I was huge Sydney hater back in a PAYDAY 2 days, and then i found out that Joy existed... And now she is in PAYDAY 3 as well.
As someone who doesn't hate Sidney's screams and has never played Joy, can you give me a TL;DR of why she's annoying ?

And yes, the high pitched noise also applies to Clover, Jimmy, Sydney and Bodhi because I just don't like the guy.
@@Neutronium57 I think the sentiment comes from the fact that she doesn’t seem to take heisting very seriously at all (“Cloaker down, 10 points!”) and that a lot of her voicelines lack the “in-the-heat” intensity most other characters have (her Bulldozer callouts are some of the tamest I’ve heard of the crew).

Clover is hands down the most underrated heister in the whole cast. I've been saying this since she was released, sucks Overkill forgot about her.
They didn’t they added Joy because it makes canonically sense why she would be in PD:3 and I’m assuming they added Pearl to add a new character to the mix
She's the only female char that doesn't give me cringe and the one who fits the most.

Out of all the other amazing heisters they made JOY one of the two heisters that would be available at launch. Joy is so damn annoying.

It's kinda from the era, her being Locke's protege, and the fact that the crew really needs someone like her in a situation like the one they're in.
But judging off the fact the gang had an attempt on their life.. And some mighta barely scraped away with their lives in tow.
She probably grew as a person. Matured a little, got a lil less annoying. Frankly, the "Twisted sense of Humor" part kinda got my interests piqued even more than before, seeing as I've Been a Joy main.

I mean looking back it makes a lot of sense to have Joy in the game right from the start.
With all this hacking stuff in Payday 3 and Bain not being around no more, it makes total sense that Joy would be the one teaching the rest of the gang some of the hacking stuff.

It's not houston anymore they changed his name to Horton and it's already been hinted at several times by almir himself there's going to be a houston/Horton prison break post launch..

Pearl could be a returning heister with a name change or maybe pearl will be released post launched and the other heister is in a later version of the game
So the rumors about Joy were true, but didnt expect a new heister at all. But i still believing that Houston is going to come back later

He'll likely be added later. Characters like these just make sense for launch. With someone like Joy, that's someone they absolutely NEED for the beginning days of the Gang's robbing spree again. To make sure they don't get tracked down and wiped again. And to be able to adapt to the new technological era.

Um... Joy is an Original character. They just originally made her as an exclusive to the Switch version. But they still created the character. It's their property.
That's why she actually got involved in the PD2 End Game Story, and was a full on Leader in the Post White House City of Gold Campaign.

I do think it's a shame that Duke isn't going to be in the base game, especially with the fact that he is in new york according to rumors and stories, but he'll probably be DLC at some point in the future

Surprised that Joy is returning. I thought she would be the least likely to return due to being a tie in character and having the worst mask.
worst mask????? Even if it isnt your cup of tea it is by far the most unique heister mask and has the most potential to be improved in this game, not only graphically but with it being completely programmable and have different variants if the devs feel like it. I would understand calling it a mid mask if you don't like how it looks but compared to plenty of other forgettable characters with forgettable masks it is not the worst.
That mask was sick! She isn't my favorite, but I'll always remember my time with her on the Switch.
I like to put her mask on Jacket. Always thought it jived well with the tape recorded demands.
She wasn't really a tie in. She was a character made for the Switch version, but she's still an original character. They added her into the main game because she actually had story relevance.
And now, even more so in PD3.

@@goodolsalami4698 It's only the fairest if you assume everybody wants to play the game equally or would get the most out of playing it equally. Like the OP said there are plenty of people who know nothing about Payday and sign up since it is free, and many of them probably don't end up playing it or play it for a few minutes since it isn't something that they care about. On the other hand, there are players who very much want to play the beta for performance testing reasons, or because they have wanted to for years. IMO, the most fair method would have been a mix of first come first serve and random. Then, hardcore players who will get more out of the beta get in, whilst also some players new to the franchise will.

@@thatonemick2736 I started to main ethan when I realized that no one was playing as h3h3, and I didn't even hear their responses to pagers. Wanted to find something new in pd2. Later I made a few really funny costumes for Ethan, and I started playing only as him. Then I decided to differ in many ways from most players, I put together a build with mines and jammers, which I take both on stealth and on loud. I even tried to play with vape just for fun, but it was too hard. I like to think that at first I am mistaken for some kind of silly noob, and later it is I who pull the team out of the most difficult situations. The only problem is that sometimes guys with mods just don't let me into the stealth lobbies when they see my loud perk, and I never change the build at all
@@thatonemick2736 And, as a nice bonus, they were added to the game right before Joy, which means they can call everyone by name except Joy, while the main cast can't even call Duke or Sangres. I've never heard their names in the game before.

@@scootaloo9491unless they acquire the rights back, which could be possible,but that part is solely on whether the devs want to bring him back, If they do, he shouldn’t be too hard to acquire, since most people don’t really know what hardcore Henry was. But even hotline Miami has a better chance than hardcore Henry. But my guess is that they won’t bring back any crossover characters besides maybe John wick, but I’m still hoping for all old crossover characters to com back.
@@WizardlyWizardryhardcore henry is an old movie, and way not as hyped as scarface, so there no point in crossover with it nowadays. Maybe if itll get a sequel, which is unlikely.

As a Joy main in pd2 this is the best news I've heard all week. Interesting that some of the other leaked heists seem to take place in small locations especially with Nightclub and Jewelry store but I'm praying Overkill keeps to their word like in the dev diaries and ensures the levels are large and expansive enough to justify it with more objectives.

I'm a Joy main. I enjoy playing her. But i don't poke fun at anyone else for playing a certain character. Who fucking cares? Just let people play who they want.
As for an actual Reply to the OP's concerns.. That's fair.
But keep in mind this. Art Gallery was a heist in barebones, early PD2. Same for PD3. But the PD3 version is much more expansive, interesting to look at, and high class.
The Jewellery store is a classic, but they could very well make it something really pretty, throw in interesting mechanics to get your hands on the stones. The nightclub could be a HUGE joint with much better decor than the weird crap they have in PD2. An Assault in there could be intense. Very claustrophobic, lots of choke points, lots of places you could get trapped and murdered in.
I have hope for it. When they made the simplest of Bank hits bigger and better, and the simplest of Art Hits bigger and better, the rest looks good.
Plus.. We gotta keep in mind. These jobs? They're things the gang are good at, know how to hit hard and fast. And when they need some quick paper, these are the jobs they're gonna wanna take. For a start. And then they start getting bigger, and bigger, and bigger.. Regaining their strength in a way.
I was shocked to actually have the beta. I feel it’s going be a grind at launch. I do hope we get more content after launch preferably a month after. I feel it’s going get dry fast…

@@Rasenmaehermann89yeah we're guaranteed 18 months of post launch content, that's what starbreeze has said but let's be honest, the pre-order money (apparantely 1M+ people pre-ordered the game) will be enough to fuel updates for more than that.
