What a nice start to a fishing trip! I've bought Pompano at my Socal fish market, and I think it's got to be one of the best tasting fish one can catch from the surf. (Even though we don't have Pompano in our waters)So I completely understand the understand the excitement. Great job 😊.
It’s crazy being in Texas i find whiting to be a nuisance due to the amount we got around our beaches. Wish we had more pomp tho

Wicked whiting hit at 5:40 - they can really bend even a stiffer rod for a smallish fish. And yes less is more many times. Love this type of fishing.
Great video! Nice day on the beach Elias with the a Pomp and some Whiting. When that 3rd whiting struggled in your hands and that hook was hanging on your palm I cringed, thought it was gunna be like that postage stamp ray.

Great trip. I really enjoy watching your videos, no matter what type of fishing you're doing. Love the surf and kayak fishing. I've noticed you don't seem to do any pier fishing though. Can't say i blame ya though. Every time i fish from the piers, a catch something substantial, and the next thing i know, there's 20 people all trying to fish the same spot. LOL. Thanks for another great vid.

Hey thanks for explaining about the fish, and what you keep, Australia doesn't have a lot of those fish. We certainly have stingrays and whiting, maybe bit different looking.

Yup. Gotta have that surf if you want a good beach bite. I had 2 trips to the same beach -- first day, heavy surf, I limit out on pompano. 2nd day, the water was calm, all other conditions/bait the same -- not a single bite all day.

Caught 2 flounder way up in Mill Creek, off of Sturgeon Creek, this afternoon. All the way up into Leland upstream of the kayak launch, about a mile before the creek turns into a ditch.
No Spanish yet. A handful of bluefish

Honestly it’s very good just be careful preparing. Watch a video on how to cut up a blowfish to eat. Can be a dangerous proposition if done incorrectly on certain types of blowfish.

There are numerous 'reading the beach' vids on youtube. However, if you're fishing for pompano -- put that bait on the backside of the sandbar :)
I try to fish an area with a nice trough and a few features to work 3-4 rods through it to figure out the best bet
As far as taste, I'd take the whiting (kingfish) over pompano. Maybe there's a better way to cook pomp?
I like the whiting breaded and fried A LOT. Pompano is better whole and with skin on recipes

Not consistently for me. A few here and there but not enough for a day of fishing
Florida has some pretty consistent sandfleas (well, in the areas where redtide didn't kill everything)
