Your videos are good stuff, I never know what I'll get. I'm in the US and we don't get most of the bikes you review, so it's great fun to see the options you have over there. Crikey, I wasn't aware of so many of these brands until I find your channel. Oh, and ignore the naysayers, keep doing what you're doing.
Finally a video about the Niken! I own a 2019 Niken GT and absolutely LOVE it. No clue (except - as you say - the looks) why it has not sold better, and therefore why Yamaha stopped making them. Just a question from a non-UK person: What is a Stone?
Too expensive when released in UK. £16,000 was way more than a MTS12 multistrada. Along with Euro 5 rules some great deals. 1 year old zero mile one for £10,500.
Gilly, great channel! This bike excites me. Would love to have this bike in my garage, as well as my every day ride. Well done man. Negative people ain’t worth it.
You look great, keep it up. I lost 5 stone myself and never looked back. Consistancy was key for me- diet, exercise, sleep, water intake. Keep going mate
Cheers mate. 1 stone down. At least 4 more to go. Hopefully by next summer. Losing 5 stone is amazing. You have done really well. Hopefully I will get there to.
Very nice quick Niken review. I'd love to get a few peeps to talk about their Nikens and include their content via my site I'm putting together. Do you ever see Can-Ams in the UK? (I'm from the UK but haven't been back in a little bit.)
Yes. I’ve seen quite a few can-ams and surprisingly I’ve seen more of them on the road than I have seen Niken’s. To date I’ve still never seen another Niken on the road other than my own.
Gilly your traction working hard looks brilliant, never been the bike for me I must see if Rob will let me have ago, what's servicing cost ie service tyres great vid👍👍👍
Just standard Yam service prices. So average. I’ve not had to change a tyre yet so I don’t know about that. You should definitely try one. If you’re going to Wigan you will have to be quick. I heard Yam might be moving.
Never seen a Niken (?) before! It looks ... interesting! lol I normally watch youtube on my Telly. Unfortunately although I can like/dislike, I can't comment so have logged on using my laptop just to drop you one. Just for the algorithm! :) ps. 10k by xmas??
I love these ! ......but I'm not sure I'm brave enough to have one and i like having bikes that not many people have ( BMW R18, 1200 Super tenere and vespa 300 in my garage)
i used to ride bikes all sizes from 50cc to 125cc to 1200cc after i passed my test, i rode regular and i rode France for holidays 120 mile ride outs on weekends etc, but at the age of 40 i decided my biking days were done, i thought ive done everything now. But fast forward 12 years and i wanted a little bike to buz around town so i bought a SH 300 scooter to sort of ease me back in, i like the scooter but i only town ride tbh as i find the roads very busy and people very aggressive these days. i dont know if thats because i ride a scooter that looks like a piza bike or what? It certainly can out perform any corsa or fiesta up to 60 mph no problem! I would maybe consider a Niken if the desire to tour Europe gets any bigger, but in the last 12 years im not sure what has happened to people and their respect towards bikers or even humans if im perfectly honest. We need to start been considerate to others again.
I’m 46, most of the people I ride with are in there 50’s. We all live for the summer tours over the channel. Already planning next summers ride. I can’t wait. It makes my year.
As I am a person who has owned & rode larger capacity bikes in the past , I fully expected your 900 cc Nikken to comfortably hit 60 with minimum effort even earlier than it did . Had you not spared the horses ,you could have easily have hit 60 in half the distance . This is why I always advise riders not to go lager than 5-600 cc for their first large bike after 125cc , before hitting the larger stuff . 👍
You would be surprised at how easy filtering is. The bars are still the widest part of the bike. It just takes time getting used to. Once you have you can skip through all that traffic.
You're not the only one with a need to loose weight, lost near 3 stone now and still got about 4 to go, accident injury, illness and inactivity along with meds are my excuse lol, nothing to do with eating to much 😂, good luck with it fella, and not a bike I would choose to own but each to their own, if we all liked the same things the world would be a dull place, and I keep watching as your reviews are interesting and no brand bias like many have, mind I have no real interest in the little bikes but understand why you review them
@@GillyBikes as long as you keep doing thins as you do now it will happen sooner rather than later. you are one of only 3 bike channels I watch and believe to be accurate with their reviews, keep being yourself and it will happen
I don't know whether it is true but I heard that you don't need a bike license to ride a nikon if you have a full car licence, something to do with the distance between the front wheels. But as I said I don't know if that is true,im pretty sure I heard it on a yt video😂😂
Tragically it doesn't apply to the Niken. The wheels are just below the distance threshold. Probably a good thing as far as preservation of life is concerned.
As Bob says. The Niken’s 2 wheels are not wide enough apart. It won’t stand up on its own. There is the Piaggio MP3 500cc that you can ride on a car licence. It stands up without the need for a side stand.
I’ve tried the 1290 superduke and it was nice, but I found it a bit more agricultural. The engine has lots of knocking and vibration. The yam is smooth as silk. So no vibration. There is loads more tech to play with on the Superduke but I’ve heard of so many problems that long term ownership of one would scare me. Especially the new 1390 version at nearly £20,000.00 I would be very worried if I bought one. KTM going into administration and If they do go out of business any fixes will be expensive. The Kawasaki Versys is probably more comparable with the smooth riding and Kawasaki reliability. But the 1000 version for someone of my height I just couldn’t deal with it. It felt quite a bit taller than the Niken and much heavier. Just a typical adventure bike. They are brilliant to ride. But short legs causes issues especially for slow manoeuvres. I don’t have those issues with my Niken. The weight seems to be lower and the seat is lower so it suits me. I find height to be a massive factor when it comes to bikes.
@@GillyBikesthanks for the informative reply like yourself im a shorter rider 5.8 so bike height is big thing for me aswell ive owned ktms for a good few years now duke and rc and never had issues with the bikes but i have heard some bad stories about them the only bike ive had any issues with was the aprilla rs 125 when i first past my cbt but i put that down to it had 5 owners before i bought it and it clearly showed lol the reason i was asking for your opinion is my wife now wants to be backpack/pillion but my 690 duke and the old rc8 terrify her lol so shes insisting i get more grown up bike 😂like a tourer or cruiser so im in the market for the right bike i know the yam aint every1’s cuppa but there’s something about it that catches the eye will you be reviewing more bigger bikes keep up the great reviews on both channels big love from all the bikers in 🏴🤟
@davidmcmillan688 yes. That’s my aim. I want to branch out and do more bigger bikes. The only issue I’m facing now is all of the demo bikes disappear this time of year and they bring new ones out in the spring.

It’s a measurement of weight. 16 stone =224lbs or 101kg. I love my Niken too. Amazing bikes.

Well done on the weight loss
Hope you’re getting plenty of exercise and not just starving yourself
All the best
Cheers. I’m doing lots of walking and the occasional gym visit. 👍

Nice review of your own bike, I have only seen 2 in the flesh, I think they are interesting.. Your almost at 10k Subs, well deserved mate
Thanks mate. 10k is so close now. It’s going to be a proud day when I cross that line.

I’ve always loved your Niken videos. They seem like great bikes. I wouldn’t have one though 😂

Love the Niken even though the looks aren't everyone's cup of tea. As for losing weight, well done, slow and steady is the key, not loads in one go 😀👍
Cheers. These bikes are an engineering marvel. But the looks definitely split opinions, I really love it. It’s definitely a bike I will keep forever
I love that bike. Looks like something Batman would ride 🦇
I’m not saying I’m Batman but you will never see us both together in the same room 🤔

I agree with that. I took it easy and had a bad start 😂. Definitely stay below 600cc until you get experience. That’s very good advice
Good video I like the Niken would you say I would think it has but got twice the grip and a lot smoother having two wheels up front
Twice the grip at the front and They are unbelievably comfortable as well.
Interesting bike. I think the width would be a deal breaker for me. Filtering is so important with the amount of traffic these days 🍻

To be fair you were only doing 50 by the tree... 😏 - Never seen anything like that bike before. Is it a uk model?
😂 yes I did slow down for the tree. it’s a UK bike. Not very popular over here. It’s a shame really because they are brilliant to ride.
I love that bike , but I need a lottery win first.
I definitely need a lottery win. I want to buy everything I ride 😂.
I don't think that the Niken is ugly.
We are in the minority. I’m happy with it though. Who wants to be like everyone else?
Faster cooler, sir. 125 is still Ok 😁🏅, 🇮🇩
Anything on 2 wheels is cool 😎
That bike might be ugly but it looks really fast
It’s my big and ugly rocket 😂

Nicely done 👍🥳
That’s one ugly bike!
That is a view shared by pretty much everyone. 😂😂. But they are amazing to ride. I wouldn’t compare it to a really ugly girl with a great body. 😂
You should be more adventurous.
