The best gift I ever received was from my little brother. This was probably 15 years ago, I was 10 years old and he was 8. He was so excited to gift me this thing. He kept telling me this is going to be my favourite gift out of all the gifts I get this year. And best of all - he said it was expensive. My parents gave the "huh?" look to each other because they had no idea what he was giving me. He had wrapped it up with those white kitchen paper towels and taped it up real good. So everyone stops what they're doing to watch me open up this mystery gift from my little brother..... and turns out it was MY OWN nintendo DS..... and he was so sincere about gifting me something he know's I'll love lmao. What made this the best gift i've ever received, to date, was how excited and sincere he was to gift this to me. He was so full of love and wanting to make his big sister happy. That was the best part about this gift
that’s honestly adorable
I zoned out for a while, and then zoned back in when Rhett said "If I ever have the privilege and honour of running for President, it's going to be goats for every 5th grader..." and it was so out of context, I had to laugh
23:20 I've already known that Link would be fond of the cat sooner or later lol, now he even doesn't want Sokka to leave him
I know I was just waiting for this moment I knew it would happen🥰 I’d be down for a whole ear biscuits episodes about links transformation with his relationship with Sokka and outlook on cats haha
@@PaigePlates Everyone is a cat person, they just don't know it yet.
Link is really on one in this episode lol I love it. His comedic timing is impeccable.
My daughter gave me a puppy after my husband passed away. He is the light of my life.
as a child i was obsessed with macaroni and cheese (still am honestly but not as fervently) and i received boxes of velveeta shells and cheese for multiple birthdays
That was me with pickles as a kid for a few years. And yogurts.
My husband and I have been so broke the last couple years that we don't buy gifts for each other. We get presents for our daughter. Its more important that she have Christmas than us having Christmas. One day we'll be able to gift to each other. As long as the kid is happy. We're happy
Same. Me and my husband do a stocking exchange small but meaningful things. We just had a newborn so we are focused on that till I go back to work. I worked a lot to have a long maternity leave with my family not for expensive things.
i’m sure that your daughter is gonna have a great christmas and so will you guys. praying that it goes well for you in the future 🙏🏽
I'm not sure the key is goats, or sewing machines. I think the key is Grandparents, or continually bonding with older adults. This should absolutely be encouraged. There are many elderly who don't have family close by who would love a 5th grader (or older or younger) to come visit them weekly. :D
Then the 5th graders are gonna be corrupted by their archaic world views lmao...
Not a bad idea, but not all grandparents are built the same 😬😅
Fabulous advice
I was excited for the video version to come out so I can see this grey cat with the pink nose and I was not disappointed. Thank you for mentioning getting pets as presents is a terrible idea. They’re living creatures that require a lifetime commitment, they’re not objects. You guys are the best!
yes exactly! my aunt got my mom a dog that she never asked for that had an ear infection and many other problems..
I have never seen a game of Sorry with a popper... Classic Sorry doesn't even have dice.
Am I the crazy one here?
"Pinkie Pie, Gift-giving isn't a competition; it's an expression of love. You always make sure your gifts are filled with lots of love, and that's why I'll always love them, and you, five-ever. That's even longer than for-ever." - Maud Pie
I can totally understand where Rhett's wife is coming from with gift giving. Gifting is a very important part of my own love language. Giving more than receiving, really.
Link is really vibing in this episode. Also, their matchy outfits are adorable.
Re: gift giving a pet, I saw a brilliant suggestion once. Don’t give a pet, give a ‘how to care for a pet’ book. It gives the same idea, but ensures everyone is consenting and prepared before bringing a lil animal into it
Years ago my moms boyfriend’s grandparents got me the game battleship 4 years in a row and it wasn’t a joke, they just never remembered what they got for who every year 😂
I'd love for Rhett and Link to do a full episode on the cars they've had (and potential cars for their kids), if that's not something they've done already.
As a car enthusiast, I’d really enjoy watching that as well!
@@marcjohnson3553 As a car enthusiast as well, I came here to leave the comment you left.
Hope everyone here has a great morning 😊😊
I have a midway December Birthday and in my 20+ some years of Birthdays I've never gotten a dedicated Birthday gift. I've been pretty chill about it since I was a kid but I feel the gloss over that happens in the holiday season
As someone born in June, I feel for you. I can't empathize with you but I feel for you.
My daughter's bday is December 13th. She's not 2 yet so I don't feel as bad but this was something me and my husband talked about because I felt guilty. Especially because our anniversary is Dec 15th!
Same. I'm Dec 24th. Some people expect a Christmas gift from me, and then a birthday gift months later when it's their turn...but they'll basically just get me a Christmas gift and be like "oh yeah, and happy birthday btw" or they'll completely forget that it's even my birthday lol
I always made sure my daughter got separate gifts and party for her birthday. Dec. 18th also
My daughter and Jessie share a birthday. It definitely puts the pressure into make their birthday special when it’s only a week from Christmas.
Rhett, Settler's of Catan is a great board game that I highly recommend and it's fun with two people.
Some folks celebrate their children’s half birthday when their birth month is too close to Christmas.
Kinda works. Then just a birthday lunch in December as an example.
i wish my family had did this when i was a child, my birthday is jan 9 and my brothers is dec 31 so i always felt ignored, my gifts would always be with the christmas gifts too lol
Top of the morning to ya.
Best coffee on the market.
I feel ya Rhett I mean Christmas shopping is the hardest thing I have no idea how to shop for my family. Id rather just do gift cards all around lol
My ex got me a “Tiffany” necklace and earring set for Christmas. Broke up with me on Christmas, gave the earrings to his sister in Europe. We got back together almost two years later, and asked his sister for the earrings back to give to me. Fast forward I had a free cleaning and the jeweller told me and him they were fake in front of his son!
Next Christmas gave me a seiko watch with Diamond certification. He knows I hate wearing watches, the only thing I failed on school was telling analog time. But after 8 years, after breaking up, I verified both boxes were not boxes belonging to that watch. Such a cheap gift I don’t like watches and it was fake!
Omg all around this was shitty lol I'm sorry
I can't decide what is worse...giving fake everything to make himself look good, or giving them to his sister and then asking for them back 🤣
I have never been so stunned in my whole life- I live in KC & work in the River Market! It warms my heart so so much to know you guys got to come enjoy my town 🥰
this podcast is so relaxing
As someone with a birthday on Dec. 29th, I can relate to the frustration amongst my family when it comes to birthday and Christmas gifts for me. They try hard to keep them separate but that doesn't always happen.
"I'm a giver in so many ways" I know Rhett, I watched all of Sextember 😂
I was falling asleep when the Prime airhorn hit, and I can't even be mad cuz that's some hilarious improv editing work 😂😂
Good mythical morning, guys!!!💖 Thank you for another awesome podcast 👍.
Best Rec Either Of You Have Had!!! I Love New, Retro/Nostalgic Anything And They Did An Amazing Job!!!!
Officially i understand that North Dakota is the least visited, my uncle had the same desire and North Dakota was his last, his daughter and son in law took him on a trip to North Dakota and when he got to the first visitor center they said that they frequently get visitors where they say this is my last state to visit to collect them all.
How dare you make me feel sorry for North Dakota!! :)
A lighthearted one in between emotional ones, I lived it 💕
Board games: I don't know what kind of games you'd be into Rhett, but these games that can be played with two people immediately come to mind:
Mexican Train, Latice, Farkle, Ticket to Ride, &...
My favorite part of the episode was Link's Rec for Silk Sonic. What an amazing album. You cannot go wrong with this listen.
I think its funny that Rhett is basically describing the FFA program in schools ahah
Took me 2x to finish the podcast. I kept falling asleep. The last time I finally listened while cleaning. Now I need to watch for the picture of the red truck!
loved the episode! thanks for going back to the old thumbnails
Rhett’s 3rd tier of his plan reminded me of this. Maybe its common knowledge but this blew my mind because I had no idea. Everyone in the UK drives stick!
Since you're around each other so much do you ever miss each other when a certain amount of time passes even though you've grown up together?
Also thank you for mentioning Jessie’s birthday because I completely forgot about my mom’s birthday on Jan 2nd. And I was so proud of myself for mailing my parent’s xmas presents on time this year!
Good job kitty 👏
My birthday is Dec. 23rd, so I feel for Jessie. Christmas birthdays are weird. I would like to change my birthday too lol
Christmas birthday gang, what's up (Dec 29)
@@aleindria42 heyyy, welcome to the "all my birthday presents are wrapped in leftover Christmas paper" club 😂
Dec 24th here. My parents and I are a all a week apart each in so it’s crazy in December!
45:32 a great game (for two people minimum) is Azul!
My birthday is midway to Cmas as well. I’ve always been a little annoyed since friends are always out of town for the holidays or doing Cmas activities by my birthday, but since my family have started getting season passes to amusement parks and have a visit dedicated to I want to do, it suits me fine 😜
Rhett, you could always give her a trip to take on her "half birthday" in June. When you have maybe more time to celebrate. :D
0:20 Link is now Doctor Strange
The last one about the grandpa made me tear up.
Wow, I never knew you guys worked for Campus Crusade for Christ! I first heard of you back in the days of Focus on the Family's Jelly Telly shows where you had those great Bible tunes that really helped me with teaching the rich lessons from the Bible to my children. Thanks again for lending your creativity to the ministry of young ones out there! You really helped this dad!
There are actually quite a few board games where it's only two-player and meant to be a duel against each other
There are so many amazing board games out there! You can definitely find something the whole family would be in to.
Please feel free to reply to me if you want some recommendations. Just let me know if you'd prefer cooperative or competitive games, and for how many people.
My birthday and my mothers is 12/28. Neither of us ever have a birthday or Christmas it’s always “this is for both!”
Not complaining but I def feel like I got double screwed. Love ya Ma
Nothing surprises me more and that link has passed his job of gifting to his family to his wife oh my god. He's a damn child. Christy has 4 kids.
I guess it really depends on the person. I actually enjoy shopping for everyone because I love to buy. Usually I'll buy for all of us and my husband will get whatever separate presents he wants go give
What food did y’all eat growing up? What food are your children growing up with that y’all didn’t?
Links hardbody was honestly clean asf
Love getting my daily fix of Rhett & Link
Now if we can only fix Saturday 😉
This was a great episode
Immediate like on the video for links knowledge on silk sonic. So happy.
For my 16th birthday I got my cat Cosmic and after over a decade and his son, he’s the gift that just keeps on giving. I also got my first car because my birthday and graduation were so close together that for graduation/19th birthday I got a 2001 Oldsmobile and I loved it but I got into a bad crash about 2 months later.
The best gift I ever received was having to do the leaving cert in 2022. They made it doable this year (and last) and idk how i'd do it any other year.
I know you guys did a best ablum podcast a while back. If you use Spotify they send you a wrapped every year which tells you your top songs and genres they are really fun to look back at. You could maybe make an episode on each of your Spotify wrapped? If you both use it that is..
A fun 2 player board game is Patchwork.
My brothers and I and our parents don't do gifts to each other. My mom has a standing rule of giving a dollar to each grandkid for their age and she only needs a nice card at most for birthdays/Christmas since she is retired. My dad forgets to give us money for our birthday and Christmas but I have no problems with that at all and never remind him - it is tacky to remind him (no outside of the normal memory issues because of age) and they did PLENTY for me while growing up - I see no need for gifts from them since I am an adult.
I have a two player board game recommendation. My partner and I really enjoy the Universal Monsters game Horrified. You can play with more but it’s very satisfying with 2.
come to Rhode Island!!! it’s beautiful guys. Newport is a great place to vacation with your family
Gifts are nice but it's the family/friend well thought out dinners that do it for me
On the goat and sewing topic, the US has programs called 4H and FFA which cover so many different life skills including caring for livestock, sewing, cooking, shop skills, painting, speech/debate…etc. Might not be available or very popular in some areas of the country but they’re great programs
My husbands birthday is in December, our anniversary is January, then valentines in February. It’s always such a process when it comes to the gifts lol
Still up from the previous day lol
My brother and I did not have 6 Sorry boards, but we did have the "sliders" ones with the metal roller ball in the bottom of them, and instead of playing the board game, we would roll them down our hallway and see who could bump the other and get further. We also had at least 3 Uno decks, and we would make a fort under our dining room table and lay on opposite sides so we couldn't see each other's cards, and then we would deal out 30 cards a piece and play for hours with them laid out all over our side of the floor. We would play for hours.
The way it’s neither book packs OR book sacks
My collar goes up your collar goes down
Gifts that give skills are the best, especially a skill that you can use throughout life. Goats (livestock farming), sewing, or guitar, in my case.
From the audio only version I expected link to be much more cozy
Links old man sweater makes him happy
I love that game store at the market. It’s always busy
Man I wish I knew Rhett was coming to KC. I live 5 minutes from where he and boys visited.
Good morning!
You never know when there will be an emergency and you have to drive and stick shift. Family emergency way back in 1974 had to drive a stick shift it took a lot of gear grinding but I did it. When my son' s learned how to drive it was in a standard. I think it should be part of drivers ed.
My 1 year old daughter is my greatest gift yet! 💜
P.S. Congrats on 400k EB!
Links Silk Sonic rec was supreme👌
Hello from South Dakota!
My birthday is December 17th. I can relate heavily with Jessie.
Links sweater looks soo comfy
Is it sad that I can't recall the best ever gift received?
23:28 haha rhett
omg that hawaii footage!!! WOw i never seen that before.. and I CANT BELIEVE how young they all were!! WhAt?! TIME whta is it!?
I can’t believe Rhett was 10 mins away from me in Kansas City and I missed him 😭
I realize my opinion does not matter; however, Rhett you look great with your hair pulled back. I like seeing your handsome face. Nice shirt too!
Literally my mom's birthday is December 17th and my parents wedding anniversary is December 18th...don't get me started 🤣my wedding anniversary is December 7(19 years💓)
How do 2 children of the 80's not remember battleship???? Best 2 player game ever made
Thanks for taking us on the ride of great friendship with you guys. Listening in on your private convos is always hilariously great.
Already listened
Shout out from the 313 ( detroit)
Mastermind is a great two person game.
I need a song from R&L that incorporates 6 different Sorry poppers sounds.
Try having a younger sibling with a birthday 2 days before Christmas and your birthday is 3 days after Christmas. It's fun, real fun... joint bday presents or Christmas presents with your younger brother is real fun.. yeah yup...
Well ill be dipped
Glad you like silk sonic link!
You can play Sorry w 2 people by each person chooses two colors. There are no dice in Sorry, there are cards.
Blokus is a good two player game!
