No fair! I just about spewed my tea at "...smoldering eyes"! Used local bookstores... I suppose Half Price Books doesn't count. Loving these haul videos! Thanks!
I agree with your initial assessment of Murdoch. Always thought she needed more judicious editing. It would be immensely interesting if you did a video review of her complete works when you finish them. Maybe in a hundred years, when I reach your age, I’ll try her again, if her works aren’t lost to time, tide, or annihilation. 😺✌️
Queen Mary was never shipped over to England. She was born in Kensington palace and though most definitely of Germanic stock, she like the Mountbatten's, came from morganitic stock. Though always British. They had endless English titles bestowed on them to camouflage their "foreign" origins...
Just last month I went to the Reagan library. They had an exhibit about both the movie Star Wars and SDI. Both parts of the exhibit were fascinating. There were artifacts, prototype models and actual pieces displayed and explained. There were large images of newspaper cartoons that criticized the whole thing and they were hilarious. And at the end a display of sculptures Reagan and Gorbachev exchanged at the Moscow peace summit.
Just finished Erik Larson's new book "Demon of Unrest" and was very pleased to find a splendid review of the book on your journal Open Letters. The book was a great read and your reviewer nailed it!
I've been hoping to come across a copy of Lydia Millet's George Bush Dark Prince of Love in a used bookshop for ages, but so far they have not provided. If only I lived near something like the Brattle!

You reading one of those hysterical "Prince Albert was Jack the Ripper" books for Garbaugust is still one of my favourite videos
I just bought a Ronald Reagan , an American life Sn autobiography. Is it a bad one. It was $1.50 and a hardback with a plastic cover that you like.

Ah, we knew you'd be back... I am sorry that you didn't find the volume you were looking for. Still hoping it turns up.

Those naval biographies sound intriguing.
The November/December issue of World Literature Today magazine has a visit to the Brattle Book Shop article by Parker Buske.
