8,000 subscribers ! Thank you for your positive feedback and comments it really is appreciated.
Project 2 : WEAVE
This is another demonstration using one of the projects available in the monoprinting kits.
Working with a few basic colours to create a layer of texture before applying the stencil. This composition is based on close up photographs of discarded fishing nets found on the old docks.

👏👏👏🙌 wonderful! Thank you!
Been watching far too many of your videos! You have inspired me to get out the paints and try some of your techniques and perhaps find something unique in my self ... Thanks so much. BTW: LOVE the way that you don't have any mind-numbing endless looped backgroung music! So peaceful!
Thanks very much for your comments, I hope you find the videos helpful. I appreciate your response to the lack of music and although I do sometimes have to use it I try and keep the silence.
Very cool effect. Love how the lightness of the underpainting illuminates the finished work. Nicely done. Thanks!
I love the colors, the depth and movement of this piece😊
So Cool! I Love it! TFS Hugs!
Wow how inventive thank you for sharing !!!!
Great! I always learn some thing new from your videos. Thanks, Dan.
I love using stencils, this looks great, must give it a go, Thanks for the inspiration 💕
Great video Dan, the background was really effective yet another great idea
Thanks, it also does suit the subject of weathered abandoned fishing nets.
Well I love that colour of blue
And it works great with the stencil, thank you for sharing it with us all..🌻🍁
Thanks, the colour is as close as I can get to that found on the old discarded nylon fishing nets that inspired this composition.
Well that makes perfect sense Dan.. I have some small oil sticks that I might be able to smudge in..its fun to find out...🍁
Gorgeous textures in this one, Dan. Can't wait to try it with a simple leaf stencil or with beach rock shapes and lichen - oooh!
The texture does help with the subject and has a way of generating new ideas.
Dear Dan, While watching your video (before knowing the old fishing nets inspired it), I was reminded of stained glass. Then it reminded me of stones under water.
I always enjoy watching you work in your relaxed and focused manner. Your approach to monoprints is unique.
Have a good weekend!
Best wishes,

PS You have very nicely shaped hands and fingers -- and you don't even need nail polish! lol
Love it! Great Work, thanks 👍
I love how you built the layers, then used lines and lost edges to create drama.
Nice work, Dan. I really liked this. Thanks.
Thx Dan!
Thank you! Beautiful and fun!
thank you. you are amazing.
Thank you. Beutiful!
I love it
Very nice work
Did you use regular acrylics in this video? I didn't notice you using a retardant and the paint wasn't drying out quickly as you were working with it. Lovely monotype as always, thank you for the template.
Yes I did, the paint does dry a little too quick but a retarder would improve this.
Dan, by now I shouldn't be surprised when I see work of yours I like! How do you chose to use acrylic or oils when you decide to monoprint, and which do you prefer using?
I do like using both but find the techniques work best with oil paint. For the next few videos I will be demonstrating working with just acrylic paint so I hope the differences will be shown. Thanks for watching.
Very beautiful effect, with that emerald green. May be a little bit too dark... But nice :) :) :)
I tried to match the colour of the old discarded fishing nets, doesn't always look the same on camera.
Gonna have a go later
A question for you. Are you using mixed media paper, or simply sketch paper, or Bristol, for the acrylic print making? Thank you.
I try to experiment with different surfaces. Heavyweight cartridge paper is a preference. I haven't tried Bristol board but will give this a try. It would be interesting to film a video that shows the effect on several different surfaces including canvas and wooden panels.
I really am enjoying your work, and experimented yesterday! Question, is there anything more re-usable one could use for the plastic sheet used to apply the paint? But, with similar texture? Thank you in advance!
I never throw away any of the plastic that you see me using, everything can be used many times, I even allow the layers of paint to build up to create more texture. The thin plastic I use is ideal for creating the textures but I experiment with different materials. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

What kind of paper do You use for this monoprinting. Love all your videos. IT inspire me 👍👍
I find a heavyweight smooth card works best 200gsm or more. A good quality cartridge paper is also good.
Did you make the stencil? If not, who ? Thanks 😁🎨💕✨🇺🇸
This stencil is one of my own, it is one of 4 designs included in my monoprinting kits.
Is that deli paper?
It's just recycled plastic (try cutting up a plastic bag, the thinner the plastic will result in more interesting textures)
