The OST to Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse for the Nintendo Entertainment System, updated into a new "8BS Mixed" format with less echo/reverb and to sound more clear and crisp than ever before, while also providing on screen information to respective composers, arrangers, sound programmers and developers. These mixes also do not represent the original versions, these tracks are based from original NSF rips, and are not recordings from an actual NES/Famicom, check below for the original OST in NSFe format! So, welcome to Niko's 8BitStereo! Enjoy the music and share!

Everyone arise for the third installment of this wonderful NES trilogy, the 8BS Revamp is bringing you the goods of Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse! After the mixed reception of the last game, Konami went back to the original formula and brought us one of the best platformers on the console. Filled with even more beautiful landscapes and graphics, multiple paths and characters and endings to choose from, and a challenging difficulty, this is as Castlevania feeling as it gets, and of course, we are graced with the best part of this game, its magnificent soundtrack! While the Famicom version is definitely praised the most thanks to the VRC6 sound expansion, we are still treated to so many memorable versions of these tracks, with this game producing its biggest well known song, "Beginnings." But thanks to the effort of all on the Konami sound team, we have so many other great tracks to love like "Clockwork", "Mad Forest", "Aquarius" and "Riddle" among the many great tracks from this OST, and not a bad song among this bunch!
As expected, under official releases, the composer names are credited under "Konami Kukeiha Club", but thanks to the original game having credits, we are given three names, Yukie Morimoto, Jun Funahashi and Yoshiaki Sasaki! With Morimoto and Funahashi being the two main composers of this title. Now according to the liner notes of an Official release, a small conversation between Motoaki Furukawa and "three from the Famicom development team" is given, and from that we learn Jun Funahashi composed "Stage 1 (Beginnings)" and the Boss Fight tune, but sadly that is all that is given for specific track credit, and that of course Yukie Morimoto composed as well, so due to the unconfirmed nature of that all other tracks give credit to both. Yoshiaki Sasaki actually replaces Hidenori Maezawa credit from the Japan release, as of course Maezawa was specifically given credit on the Famicom version for having designed the VRC6 chip and the sound of it, and didn't compose, thus technically given credit for the Sound Driver still used on the International release as its still based under his code. Yoshiaki Sasaki was in charge of converting all the tracks that were originally composed under the VRC6 sound, to work and fit on the standard R2A03 soundchip of the NES, technically making him an Arranger of their tunes. Sasaki did a pretty fantastic job making these tracks stand on their own compared to the richness of the VRC6 expansion, whether you like one or the other, it's just great we have two versions to listen to and enjoy!
It's finally great to complete the NES trilogy of this series on the new upgraded sound of 8BitStereo, and happy to be providing more OST's to you all, I will see about focusing on smaller Tracklist soundtracks to get more uploads out, but we will see, if I can also keep up this momentum on larger OST's, it will be great for everyone! Thanks to my Patron supporters as always and those at Tiers 2 & 3 to have your name shown, thanks for enjoying the series! ❤www.patreon.com/nikotengoku ❤
Hey Niko!
Thanks for this! Love this OST. You should also check this out: ruclips.net/video/UwIQ3nBZ4Dw/видео.html someone went to the trouble of mixing the Famicom and the NES CV3 OSTs to make a hybrid version of this, as the sounds are different between them, and it is also awesome and you will probably like it. Thanks for all your hard work!
@@TheMTOne You're welcome, glad you enjoy it! I have actually seen this one and very much enjoy it and the effort put into that video, a great way to highlight how amazing both versions of the OST are! And thank you I enjoy all the effort I put into this! :)
All your stuff is totally beyond ROCKING and COOL! Keep up the work its very pro!
Got this for my birthday in 1991, lots of fond memories
That's a great gift, and I hope just like the game itself, the OST has stuck with you all this time! And well, you're here so it certainly must have! :)
We bought this for my dad's 40th birthday back 1992 and the clocktower level completely blew my mind as a kid. This game and soundtrack are unforgettable!
I hope we was able to see most of the game if not beat it, and got to experience this wonderful soundtrack! :D
I feel like I missed an essential part of childhood only reading about this game in Nintendo Power but never actually renting it.
My very first Castlevania. So glad I started with this entry into a 3 decade long commitment to the series
I love how this game's ost is the only one of the series with Dracula's laugh mocking you, I wish it would've been continued in the sequels as a nice touch of psychological warfare. And the boss yells are goofy xD so I'm glad you included them 👍
@@unwaifu69 I've wondered that too but never felt the itch to search it tbh
Of course, I love me some Samples in NES games, and this game has some great ones! :P
My first CV game. Thanks for this.
Symphony of the Night, Super Castlevania IV, and Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse are the top three Castlevania OSTs for me. The whole series is legendary of course, but if I had to pick only three it would be those. I realize I'm missing out on tons without Castlevania I and II.
A pretty perfect trifecta of choices, Super Castlevania IV probably wins overall it for me in the series, that is just a phenomenally perfect soundtrack!
Thank you.
This is one of the retro soundtracks that really stands out when you hear tracks from it in a playlist or stream.
And definitely stands out from other NES Konami soundtracks, its just got that recognizable sound, even for this version of the OST, you just know when it's CV3! :D
Thanks Niko 😊❤
always got love for the opening music📻🔊🎶
Castlevania 3 is such an awesome game, I hope you improve the Famicom counterpart soon.
Edit 3/14/2024: there seems to be a mistake in the Timestamps, SFX: One Up is 34:48
Oh you bet your sweet Wall Chickens I will be! Just had to finish out the NES trilogy of the Castlevania OST's.
Thanks for the heads up on the timestamp, fixed! :)
I listened to this soundtrack not too long ago, and yet I was still drawn in by non-stop banger after banger. A great range of styles and moods. One of Konami's best. And a great way to listen to it as well. Thank you Niko!
The password theme is so spooky! I would have run from the room if I heard my Nintendo laughing at me. 😆
This is the best game I've played before. Thanks 4 uploading!
AWW YEAH
Equally on par with The Smurfs, Ferrari Grand Prix Challenge, and Journey to Silius as the best scores on the NES, clicked as fast as I could
"The Smurfs"
You have good taste, sir 🎶
Amazing! Missed these tunes!
And they missed you! Now they are here in 8BS Revamp goodness!
If there is a HOF for OST, this one def be in it
Loved this game so much!
To this day I still consider Riddle to be the best track in this amazing game. And that's with it competing with the rest of the amazing soundtrack!
It would certainly be S Tier for songs from this game, I would also put "Aquarius" up there with it, just a great track! :D
Another great soundtrack! Can hear a little David Wise influence in some of the music. Thanks for sharing, Niko!
I think there's something wrong with a bunch of the songs in the mega download. None of my mp3 playing devices recognize the files at all. When I try to open them up in audacity it throws errors at me.
Why did you do the vastly inferior NES version instead of the Famicom?
I am sure he will make the VRC6 version soon enough!!
Where is the VRC6 version of the game soundtrack? Way better than NES version.
It’s a shame Nintendo of America had no NES expansion sound chip support in their console version, or this mix would never exist.
And nobody would have known the difference.
To me, this never existed in the first place, I don’t wear rose colored glasses.
20/20 lenses.
Stellar!!!! Thank you!
You're welcome, enjoy it endlessly! :)
