No it's not recurring. Generally speaking these cars are reliable, but given that it's 20 years old - any original parts will start to give out. So bushings, hoses, gaskets will start to go. Basically anything rubber / plastic will require attention. But this is one of those cars where if you keep maintaining it, it will last for a very long time. I'd say it's only worth it if you're a big fan of the car. Other than that, the engine and transmission are very solid and reliable no matter how much you beat on it

I bought one for $9k about 2 years ago. Have spent a good chunk on maintenance and refinishing the OEM wheels, new tires, but every time I drive it, I’m reminded it’s worth it. But I wouldn’t want to own it if I was really tight on cash all the time. If you’re good with budgeting and have some spare cash after purchase, and some tools, you’ll be happy.
no alternator / water pump without that belt too. Would overheat and battery would die within 5-10min or so. Had this same thing happen on my other c55 lol

if you were about 10-20 minutes from home its still drivable to get it home, you just wouldn't have had power steering
