tiaran 100% correct, If you look at the try from the right side shot, it was clearly a perfectly good pass. Also regards England's so called difficult route the final, would England have automatically beaten Japan and Wales if they where on the South African path?

Thank you tairnan... yes the angle on the reply shows it clearly is NOT forward. The Irish commentators have shown what bad sports they really are. They have also shown how little they regard South Africans. So no matter how badly the English have treated them, they still think more of them and would rather they do well than South Africa... quite remarkable!!!

4 years late on this video, according to O'Gara, a Vermeulen Yellow card, the scrum which should or shouldn't be part of rugby, a forward pass and sinckler's injury cost England 21 points. Wonder what he had to say about the 2023 win?

  • @tobyhart8515

A most unpleasant analysis by ROG
He literally tried to find any way to discredit the bok victory, from forward passes, to missed yellow cards, an easy route to the final etc etc
He even advocated that England fake scrum injuries to get uncontested scrums.
He has no credibility as an analyst anymore.
Unable to name our wings, two of the best in the world.

It is not SA's fault that Ireland and Scotland couldnt top their pool. Also it wasnt their fault that they were drawn with NZ. Remember Ireland and Wales were ranked number one before the WC. So to mention that England had the tougher route that is something that the organisers should sought out for the future. Also remember England played a game less coming into the quarter final. Had England won Im sure O Gara would not be so negative. Disappointed in his comments.

    • @lii114
      @lii114 5 лет назад +10

SA fan here I agree . I don't know why people are so negative about SA . SA plays good rugby and we do derserve it . The rugby ranking for me is not accurate . I don't know how they analyse it . On the other hand some people just can't take the way we perform and will always try nd do anything to make the out come of something good something bad . South Africa are one of the team's that doesn't play other citizens, we simply just can not afford them. Our currency is very bad so most of our players go to Europe cause its more profitable . Most people (all players) move to Europe and get a opportunity to play rugby there . After the players get residences then they get a opportunity to represent the country which is fair . South Africa we work with what we have and we always perform....Some hate to see it . I'm glad action always speak louder then words and South Africa proved they are World champions in 2019 . Well done Bokke you guys made a light for so many individuals in the darkest times in our country , to prove people that we can do so much more when we work together 🌈

If they had given away 3 penalties sure then there is a question but no ref in history has ever given yellow for one penalty 5 meters out unless it clearly prevented a try which was not the case here. Also, on field decision was a try, there was no way anyone can say for sure that pass was forward, it looked flat and there was no way in hell any ref was going to overturn a 50/50 call. The try was fair.

Let's break it down for O'Gara, cause for a so called "rugby legend" he has lost my respect.
1.Japan beat Ireland and Scotland, and were a much better team than what Ireland was this world cup Ronan is salty because Ireland lost to Japan. SA know how that feels
Wales was just as hard if not the harder game of the two semi-finals. More tackles, both forward dominant. SA had less time between that and the final. Meaning a full 24hours extra Eng had to recover.
2.England had it easy, Australia is horrible this year, not sure why they think that was a hard game. They missed one pool game that should've been a tough one, that's an extra 80minutes your players don't have to get battered and bruised. Yes NZ was a tough one but in terms of who had the better run, England had that.
3.That pass was referred, not as if the ref ignored it. It went back from the hands, take it up with world rugby and the TMO.
    4. Owen Farell missed one kick, don't act like he would have should've, could've converted a conversion if he had one.
    5. That was ONE penalty in 10 minutes, how the F**K is that a yellow card? England just couldn't break the SA defense. Which for the day was 92%, unheard of for ANY team in a worldcup final. In any case, Jerome tried to give the try to england but they couldn't get through, usually that advantage lasts 5minutes max then the ref gives the penalty and stops play. But he tried really hard to keep the game flowing for England which is awesome. We love seeing advantage being played.
    6. England were under pressure the whole time. Making silly mistakes. Ford was nowhere this game. Kolisi had Curry's number and Curry was counter rucked by him at every ruck.
    7. Can't believe O'Gara would advocate for uncontested scrums.
That's why he wasn't a world cup winner especially with that mindset.
    8. If England had something to complain about, it was one scrums where Kitsoff had his arm on the ground. But they lost a prop, South Africa lost a hooker and a lock early on. If England were smarter, they'd know that Marx' lineout throws arent always the best, so they would've switched to their tactical kicking game where Ford is so good at, but they tried to kick onto Willie.
    9. Don't even get me started on how he didn't even know how to say Mapimpi. Really not that hard. Has the same amount of syllables than his own name.
    10. South Africa's record with Garces I believe is 12 times reffed, 3 times won. Something like that. South Africa didn't just hang on, they were doing pullups with the english around their legs from the get go.
So salty all my respect lost for this man.

Would encourage Ronan to view the SA missed opportunities and the momentum shift scenarios in the same light as he has for England. Johnny May (albeit amazing athleticism) jumping from the touch line to tap the Pollard penalty back - should have been a SA line out 10m from the line. What then? How about the penalty in favor for SA in the first half which the ref played very little advantage for and no score came from it. And finally, would love to see some commentary on the visibly very poor sportsmanship at the end, where Farrell and Jones provided no congrats to SA in their post match de-briefs. South Africa were holding back the whole world cup it seems. They played a kicking game to force penalties on their aponents through pressure and played mainly with their forwards.
They knew their defense was good enough to support this style of play.
The ball barely ever went out to their backline which was pretty upsetting giving the amount of dangerous attacking runners they have. Its almost like they played the same predictable game all tournament long just to change their style completely in the final. One almost wonders if it was planned or on purpose. England surely didn't see it coming.

No excuses, on the day South Africa was better by a mile, We never claim to be the best in the world, but for that final South Africa came ready and had England number. When England beat NZ no one said NZ was rubbish, they said England was great, but South Africa beats England and England gave it to South Africa, that is such poor taste. Come on guys, we could of scrummed all day for 3 points and also dominated the line-outs, but instead South Africa came ready to play and win. So the referee and the touch judges and the TMO all miss a forward pass. This is rubbish, England was out played, be gracious in defeat, learn from NZ in that regard. These comments diminishes a great match, England is a great team and that was not their day, their coach and team did wonderful and respect to them but South Africa played Wales which was ranked number 1 in the world, played a Japan that beat Scotland and Ireland so how can you say they had an easy road. There is no easy road to lift the Webb Ellis Cup. Either-way if they are as good as we all know they are then in 4 years they will be dominant and I feel sorry whom ever must play them.

Say what you want, but the best part is Rassie basically build his team in less than two years.
The Bokke are great, they are my team. But to be honest, there is always a hype arround Ireland before the world cup. When the time is there, nothing happens

O'Gara, Bad take. Salty. I think you doubt the resolve of South Africa. Had we played NZ, Wales or any other side, we were going to win this final. Read the room.

Got a lot of time for O'Gara's rugby wisdom but I think England would have prefered to play Australia rather than Wales in the Quarters. South Africa had Japan because Japan beat Ireland, and beat Ireland well.
Wales pushed South Africa all the way, because that's what Wales do even when they're evidently not the better team. It seems to be always a case of saying South Africa underperformed against Wales and then performed against England, there seems to never be any credit for the fact that Wales were just a drop kick and 10 minutes aways from winning that match. A match where Wales had to contend with the 'bomb squad' and had half of their first choice pack unavailable. Will anybody ever give Wales credit instead of classing them as lucky or that their opponents underperformed? I doubt it (smile).

thought highly of Ronan O'Gara what a real shame, seems really salty you'd think he was English accent withstanding. Stopped watching at "the other winger and the TERTEEN" embarrassing interview.

These guys forget that the springbok squad 10 years ago had a more consistent record. Back then we only lost to England once in 10 years, gave NZ a hammering from time to time, and never lost to Italy. They are still not at their peak. If you watch the tri-nations game against NZ in 2009, you will see just how good they can really be. SA are always hard to dominate, even when you are leading.

Everyone is allowed an opinion. Mine is simple. Japan had monster wins, and England's win was truely brilliant. The cherry on the cake was the Boks bringing a fantastic tournament to an end.

    This is pathetic.
So disrespectful from O’Gara, I understand you’re upset but show some respect and be humble in defeat. (Even though you’re an Ireland international👀)
