    The OST to Ninja Gaiden 2: The Dark Sword of Chaos for the Nintendo Entertainment System, updated into a new "8BS Mixed" format with less echo/reverb and to sound more clear and crisp than ever before, while also providing on screen information to respective composers, arrangers, sound programmers and developers. These mixes also do not represent the original versions, these tracks are based from original NSF rips, and are not recordings from an actual NES/Famicom, check below for the original OST in NSFe format! So, welcome to Niko's 8BitStereo! Enjoy the music and share!

    Prepare yourselves everybody! It's time to bring you the Revamp of a sequel to a stellar series from the NES, it's time for Ninja Gaiden 2: The Dark Sword of Chaos! A game arguably better than its predecessor, between improved controls/movement, phenomenal graphics and animations, an even deeper storyline, it's got everything you could want from a Ninja Gaiden title, on top of still being ridiculously "Hard To Beat"! But among the improvements made in this sequel, the Soundtrack is undeniably even better! While the original NG music is certainly the more well known and classic, NG2 amplifies the energy and moods of experiencing this title between the Stages and Cutscenes, brought to us by the legendary Tecmo sound team of Ryuichi Nitta & Mayuko Okamura! So many amazing tracks by both the composers, the Tecmo sound guys were really on top of their game!
    Thanks to recent official releases of the OST under the "Ninja Gaiden The Definitive Soundtrack", we get a nice list of Official Ttrack Titles and the respective credits for which of the two composers did which, which are respectively changed to the respective Composer on the video! Keiji Yamagishi who did most of the OST on the previous game, is credited on a select few tracks, but likely for the Original Compositions, as his credited tracks are alterations likely Arranged by Ryuichi Nitta, who is also credited as the "Sound Director" on this entry, likely making him the Arranger and who was the main one in charge of the sound to this OST. There is also a rare credit for Mikio Saito on the "Interlude II" track, while not credited on this game, it's nice to know he did that one! Along with giving credit to Hiroshi Miyazaki (who you may have seen credited under Sugito Miyashiro) for all the SFX's in the game, it's nice to see Tecmo giving the respective credit for who did what. All of these fantastic tunes being put under Keiji Yamagishi's sound driver, officially named the "Super Sound Machine," it is certainly a fantastic Driver, its instrumentation is phenomenal and the Drum Samples are tight! The only mystery that remains on this OST is the "Unused Theme" which is sadly not featured on the official Definitive release, so it's up in the air if Nitta or Okamura composed it, I likely lean towards Nitta as it sounded like it would have been used for the Final True Boss fight at the end of the game, it just has that energy like the "Lord of Night" theme.
    This is certainly one of the best NES titles, and the Soundtrack is beloved for good reasons, it took what was loved about the original NG and made it even better, I hope you all enjoy the Revamp on this OST! Thanks to all my Patron supporters for giving thanks for what I've done for years, and especially Tiers 2 & 3 who are given thanks at the end of the videos, which if you'd like to join those Tiers to be featured just follow the link to my Patreon, much love to you all! www.patreon.com/nikotengoku

    "Hurry, Ryu! Hit Ashtar in the underground maze!"
    For as dramatic as that scene is, that line of dialogue always makes me giggle. I get such a funny image of Ryu quickly dashing through a labyrinth of weird rock tunnels, ambushing Ashtar, and then slapping him before quickly running away while Ashtar cries out "Ow!"

      "Hard to Beat" was pretty much the original way of saying "git gud", Tecmo were like the FromSoftware of this era with these tough games. And you're welcome, glad to have finally followed up the original with this entry!

    I still remember trying to nail down the perfect timing to activate this game's soundtest when you first turn it on. It was awesome!

      Hell yeah, love when NES/Famicom games had sound tests, even better when they put effort into the Sound Player/Screen for them, this one definitely ranks among the coolest sound tests!

    I'm a sucker for this soundtrack collection. One of my all-time favorites, I could listen to this dozens of times and I would not get tired of it.

      Most certainly, and toughest, even though they were saving the hardest for us on the USA version of Ninja Gaiden 3.

    I imagine that unused theme would've been for a sequence where you guide Ryu out of the collapsing castle.

    • @Nikos8BitStereo
      @Nikos8BitStereo  3 месяца назад +1

      Surprised they never did that for any of the NES games, would fit en "Escape Sequence" song, but most have theorized this would have been for some kind of Boss Battle tune, which I lean towards.

    Can you please revamp Solar Jetman: The Search for the Golden Warpship? That’s still amazing how an NES game could have an hour of music by the way.

    IDK after all these remasters you haven't remade your Eggerland series OSTs, they're in desperate need of a remake.
