    Hi! Did you ever use HOP as a kid? I did! How old is your child? Mine are 9, 6, 4 and 2!

      I didn't use it but I remember vividly seeing the commercials for it. "Hooked on Phonics works for me!" 🤣 I am homeschooling a 10 year old and 6 year old.

    Can't do without it. It's so important that they can read before 1st grade.

    Hey, i have also bought hookedonphonics subscription. Wanna know something about the pace that we should move forward. Shall we teach a letter a day or if child is interested we should keep moving forward?

    • @TheJohnsonCrew
      @TheJohnsonCrew  Год назад +1

      Great question! I say go at your child's pace, but most kids need some time to soak things in, so I probably wouldn't expect them to be able to really remember it well if they did several units in a day. We stuck to 1 per day, 3-4x/wk, but your child might be able to retain more and can handle more!

    I already had the app I'm going to have to look to see if I can get the books too! I had no idea they had those. I feel like hooked up on it says helps a lot the app at least because that's the only thing we use from them. I used hooked on phonics as a child a long time ago and it worked great! New to your channel 💞

      Hi Mercy! Welcome! Awesome! I used it as a kid too! I would reach out to them and ask about adding the practice packs onto your current subscription! They're pretty handy!

    How much time a day do they spend doing this app? I just purchased the app and want to start my 4 year old who will start school in the fall.

    • @TheJohnsonCrew
      @TheJohnsonCrew  2 года назад +1

      When mine were 4 years old, I didn't have a set amount of time, but they usually liked to play it for 10-20 minutes each day!

    How many workbooks are in the pre-reader program ? I think my daughter is past this but we are on workbook 5-6 . I'm just wondering how much longer until she gets the more advanced workbooks .

    Do you need to use the level one and two along with this as well or is this in place of the regular kits?

    Do you know if HOP is helpful for kids with ADHD/dyslexia?

    • @TheJohnsonCrew
      @TheJohnsonCrew  2 года назад +1

      I feel like a super active kid would really enjoy the games! I'm not sure if it's helpful or not for children with dyslexia though. They let you do a trial month for just $1, so I'd say it's worth a try! shrsl.com/2f0yg

    Would you recommend the practice packs with the app or the learning to read set instead?

    • @TheJohnsonCrew
      @TheJohnsonCrew  3 года назад +2

      If you're using the app, then the practice packs make the learning to read set unnecessary. You can even just use the app alone, but some kids do better having the physical book and practice packs to work with in addition.

    I'm confused with which part of the app corresponds with which workbook. My kindergartener just finished 30 days of Hooked on Reading and we paired it with the Hooked on Spelling workbooks 1&2 (i realize that doesn't sound like it would work). I thought that the initial book order was all that was offered until the new month came around and they wanted to send me more practice books. Why does the practice book only cover 3 lessons? She's been doing one lesson a day. I would need the practice books mailed much sooner than each month. I'd love some help navigating how to pair the correct workbooks with the app.

      You may be able to reach out to Hooked on Phonics to see about getting the workbooks at a faster pace! I'm not sure how they would handle that. That's awesome that she's getting it at such a quick pace!

    • @TheJohnsonCrew
      @TheJohnsonCrew  2 года назад

      If they only sent you the spelling workbooks and not the reading workbooks, then I would reach out to them and ask about the reading workbooks so you can pair those with the lesson that she's currently on. The spelling lessons are more advanced than the reading lessons.

    Hi Sarah, thanks so much for the Hooked on Phonics info! I'm trying to order today. Just wanted to asked a couple of questions. 1) Is Hooked on Phonics compatible with any kid tablet? 2) I have a 4 yr old with little knowledge of alphabets, phonics, etc.; would you recomment Pre-K for him?

    • @TheJohnsonCrew
      @TheJohnsonCrew  3 года назад

      Hi! That's awesome! I'm not sure about the app compatibility, but if you go on the App Store on your child's tablet and search for this app, that will answer that question! I would recommend the "pre-reader world" for your 4yo! Both levels are part of the same app and you can create separate log ins for different kids (if you have more kids) - which also means, you don't have to buy a new app when he's ready to move up to the next level 👍🏼

    I used hooked on phonics and was an advanced reader! Now I have 4 children and would like to do this with my younger 2 kids who are 3 and almost 5. Does the app allow more than one profile? Also, would it be bad to use more than one app, like Khan kids and hooked on phonics? I want to be able to use this as a base for Reading and writing but thinking I can use other apps to help reinforce.

    • @TheJohnsonCrew
      @TheJohnsonCrew  3 года назад +1

      Great questions! That's awesome! Yes it does allow more than one profile! I don't think it would be bad at all to use more apps! I've never used Khan kids so I can't speak to that, but I really like the Brain Quest book for Kindergarteners to start working on writing letters (and it has a bunch of other content areas as well)! I list out everything we use for Kindergarten in this video in case you want to see: ruclips.net/video/B0tnE8JcOLA/видео.html :)
