I've listened to this song off and on for many years. Love the slide guitar work. I just rediscovered it today ... 9 months after my dad died. This song captures what it's like to mourn and honor a parent who has gone on before us. See you again, dad. But not yet.
I got to play with Ben about 15 years ago. A room just like this, him on a slide and I had a beautiful strat. We were in between things and killing time, ended up having a fun little jam sesh. I told him how much I loved his Asher slide. Ben gave me the metal slide he was using, I still have it. It’s embossed with his name. Great memory.
Wow, Thank you for this Bill. Ben sounds Awesome and the guitar sounds mighty great too. And all the cool amps lying around from the Pignose up to the Dumble, what a great machine shop you get to hang out in!
I don't know a thing about equipment!!! Just know I'd give my bank account, Car, and house to be in a chair in that room… An amazing artist just testing a lap steel. My goose bumps agree!
Oh, won’t you help me through the night Won’t you help me through the night We will worry about tomorrow when it comes And now it’s all that I can take To sit and watch us break Wishing into your arms I could run And, all of my days You mean the most Now I’ve got to give up your ghost We’ll raise a glass Just one final toast And we’ll drink to giving up your ghost Now I’ve given up your ghost Every day I look a little more like my father And every day I look less like me Now how brave is your love? Would a promise be enough? That someday again we would meet And, all of my days You mean the most Now I’ve got to give up your ghost We’ll raise a glass One final toast And we drink to giving up your ghost Now I’ve got to give up your ghost (repeats) And, all of my days You meant the most Now I’ve got to give up your ghost We’ll raise a glass For the final toast We drink to giving up your ghost Now I’ve given up your ghost Got to give up your ghost
I have my tele in open g on a Marshall mgdfx 100 and we'll its primitive but at first crack in soo stoked... is there any way to pull something like this off with my ole standard geet box? what tuning? HELP PLEASE.......:-)

Yes!!
Tuning is open D, I'm sure you could do it but I'd say it'll be difficult on a regular guitar.

Just purchase a “RAISED NUT” for your Tele, and you can then play it like any other Lap Steel
Good Luck!
