  • This is an operational crypto mining facility built in shipping container and designed to ship internationally. This container was certified for loading on a container ship before purchase, there are no holes in the container.
    The design parameters were for portability and ease of maintenance - this version has 210 miners in operation.

    Excellent content; like a true BOSS. I use a 12'X30' detached garage for my rigs that this floor plan will work perfectly. So, there is a tad bit more room than in your standard size NATO Connex. The only thing that might of made this vid better is a general parts used list in the discription. I have to say, it is starting to feel like the old days again when the players were more of a community trust of knowledge; which I have recently seen some OG's becoming more active again on Github and Reddit writing new tools for those without coding or compiling skills.
    Peace

    What I'd really _love_ to see is an overview (brief or comprehensive... your choice, of course :-) ) of how one goes about choosing a commercial lease/rental location, types that are desirable for mining, and what to watch out for in contracts.

      Thank you for the suggestion - I am going to be doing some more short how-to videos, and plan on working the business aspect of running a mid-size mining business into the discussion. Will talk about finding locations more. However, short answer is with a container, which is a temporary structure, would look for larger facilities that have a low electric rate already, and see if you can piggyback off that rate. Or see if there are some smaller independent hydropower plants you can drop a container at

    Rofl - that's an amazing build-out. Are you considering making remote stations where energy costs are lower?

    • @BlockOperations
      @BlockOperations  5 лет назад +1

      Thank you! Yes, I am working to talk with people in many areas about ground and power leases. One of the reasons I use PDU's is that the containers we are going to drop at remote sites need to be able to have minimal onsite activity if at all possible. And sometimes miners just need to be hard-rebooted to get them going again. Next version will have the space, power, and cooling for about 300 miners. I know it is possible to pack them in tighter, but I think 300 is a good number.

    I’m interested to know why the container needed to be built to “code”. My first instinct is that a container would fall under a non-permanent equipment exemption. Would it be possible to build a container so that it could simply be plugged in to an already permitted panel on site and therefore no additional notice to city/county would be necessary?

    • @BlockOperations
      @BlockOperations  4 года назад +1

      i think it could just be prebuilt and plugged in without inspection. Maybe because we were doing a building at the same time they wanted to inspect the container? Next one will see what can be done about just building it.
      There does need to be a big electrical panel to connect the power to though, and the power company in some cases won't connect unless there is a valid permit with the county. Need to figure out more details about that part of it.

  • @ashfrancis761

    Very informative! Complete beginner but got a little stuck on the maths, would appreciate if someone could see me straight:
    1200 amp, 208V 3 phase transformer
    3 x 400 amp Panels
    30 amp L6R receptacles and then to PDUs
    210 miners
    1450W per miner
    1450/208 = 7 amps per miner
    50 Outlets to 210 miners
    (he mentions 5000 amp outlets at 1:50, unsure on this?)
    that would be 4 miners per outlet, at 30 amps per outlet that allows for 28 amps, I thought you were only supposed to operate at 80% or is this only home circuits? As I mentioned, I'm a beginner so I'm sure I'm missing something, if someone could clear this up for me that would be great, thank you.

    • @BlockOperations
      @BlockOperations  5 лет назад +1

      2 of the miners are S9 (1500 watts), 2 of them are L3+ (1000 watts) - total is 5000 watts. Don't want to go over 24 amps per outlet

      I would ship it if mining were outlawed in the country, if the power company raised the rate, or if I can find much better electricity rate. When running a business it is more important to make sure you don't lose everything than seeking to maximize ROI all the time. Mitigating risk is part of the planning.
