Pretty sure the market for Liquid Death is recovering alcoholics or people who don't drink alcohol. You can get a can and people will assume it is alcohol at first glance. I get them when I go to shows because I like their marketing and the water is actually pretty good. I can support venues by not drinking booze, considering cans of Liquid Death do cost $5-$8.
I gotta disagree with you on the deluxe box set stuff cause they can have some cool things in them and I stopped giving a crap about what women think of my stuff when I started listening to metal and collecting gi joe figures.
I like the marketing put into it. Metal is the focus and metalheads are the target demographic. The artwork alone isn't the only reason people like it though. The ads help a lot. The water is fine but I don't like the tea, it tastes like shit. They did do a metal album, punk album, and I think a pop album idr. Yadda yadda yadda, they also had ads done by the guys who made Mr. Pickles too. Like it or hate it, it's undeniably anything else but metal, albeit edgy at times.

Im going to stand on this hill. Liquid death is something I use a lot to replace a lot of my soda intake with. Especially during the summer. Also the cans are a lot more recyclable than the average soda or beer can. You can have your opinions on it. But I'm going to stand with it. They make a good drink. This is coming from a person who's not a fan of sparkling water. Also an 8 pack of of 19oz cans is roughly $13 USD at any local grocery store

The whole comic thing goes back to the 80s. I have several Megadeth comics from the 90s when they partnered up with chaos comics. I really like them and have quite a few comics from various bands. As for the collectors edition of stuff it usually has to be bands I really love. Like lacuna coils dark adrenaline box set which was a medical kit was dope n worth the money and kamelots shadow theory box set was worth it also.

In the modern era where people don't buy albums like they used to, bands do need to diversify in their merchandise, different products and multiple revenue streams, physical copies of an album or t-shirts is not the be all and end all of products of a band, can't blame bands for this move as it's difficult for a lot of bands to make money from music sadly
As a comic collector, the comics one is definitely up-and-down, but what I've noticed lately is that all of them are being produced by the same company, Z2 Comics. And they are MASSIVE swindlers! They produced the Dio one you mentioned in this video, as well as ones for Pantera, Judas Priest (which I own, and it's just okay), Amon Amarth, etc. It takes them forever to ship the item (like, we're talking 1 to 2 years here...), and this problem is a global one. At first, I gave them grace because I'm located in Australia, and I know sometimes there can still be delays nowadays. But nope, this happens to their US customers too! Complaints are strewn all over their socials, of people still waiting on their preorders. For example, the latest Amon Amarth graphic novel is still yet to ship, I believe. And pre-orders began over 2 years ago for that. It's pretty wild. As much as I love AA, I learned my lesson with the Priest book, and I'm glad I did.
Easily the biggest disappointment nowadays. They used to toss in 3 cds, sometimes more than one pin and patch, an autograph, promo flyers, and something extra like a cup, mug, poster, flag, gloves, or a stupid entombed light switch, etc Now you just get like 2 cds, a shirt, and maybe they'll remember either the pin or patch.

Bruce Dickinson made a comic book too for his Mandrake Project 😅 I only bought the 2nd book at his show. It was a story about a young boy with "supernatural" powers although he's most likely a human possessed with some Eldritch monster. Though the main story jumps back n forth from his young days and then "Current Time" when he's an adult... I didn't bother finishing the whole story so I don't know where it went afterwards

Liquid Death, Metalhead Box, Pull the Plug, Z2 Comics and many others are more or less just cash grabs for desperate fans. I'm sure I could get together a bigger list later on overpriced junk when I get off work. When you get tired of seeing every band have either their own beer/booze line, comic, dildo, hockey jerseys or flannel shirts, hot sauce, weed and vape products, you start to notice how many big bands really live up to the concept of selling out. Good for the bands and all that but it gets old. Gwar is the only band besides Kiss that did literally just about every product they could push, but most of the Gwar stuff is cool.
The Dethwater and Dethcasket gimmicks sound like throw-away gags from Metalocalypse.. The fake metal stuff I think was meant to cash in on that flash-in-the-pan pop culture fad of people who don't listen to metal dressing like metalheads... there was a lot of that sort of thing a few years ago where people were stealing battlevests to sell on auction sites and weird stuff like that. I can't remember for what boxed set it was for but I had a Kiss catalog that it came with that had the Kiss casket in there. The design looks different from the one on your video but I remember very well it was going for around $4,000.
I personally disagree with the comic book series and deluxe edition albums especially when they come with a figure or something like that. I really like graphic novels and I love to read animated stories related to the songs and mascots of the bands I like and also as a figure collector myself I can say the same thing exactly for the deluxe editions albums of my favourite bands (even though I can't afford to buy them 😂).

I think when a band releases something along with an album (I.E Gwar, Bruce Dickinson), it can be really cool and give the music a bit more depth, especially when the musicians themselves are involved. I do agree that Holy Diver (and other legacy albums) didn't need a story though. Giving the album art your own story triumphs anything made up 30+ years later.
Where are you people seeing Liquid Death at $5 a can? I only ever see it for around the same price as a bottled water around here. I also feel that the advertising angle is far more tongue-in-cheek than it is “aimed squarely at metalheads” (paraphrasing). Like a more energetic version of the old OK Soda campaign rom the 90s.

I do own a tie in comic for The Universal Migrator pt 1 and 2 by Ayreon it came with my remastered version of The Universal Migrator pt 2: Flight Of The Migrator. I enjoy having a visual reference for the characters I adore and it is quite beautiful to look at, it is not a stunt by the record label though which is the best part. Arjen the man behind everything hired the artist so the story is not even handed over to a comic book company. The dialogue and text boxes are mostly lyrics so it is still the same story the album tells just visually now.

Dea/th Metal perhaps... maybe?? but, even though I do listen to DM, I never once associated it with DM. now, granted, I believe the image you posted is real of Amazon, but I think that maybe it was that, and was reported for price-gouging and then went back down to it's more reasonable price. Liquid Dea/th is water that I really enjoy sometimes, as it has a really nice, bold, crisp taste.
