Happy Thanksgiving Mary. I am making your recipes for the stuffing, fermented cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie this year! Thank you for sharing your sweet memories of your parents. I always think of how my parents tackled the stuffing and turkey too! Blessings!
Mary, It’s that time of year again. if I wanted to add ground cooked sausage and ground sage to this cornbread dressing, what amounts would you suggest? thx much
Hi Sweet Mary!! Looks delish!! 😋❤ I ..just dry canned some of those bread cubes for my prepper shelf😬 Mom & .....my two sisters and I will be having Thanksgiving at Cracker Barrel this year and a movie. All of our guys will be deer hunting in Doss, TX near Fredericksburg. Hope you're staying warm! Be Blessed! ❤, Shanna
Hi Shanna, WOW - I am so impressed that you are dry canning!! I love your prepper heart!! Cracker Barrel is SO delicious - whenever my husband and I pass one it is hard for us to resist stopping in!! Enjoy!! I am sure it will be delicious. Wow - yes I know Doss. Hope their hunting trip goes well. Oh heavens - it is so cold. I feel like I am back East!! LOL!! Thanks so much for being here!! Love, Mary
@@MarysNest Awww Thank you Mary!!! I thoroughly am enjoying prepping. It's so fun among many other hobbies I enjoy. We love Doss! Our family has been on the lease 30+years. My Dad runs the lease and the owner of the land is Sammy & Raynette Geistweidt. They're wonderful people and long time friends. Dad lost his right leg above knee this May 😢 after fishing, getting a cut on his leg contracting flesh eating bacteria. He is still in therapy learning to walk on his prosthetic. He wasn't sure he would go to the lease this year, but his 3 son in laws were gonna make sure he was going. My sweet hubby had a ramp built and drove up to the lease and installed it 2 weeks ago. We are blessed and grateful Dad is still with us and continuing to do what he loves. God is good!!😊😘❤🙏
@@MarysNest Raynette used to have a cute lil dress shop in Fredericksburg and Sammy plays in a band. Sweet folks😊 I'm looking forward to Cracker Barrel...I hope I can contain myself in the gift shop. Lol!🤷♀️🤦♀️😜
Shanna's Country Charm - Oh my goodness Shanna!! I am so sorry to hear about your dad. But I just love that he has such great son-in-laws. What a blessing!! You sound like you have such a wonderful family. What a blessing!! ❤️😘❤️
Hey! I did a corn bread dressing too. Mine deploys on Friday. Either great minds think alike or many homes have similar meals on the table for Thanksgiving. Your recipe looks good!
Hi Denise!! Thanks so much for visiting!! Too funny!! Yes, seems like we are all serving similar things. I have to say that I never had cornbread dressing growing up but when I moved to Texas I discovered it and just fell in love. It's SO good!! I can't wait to see yours!! Thank so much for being here!! Love, Mary
Mary's Nest I love dressing...doesn’t matter what kind but cornbread dressing is the best. I think your title - cooking school - is apt. You are such a good teacher...these videos are like tutorials packed with information. Very nicely done. I like it!
This and That with Denise Jordan - Oh Denise!! Thank you SO much!! That means the world coming from you because I feel the same way about you. Your videos are SO chock full of info!! And you are so multi-talented!! Love, Mary❤️😘❤️
Mary!!! The title said corn bread I needed to watch!!!! I’m so curious Mary are you from the New England area?? I can’t figure out your accent?? Tfs this looks so yummy 😋 Mary I just adore your channel!!
Bella D Designs - Hi Bella, Thank you SO much for all the kind words!! I am a New Yorker but went to school in Boston...and now I have lived in Texas for over 20 years!! Quite the combination of accents!! LOL!! Thank you so much for being here! You are such a doll! Love, Mary❤️😘❤️
@@MarysNest I'm new to your channel and I'm enjoying your videos very much. I have already saved quite a few. I have a question about what you said that you cook your dressing the day before and wrap it tight so you can just heat it up the next day. Do you leave it in your cast iron pan? I just have never heard of anyone putting their cast iron in the refrigerator. If you do, do you take it out ahead of time to get to room temperature before putting it in the oven?💜
I have never had cornbread dressing. I must live under a rock. LOL! It DOES sounds like a delicious recipe, tho, and when you took a bite and I heard the CRUNCH, I immediately decided I'm going to try it. :-D Thank you for sharing all of the wonderful things you do! I SO enjoy your channel!!! Give your mom hugs and kisses from me :-D Love & prayers
Kathleen Zimmerman - Hi Kathleen, you are such a sweetheart!! I will give my mom a big hug from you!! BTW...don’t feel bad...I had never heard of cornbread dressing until I moved to Texas. One taste and I was hooked!! Love, Mary ❤️😘❤️
@@MarysNest ... Is that little egg whisk small enough to fit into a regular mouth 12 oz canning jar? I was thinking about buying a "frother" electronic whisk, but, I hesitated because I don't want to whip air into my mom's liquids. When I am adding powdered greens and herbs to her liquids, I need something with a little more "oomph" than a spoon, but, could never find a whisk small enough. This might be my ticket!
Kathleen Zimmerman - Definitely...it is very small...maybe about an inch wide. I love the thing. It works so great...and a lot better than a fork. You will love it!! ❤️😘❤️
@@MarysNest ... Thank you, dear Mary :-D I just placed the order, and it will be here on Monday. Can't wait to try it!!! I have the 12" cast iron pan on my wish list. I have a long handled 12", but, have been looking for the one with short handles. PERFECT!!! I'll let you know when I'm ready to push the *buy now* button. ;) You KNOW it's not going to taste the same if I make it in glass or even stainless steel, right? LOL!!! SIgned: Your addicted to cast iron friend. :D :-D :-D
to mak bread crumbs just lay out slices of bread to go stale for 24 hrs and then crumble them into bite sized squares?....can they be stored at this point in a container? for how long ?
Hi Teresa, Great questions!! Yes, they can be stored in a container. You can put them in any type of air-tight bag or container and will store well at room temperature for three days. And for a few more days than that if put in the fridge. And if you decide to freeze them, they will last several weeks. Another option for longer term storage is to seal them in a mylar bag with an oxygen absorber and use a Foodsaver type machine to extract all the air from the bag. Stored this way, they should stay fresh for 8-10 months. Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I am so happy to help! Love, Mary
