bigger artists should aspire too. Hell this kind of generosity should be the norm in EVERY industry.
Angry? More like super jealous. She's putting on the largest grossing tour in history... she's probably one of handful of artist that genuinely loves her staff. By giving this money to the people putting in the work and dedication deserve this goes to show how amazing and humble she is.
@@GH0STST4RSCR34M that's true! All goes hand in hand.
She herself reached out to the station family fund ( station nightclub fire) and gave us a guitar to auction off to raise money to help. Forgot what we got but she's a very amazing person
Taylor's tour is one of those mega tours where there are two identical stages on the road at the same time. One being set up in a different city while she is performing in another city. Those logistics are mindboggling!
U2 and the Stones have done the same with their tours in the past.
@@gamecock1972 Yeah, that's true. I guess you know you're at the absolute top when you are touring with duplicate stages. Just insane to wrap your mind around. Fun fact about U2. One of their "claw" stages is permanently installed at the aquarium in Salt Lake City. It's very visible from the freeway.
I did not know that thank you for the tidbit
@@gamecock1972yeah that's always been common for big stages
On Pink Floyd’s “Division Bell “ tour,we had 3 full stage rigs,Red,Green &Blue…that’s a HUGE amount of steel bouncing around. The logistics of getting that much material to where it needs to be is nuts!
I like what Taylor has done for employee relations. It's a smart move. Rewarding the loyal workers who have stuck with her is a great thing. She is certainly turning the industry on its head step by step.
I worked merch at a venue that was a consistent stop for Taylor's earlier tours. One of the merch roadies remembered my love for her music during the Speak Now/Red tours, so when 1989 rolled through, he specifically gifted me a crew shirt (something usually only stage hands got, at least where I worked) It's one of my most prized possessions.
on top of that, she’s been making donations to charities/food banks throughout the tour! when she came to pittsburgh she made a HUGE donation to our local food bank 💗
As a fan of Taylor’s since 2006 she has always been incredibly generous with her time and money. But anytime it makes it to mainstream media she’s painted out as money hungry and not doing enough. There’s a reason so many touring professionals return to work for her tour after tour, she recognizes that each individual is important to the show.
Bonuses are discretionary! Bravo to Taylor for recognizing the hard work and dedication of her crew! She didn’t have to, but she did!
I don't care for her music. But this action just made me a fan.
@@julioramirez8768 I didn’t appreciate her as an artist until I understood what a real artist is. Take someone like George Straight. He has a ton of great songs. He wrote none of them. Now, looking at Taylor, she has written and arranged the majority of her music. She has great producers, but she has a musical mind. That being said, I completely understand not liking the type of music she makes. I do however give her props for being a songwriter, multi instrumentalist and arranger. No one cannot say she is not talented.
@@greengoog22 She's truly an artist ❤
About 5 years ago she started directing and producing some of her videos.
Would I ever see Taylor live? No. But I sure as hell respect her for writing her own material and treating her crew like they deserve. You gotta tip your cap. Great video!
I'm the same, I like a few of her songs, but for the most part don't really care for her music, certainly not enough to go pay to see a live show, but I have got respect for her and her generosity here. I'm also the same way with another group, Insane Clown Posse, I like maybe one or two of their songs, wouldn't go see them perform, but give them a lot of respect for their charity work. I also got some newfound respect for Beyonce from this video, I didn't know she paid to keep the transit system open late for her fans, not many artists would do that. People love to speculate about motives and such, and quite frankly, IDC what their motives are, they did a good thing for other people. Even if it was only for good PR, so what? That good PR move helped out the people that make them who they are, namely their fans, stagehands and drivers, because without them these artists would be nothing.
She’s quite an amazing young woman. The very example of “nevertheless, she persisted.”
I saw her in Detroit and then Dead and Company in Boulder
You know you are missing one of the best experiences ever and I’m saying this as a woman over 50
$100,000 is more than the average truck drivers yearly pay. Very generous!
I couldn't name one song by Swift, but I have a ton of respect for her for being such a geniune, kind boss. Pretty damn good role model for youngsters and adults alike.
Well, will you please go listen to shake it off and cruel summer? And then just have a gander at her last three albums because I guarantee you’re going to find a favorite song.
Was never a follower either, but really found resonance in a recent one...Anti-hero, shit had me crying in my car driving.

@@amayawalker7019 If you were a fan you would see everything in the video is how she feels about herself or people have said about her. Insider on RUclips breaks down all of the Easter eggs(meaning behind every single thing in the video. Then rewatch it.) It is very interesting.
Like you said at the beginning we live in a world where people will find something to complain about with everything. We should be celebrating the fact that she's taking care of the people who make the tour run efficiently.
Ive been working since i was 12. Ive had many jobs, including 14 years military service. Ive never got a bonus from anyone. Ive never had an employer even express gratitude. I think this is wonderful. She shared in her good fortune. Most people dont.
If I was still driving truck and I got tipped 100,000 grand I'd be stoked! I'd be able to pay off dept, my cars and buy a house.
To put this in perspective.
Let's say you run a small business that employs 10 people. You cleared $1 million last year. For a Christmas bonus you gave each employee $10k.
I have worked for many companies much larger than that, and the biggest bonus I've ever received was around $1k.
If Taylor wasn't a star, and wasn't this generous, all those people would have made a lot less money this year. Some might not even have had a job at all.
As a dancer who usually gets undervalued, Taylor is a hero! #Goals!
Any type of bonus above and beyond what your contract specifies is worth being humble and saying "Thank You" for. It doesn't matter how much the artist has, or how much they give. Any gift is a gift. The only appropriate response is "Thank You" - that's it.
I became a Swifty after hearing about her generosity. A Metalhead to the core but that is awesome!
welcome swiftie!
This is weird but I always related her songs where she tells off her bad boyfriends to my abusive foster parent. Oh and especially her song “Mean” and “My Tears Ricochet”. She is teaching little girls self-respect and not to put up with sexual or career abuse!
Aww. Love that. I'm a metal head as well, took my daughter to see taylor in 2018 and became an instant swiftie.
$55mil is like, 10% of her total reported net worth. Really impressive and unprecedented.
God damn she's got half a bill on paper? Atta girl
Last I looked her net worth was like $700+ Mil.
Wrong way to look at it - it’s 3% of the tour gross of 1.5 Billion! She keeps 85% of the gate. The money she pays as bonuses is just another business expense of the tour and probably represents 10% of the total touring expenses. It’s very generous, but she’ll probably clear $250 million from the tour after expenses and taxes.
@@aronbaumel Shes going to make double that, around 500 million.. The tour makes 13 million per show, she nets a little over 5 million per show.
55m is just bonus, that's not included their base salary
People are waaaaay over thinking this. She did a good deed for her employees. That’s it. The only people who should upset are other artists who might feel the need to compete 😂. I hate modern pop music, but I’ll give her credit on this one.

Beyoncé? Isn't there a video of hers where she is pissed at her crew for some glitch?
I mean, giving your employees bonuses is different from how you actually treat them.
Taylor treats her staff with respect not just by giving them bonuses,
But also by being physically kind to them.
Taylor is a beautiful human!so considerate and kind! She also wrote a note to each one of them! Love her music, but love her kind heart even more!
The thing that most of these people dont consider is: the US leg of the tour is only ⅓ of thr tour. 55million dollars is what she paid all the people who worked with her for ⅓ of the tour. She will perform in latin america, australia, asia and europe.
As the conpany owner said himself, they worked with her for 3 tours so since 2014. Her dancers and background singers have been around since atleast 2012 and her band has been around since the very beginning of her career, im talking 2006. If someone is able to have the same people work with hee for 17+ years, that speaks volumes about how she treats her crew. You never hear that anyone complains about her ways, wether its in the studio, on tour or for music video productions. The only people complaining about her are either not even familiar with her (as a person and her music) or people who say "she cant possibly be that good/nice/talented". Ever since she started of as an artist, people were saying she was lying about this that and that. For example her 2nd album from 2008 is the most awarded country album of all time. She was 18 when that album was released. That was her huge breakout, so of course people started saying "she isnt writing her own songs" cause she had cowriters on most of her songs. Now to prove them wrong she wrote her entire next album on her own. Now people were hating for a different reason. She was a successful beautiful young woman in country music, a heavy male dominated genre, and people didnt like that
Also a white attractive female was an issue. So many people love to hate her for no reason. It's like if you don't like her music don't listen to it but no they would rather bash her on most sites that mention her. It is so disgusting.
I agree with everything you said Tank. What she paid her crew in bonuses was extremely generous regardless of her net worth or tour gross. And lets also remember that it isn't Taylor who is publicizing this; this info came from one of her vendors.
A few years ago WWE had Wrestlemania in New York/New Jersey, and the show ran to, maybe past midnight, so when it was over all the public transit was shut down. Thousands of people were stuck for hours waiting to use cabs and ride shares. So props to Beyonce for doing a noble, thoughtful thing.
Meanwhile here in Switzerland we have extra trains run by the Federal Railway Company departing midnight in the city of a festival, bringing people home as far as 100km+ 😅
Yeah, and it probably helped some who weren't at the concert if all the stops were open.
@jimi272 Europe has always had better Public Transportation than America
It's the world we live in, I saw the headline, both of them, and I thought, that's a nice gesture, and moved on with my life. I'm not rich and I doubt I'll ever see a $100k check, but I don't begrudge people who have done well financially and don't think they owe me anything, so when I hear stories like this, it's a breath of fresh air, they don't have to give anything, other than the agreed salary! It seems that some people are just sour because it wasn't them benefitting.
I think that's what most normal people did. Haha
@@TankTheTech I hope that you are not suggesting that I am a normal person?... ;-)
I'm not into Taylor or Beyonce's music, but I really admire how they are treating their employees and fans. I hope this will inspire similar generosity from other bands to their crews and fans, and that it is continued. Tank, some people aren't happy unless they're angry about something.
What i like is the fact that her team is not the one dropping the ibfo but the company meaning it is most likely not a pr move, she genuinely did that because she wanted to
I'm listening to this, while driving a truck, wondering how I can get on her next gig 😮
Kudos to her for giving the people who make her show possible night after night life changing money. She knows how to show appreciation.
Tour/entertainment truck driver here. We (the driver community) are happy for all these people. I DID have to remind A LOT of them that there is a 22% flat tax on bonuses, so not to spend it all. But for a lot of these guys, they are going to be able to buy houses, pay off their trucks (because the O/Os got the bonus as well), start college funds for their kids etc etc etc.
If we are going to be mad at anyone, it should be directed towards the CEO’s of the major labels and their shareholders who refuse to properly compensate fair contracts to stagehands, engineers, riggers, lighting crews, drivers and the rest of the behind the scenes staff. Without these people’s help, tours don’t happen.
Taylor Swift taking on this financial responsibility is indeed her showing great character and empathy for the hard working professionals who keep her on the road.
All the drivers I'm working with started talking about that when that article dropped. We're all happy that she actually acknowledged their hard work, and we all agreed we're a little bit jealous. It can be a difficult job to get the trailer packed and then drive X amount of miles to the next venue and get the trucks ready to unload in the morning. But even if you don't get a bonus, it's awesome to have a crew that treats you like you're a part of that road family
the fact beyonce even thought about how her fans were going to get home is whats cool. she cared enough to find a solution. most artist would just accept theres nothing they can do. she was like can we keep the trains running late? itll only cost 100k? done
Plus, Uber tends to charge much more around big events, so it would likely be expensive for many fans. It was kind of her.
I'm impressed with her yet again. Remember when she used her contract to get studio musicians more pay? Could she do more? Of course. But who else is doing even half of what she's doing? It's hard to call someone greedy when they clearly think about and help others so often.
Such a great take on this Tank! As both a metal head and a Swiftie, I love that this is being covered here and love what Taylor did for her crew! ❤️
She also donated quite a bit to food banks in every city she went to. Many performers don't do any of that.
Imagine being mad about something like this. "Hey, here's an extra year's salary plus as a bonus."
She has the money and she's sharing it with the people who work hard so that she can do what she does. I wish more business owners and thought like she does.
Me personally am not a fan of Taylor's music. But I 100000% respect her ability as a musician to write her own songs, with multiple instruments, write the lyrics (with some support), and be as generous as she has been to her crews and fans. She is what every musician and performer should strive to be, who has made it to the success she has. Not every band or performer will achieve her level, so its understandable they can't do what she does, but the fact she does anything is very rare this day in age. I may not be a fan of her music, but I am sure as hell a massive supporter her especially of what she does for every and anyone she can!
She also donated anywhere from $75k to $200k to the food banks and shelters in every city she played.
One bank said she donated to said she donated enough money to feed 700 people every day for a year.
She has also made a noticeable rise in our economy
Taylor swift is a national Treasure
My hats off to the young lady for her generosity. That was very thoughtful of her to think about the people that work for her. always look at tips as whatever the amout. It's a little more then I had before. So many people these days feel some sort of entitlement. Something is never good enough.
i think thats absolutley cool to share the wealth. she doesnt have to and people forget about the drivers and the techs and grips and all the production staff that actually put on the show every date.
For Beyonce to do that, it's not the money. It's the fact that, during a rain delay - so she was probably stressed and worried herself - she paid her staff to think about this and make arrangements for her fans at the last minute. Her willingness to shoulder the administrative labor that every individual fan would have had to do had she not done this is tremendously valuable. Likewise, Taylor released the funds. Do you know how much payroll and paperwork there is to produce bonuses like that? And in large denominations across State lines? There are limits and laws to stop money from being exchanged in this way without massive documentation. In the US, you literally cannot just give someone a million dollars. There are hoops to jump through and it requires expertise and labor to do it legally. To complain that it isn't enough is to admit you are ignorant of how the world works.
Your video is awesome. The dbags complaining are dumb af.
Taylor's Dad personally handed the bonuses to the truck drivers with a hand written note from Taylor. She was definitely raised right.
All of the subways/trains stay open if there is a rain delay. At least for artists that are huge and bring millions into the city for the weekend. If an artist who starts late for no reason like Madonna who usually starts at least 2 hours late they won't stay open.
Not only did she tip 55 million to her crew, but in every city, she has donated 100k+ to local food banks.
As a former touring truck driver, I was naturally a bit jealous. That said, the amount of logistical work behind this tour and all the grief that can come from that, I am very happy for the crew and proud that she would do something like this. I honestly wouldn't have wanted to even run this tour, because of the headaches it probably would have given me.
This is so real. I love it. Most people can’t admit simple truths.
I was happy just to get a pat on the back from the artist back in my road days...
I swear, if someone ever comes up with a cancer vaccine (and I'm a survivor), there will be people bitching about their right to have cancer being taken away.
Really enjoy the channel, Tank.
What I have noticed is that most people either love or hate Taylor Swift. The haters seem to find fault with anything and everything she does.
it’s their own self hate
I don’t even know why I love her but I can’t hate her. Maybe because she’s also a cat lady.
Agreed. The haters are just full of sour grapes.
A very large proportion of Taylor’s crew/band etc. have been with her for over a decade. It’s things like this is part of why they stick around. By all accounts Taylor is wonderful boss to work for. I imagine she is very demanding, not in a bad sense, but she rewards performance and loyalty
she’s super smart
I wonder if some narc will ever try to cancel her with false accusations of sexual harassment.
I know someone who worked on red (album side). He said that her team is very demanding but also very nice.
My dad is a truck driver and when I asked him about it his response was that it was too much money and is just a tax evasion ploy.
He was so negative about it that I doubt he’d recognize a genuine act of kindness and goodwill from a celebrity like her.
Those same people would happily accept that kind of bonus with no complaints, I am just happy for the hard working people who made the tour possible all got a wonderful bonus showing the appreciation for their hard work and helping her make the tour a success.
She has donated big money to every city’s food depositories she went to. It worked out to her being able to feed 100s of thousands of people. Her concert, has been really rigorous, sharing the wealth is only appropriate. Also, unlike most backup musicians, singers are co tract employees, hers have had full benefits (since the beginning), and made sure she they were paid during the pandemic. And people need to remember, she is not seeing the profit from those ridiculous high ticket prices. Lowest tix we’re $69, and floor was $290. She offered those tickets were actually cheap compared to what they got - 3.5 hours of amazing music.
She’s incredibly kind
3.5 hrs is a loooong live show! I’m use to a 2 hr show w 30 min intermission. Lol
@@cajones5956 yeah - no one was prepared for it and went on SM telling everyone to forget wearing those bedazzled boots they worked on for 3 months… comfortable supportive shoes were a must, to hydrate, plan your bathroom break because she never stops- you will have to miss part of the show, etc. 😂
Most of her band has been with her since the beginning. Her backup singers have been with her at least 5 years...some since Red (10 years). She doesn't interchange her band members. She pays for their medical insurance like any normal employer would.
Way to go Taylor! Very sweet❤❤❤❤
as a woman who, with her sister and niece, had to walk back to her hotel 1.1 miles away from a stadium in a city they had never been to before at midnight after a concert because the light rail was so packed we were never going to make it on before it closed i 1000% appreciate what Beyonce did in DC. apologies for the run-on sentence... it's 4:30am and i'm half-asleep at work lol.
edited to add: ed sheeran was absolutely worth the somewhat scary night walk. 3rd best show i've seen after electric callboy and bring me the horizon.
A very generous bonus. People like to complain about TS but she always seems like a class act. 💜
I worked for the same company 31 years. We never got a bonus we were told for Christmas we got the day off with pay.Every once in a while we had manager that would bake homade cookies or something.
Geez, that's a life-changing amount for most people... in ANY country! $100k can pay off debts, mortgages, college education, medical treatments, etc.
Taylor's music isn't really my style, but I've come to really love her as a person, and every time i see someone hate on her, that love gets a little stronger.
The only people actually upset by this are those who hate her for hert politics and her being a powerful woman and putting her money where her mouth is.
Good on Taylor. Respect. And cant wait for her directing career ahead of her.
She also personalized the bonuses by writing each a letter of thank you to go with the bonus.
That's very generous of her. I think the people complaining about this are just people who are jealous of rich people who have money like this to throw around (people also love to hate on Taylor Swift, in general). I'm a professional musician at the local level, and I'm lucky if I pull $100 for a gig. The key to happiness in life is being content with what you have. Don't be envious of other people or their success. Especially in the music business. lol
Considering the massive stage that Taylor has, the amount of work and effort to build it, tear it down every show for the entire tour...that's worth the bonus alone in my opinion.
They’re already getting paid really well to do all that hard work.
The bonuses she gave are her being generous and sharing the success of the tour.
They also need to think about the costumes for Taylor, her dancers, and her backup singers. Tayor had to have her costumes and footwear specially made, her footwear had to be really well made for performing for 3 1/2 hours. Whereas her dancers and singers got breaks, Taylor took no breaks, just costume changes and those were layered for quick changes to save time.
I don't care how rich someone is, tipping/bonusing out this amount of money is going to make a dent for anyone. Even the Jeff Bezos' and Elon Musks' of the world have to move assets around and liquidate/leverage things to raise that amount of ready case. Props to her for going above and beyond to treat her people well. The bottom line is that she forewent 55 million plus that could have otherwise went into her pocket, that's a massive chunk of change for anyone to give up.
Are they also gonna complain about her donating a ton to food banks in each city she stops in on her tour? They just hate it because it’s Taylor Swift doing it and people hate her for absolutely no logical reason.
A Hundred grand is a deal changer for many people. Suddenly, they have a substantial down payment for a house. She was very generous and it was greatly appreciated.
Thank you for talking about this. I work for a guitarist for 5 years. During the show I sell CDs. In one of his sets I sold about $1,000 worth of CDs. He never done that before. At the end of the night after four hours of working.
He gave me a big bonus, of $500
I was totally grateful for that.
He also pays me $100 an hour it definitely helped me a lot.
Taylor also donated to food banks in each city she performed in during the tour to supply enough food for a year.
on the other side of things: it's also the smart thing to do, it stifles any complaints about expensive tickets, and at a time when other parts of the industry are striking, Swift's image couldn't be better served, this news becomes topical and relevant even more. It's generous and all that, but it's also very smart for business and publicity; 55mil is nothing compared to the goodwill it bought.
Beyonce's move shows more than just generosity, it shows awareness of working-people problems. Something many celebs have no clue about.
No good deed goes unpunished. It's a BONUS, pay above and beyond what was promised (what some might call a GIFT). Wonder how many of these complainers have ever ran a business and had to make a payroll?
I’m glad she gave these bonuses. This is what a very generous boss will do. I wish we had more of them.
My god, we read all the time of celebrities, etc who don’t even TIP on meals in restaurants!
I think this is awesome. (I’m not even a fan, just not my style music)
Go Taylor!
Edit: Reading comments many have said she has also donated to food banks, etc.. That is very kind! 🌹
She has also been making large donations to the local food bank of each city she play in.
As a ex European truckie I can tell you we are lucky if we get a t shirt or a jacket and we even lift cases , still miss it though
I think it's great! She realizes the value of taking care of her employees. Major corporations could learn from her generosity and realize that people are quitting because they are not getting paid what they are worth.
I have never heard anything negative about her, i imagine working for Tailor would be amazing enough but this just shows that she appreciates the people
Because of my work I have had the opportunity to be in close proximity to people who are far wealthier than Taylor Swift. If they give you anything they are being nice. Taylor is truly being generous.
Faith No More are a bunch of stand up guys too. I love them, and I love Taylor too. Not only did she give bonuses to her crew, she also donated significant amounts to food banks in every city the show was brought to. She is extremely generous and kind, and people love to hate her for anything they can. Says more about them than it does about her.
Taylor has the most guts in the industry right now on several levels.
When a artist goes out of their way to do something that they don't have to do. It is frigin awesome. Know matter how much or little it is. Bring kids up on the stage to play a song with them, or dropping bonuses to their hard work people that make the shows happen. It is awesome. They don't have to do it, but they still do. This kind of stuff shows that they still have a heart, and care for their fans and the people around them. Hell I am tickled pink when a customer drops me a $5.00 tip for fixing their car. They worked hard for that $5.00 and for someone to just give me that. It means a lot to me.
Tank thanks for sharing 👍 I heard this about Taylor the other day. What great human beings Taylor and Beyonce are! Just heard Jeff Bezos donated 100 million to start a fund for the Maui Wildfires. The most hilarious thing was people diverting into negative land over a thoughtful act. Saying crap like "he's worth 160 billion that's nothing to him" 🤣
About the pr thing. Yes it is great pr, of course no doubt about it. But if we look at this case in particular, it makes no sense. Taylor is in headlines every single week and especially this week since she did 6 nights at Sofi stadium in LA + she announced another album so once again headline after headline
Those truck drivers deserve it and all of her crew. So happy for them and that was so generous of her. I actually helped disassemble her stage on one day and it’s so much work. I can imagine doing that everyday would be hard work.
