Very nice. How do you stop the putty from dragging? When I do it there are little cracks all the way along, where the putty meets the glass.

Oh, great question. So I was taught the trick of dipping the end of the putty knife into a little Purified Linseed Oil before running it down the Linseed Oil Putty. Press firming at an angle and the oil helps the knife glide more easily. You don't want it dripping of course, just a little swipe of oil to the knife end before you glaze. Hope that is helpful. Getting the angle and pressure that works for you is also very helpful to avoid the putty separating from the sash or dragging/tearing.

How much time it will take to dry

If you paint the Linseed Oil Putty immediately with Linseed Oil Paint, dry time of the paint in ideal conditions (60+ degree temps and with good air circulation) is 48 hrs or so. The LO Putty may remain soft for awhile longer so be careful if moving sashes, etc. until it has cured/hardened as not to disturb your putty line. Hope this is helpful. Thanks for the input! Yes, a basic troubleshooting vid on "what if" issues you may run into when working with Linseed Oil Putty could be great!

That’s not a putty knife, it’s an ordinary filler knife .

Feel free to share your favorite putty knife as folks are always looking for a recommendation. This is a homemade knife a craftsman in Sweden made for me. DIY knives are always the best.
