Amazing job, Cole. Thank you. There are several (former) fishing partners that would discard old fishing lines in the lakes and rivers. Often, some would keep every fish that they caught, legal or not. They only wanted to drink beer, sink their cans, and abuse the environment. I'm so grateful for people like you and who do what you do. Many Blessings.

This was the turtle's lucky day ! Being found by a renowned Herpetologist, namely, Cole Harken. I don't think the average angler would have gone to that great length to save that turtle. They are one of GOD's creatures, although being slow on land, they may have been one of the last animals to get on the ARK., but they made it ! Hope this made you smile. So sad to see the lake back in that condition. Several nice bass tagged. Pap Blevins

I have to be honest, everything after the turtle release was kinda meh...lol
Of course i enjoyed the entire video, great bonus you got to save a turtle. Its a mess for the animal when they get caught up in plastics. The only thing that keeps my blood pressure low with that, since i'm an angler I know break offs happen. Sometimes our bad luck fishing breaking off, causes other wildlife to suffer by getting caught in our line laying at bottom of creek/river/lake. That being better by fact it wasn't a lazy bum that left his garbage, which DOES get my blood pressure boiling.

I hate to say it but 6th sense isn't the only one with a swinging jig like the axle. To be exact another small company came out with that idea years ago before 6th sense. That company also made a solid hook version with a swinging screw lock. 6th took the idea and modified it to their head designs is all but....I do like the 6th versions better. Only one thing I wished they didn't have such big hooks in some of them lol.

Yes, let's every1 do our best to pick up our trash, let's also lean on the unintentional loss of tackle due to the stumps and not make a whole click bait video on it!! Whenever u have droughts, u find lots of stuff on the lake bottom, let's not give the fishing community a bad name! You can't control where your line brakes, u can predict when your rod is going to fall out of the boat, or fish steal it. All we can do , is our best!

I fished ponds in Pennsylvania that was full of carp . I had my holes dug to plant tomatoes and peppers along with other plants. In the bottom of a 2 foot deep hole i put a shovel of fresh chicken or cow manure, several shovels of garden compost . Then a carp per hole with soil to almost level with surrounding garden. Put plant in with plastic cap on top to create grean house effects to plant a little earlier, fresh manure produces heat for possibly 3 weeks that protects from freezing. 2 shovels of manure may be better. Reasons i dig at least 2 foog is manure and fish provide beneficial elements but it's the moisture that draws roots deep earlier in growth. Because of this when summer comes real hot ,roots aren't near surface to dry out because of drought. End up with healthier plants with better yield. Old bath tubs with hot manure in bottom and soil six inches from top of tub . Tub is sunk into the ground to lip of tub . Section off to put tomatoes, peppers, cabbage and other plants needing earlier start. Put plastic over. Place soil on edges to seal and hold down. Takes 6 weeks at least. February or early march to have by mid may or early June past frost dates . But if you do fish and manure tactic allows before frost. If when doing this put plastic cover over for several sunny days to allow soil to warm to prevent shock . Im going to be 65 i learned this from old farmers that always has the most beautiful gardens. Best to you!

Dude, this is the PERFECTLY Opportunity to fly this whole lake with a Drone and record the whole lake or where you like to fish it. You can chart all the ledges and drop off's and and sunken structure thats no one else can see when the water level is up. We also use times like this to build man made structure (Where legal). We take old Christmas Tree's out and lash them together with stainles wire. And this turns into fantastic Crappie and Yellow Perch structure.

I am all tangled up and life sucks right now, so bleak! ... awe seriously now I am hooked by a dang fisherman too, I just catch no breaks!!" The moral is hang on there buddy sometimes things can seem to get a little worse before they get a whole lot better. The 'next bad thing' could be just what you needed all along!

For at least the last 30 years of fishing I never go fishing without my 10" curved hemastats a hair popping sharp knife a hook sharpen a set of micro scissors like yours a toe nail clipper and a Leatherman multiplier
And lastly about 10 years ago started packing a xtra long disposable butane lighter to melt together any clumps of fishing line I find into a small compact glob so once cooled easily fits in my pocket so I can dispose of it properly
When I re-spool my reels I use a propane torch to melt the old line into a glob that no animal can get angled in and put it in with my recycled plastics
Only saved one turtle but saved more than a few ducks geese song birds and even on Gosshawke tangled in fishing line and a few goslings that were trapped in place with a hook in the webbing of thier foot and the fishing line was snagged on something
Kind of a big PITA trying to get a hook out of the foot of a panicking gosling while mom and dad are alternatively attacking you.
Fisherman must realize there is no more deadly to wildlife trash thay can discard than fishing line

Cole it was definitely amazing to see you try and do your best to get all that fishing line that some ungood fishermen left out for the turtle to get all rapped up in!!! It was as definitely awesome to do that and take away from your fishing time!!! Most others wouldn’t have done the amazing dead that you did!! So amazing Cole!!! I do have to say that you have to be lucky it wasn’t a snapping turtle because I’m pretty sure a snapping turtle wouldn’t have let you get all of the line off them!!! Lol!! I’m pretty sure if there was a turtle with line around him in my state it would have been a snapper for sure!!! Lol!!
